Re: Blue Di Gets Rear Cabin Light!

Today, I received the magnetic cabin light from costing me US$ 9.04 [₹ 670.40], ordered through my mobile phone on 2 Sep 2018. Now, the passengers on the rear seat can have the comfort of light in case of a need.

First, I attached a piece with adhesive on both sides after peeling off the protective covers. Over that, I fixed the thin metal piece firmly. Then, it grabs the lamp with magnet screwed on to the other side.

That is Givi universal windscreen for my Thunderbird 500. It is made in Italy and bought in US for use in India! [:D]

Amazon Basics Portable Pump

Recently, I bought Amazon Basics Portable Pump from amazon.com and got it shipped to my son at Round Rock, TX, USA, who brought it to Bangalore today. I tested it today itself. It took less than a minute to top up from 29 psi to 33 psi. It shuts down automatically a few seconds after achieving the target set. I checked with the analog pressure gauge. The figures are damn accurate and uniform in all the 4 tyres. My 85P VIAIR portable pump has 15A rating, whereas Nexon's 12V socket is 10A-rated. So, bought this powerful pump that has 30A fuse, which translates into 12 x 30 = 360W-rated pump. Since it is directly connected to the battery, I need not worry about blowing off fuse. The air flow rate [2.12 cfm or 60 litres/minute] is more than that of my 230V 500W Heyner Maxxair Pro [50 litre/minute] connected to the AC mains, which remains at home always. [:)]

Bangalore>Chennai . Non-Stop Night Drive . 362.2 km . 5.5 hours . 23 kmpl . 66 kmph

Blue Di brought us safely and comfortably to our Chennai home at 4:20 am today. Rain of varying degree accompanied us from our Bangalore home upto Vaniyambadi. I drove in sport mode throughout, maintaining 100 kmph mostly.

Here are some statistics. Blue Di's Bangalore>Chennai drive's fuel efficiency was more at 23 kmpl [MID figure], which was more than 21.1 kmpl [MID] recorded for the last Chennai-Bangalore drive with the same route, almost the same timings, same passengers...only the direction differed. The increase in fuel efficiency at +1.9 kmpl, perhaps, is due to the fact that Bangalore to Chennai involved descending 3,000 feet in altitude. I used to observe the same phenomenon in my previous XUV 500 too.

Now, coming to the distance, my NaviMaps navigator calculates the distance as 357 km. Blue Di thinks, it is 362.2 km. But, my previous XUV 500 was of the view that it was 351.1 km! [:D]

Looks like a nice and sturdy product.
How is the performance of the pump? How long does it takes to fill from 0 to 30 psi?

My Tiago also shows way more speed & distance on the ODO than what my GPS tracker shows (299KM vs 288KM). I hope GPS will be more accurate than ODO?

Thanks a lot for the compliments and appreciation, vijay.
Looking forward to see the windscreen on your TBTS.
The first thing I did after my breakfast was installing the Givi windscreen on my bird. I asked my wife to hold it so that I could fix it symmetrically. I will post with photos after riding my bird with the windscreen.

I hope GPS will be more accurate than ODO?
Even I think so. If the error is within the range of plus or minus 2%, it is reasonable and almost accurate. XUV 500's calibration erred on the negative side and Nexon's, on the positive side. My Thunderbird 500's electronics odometer shows with an error of +6%! [frustration]

Have you taken extended warranty?
No,Vinod. During my Linea ownership, I had a bitter experience. Their extended warranty was given by a third party. It had more exclusions than inclusions with severe restrictions. In 2012, when I drove to the NE, 40 k km-old Linea's suspensions got damaged while entering Kolkata. The authorized service station [Lexus Motors, Kolkata] refused to replace them under extended warranty as suspension had a restriction of 30 k km. Finally, I got the LHS shocks, 2 caps and 2 elastic pads replaced at my own cost [₹ 10,427] and continued my drive to Guwahati. After that bitter experience, I am not a believer of extended warranty with many ifs, buts and provideds. If anything unfortunate happens, I am ready to spend from own and forget it.

Thanks Ravi sir for your valuable view and insight on EW, I'll keep this in mind before taking a call.
