The Safari has a big greenhouse so cooliing understandably takes a longer time. Lets see how the AC performs after troubleshooting. Do you usually travel with passengers?

hello,

I hope your Safari is doing well, Did you get the solution for the water seeping problem? (wet mats). Monsoon in back and the wet mats are driving me crazy![frustration]

Was just too busy to post anything here. Wanted to post lots of updates, will do it in a day or two.

Water seeping problem has started again. Tried to check again yesterday evening and it seems that most probably its coming through the place behind dashboard (right most side). I tried to check the place just behind the lever (the one that we have to pull) for opening the bonnet. It was pretty wet there hence I feel that the water might be coming in from there.

I guess I will have to check below the wiper (right one), may be the water is not flowing down completely. Will post an update soon.

Another interesting this is that the right side mat of the middle seat is also wet, though its dry below driver's seat. So wondering if the water is also coming through middle door's beading as well. Or in worst case, if its coming from below (the vehicle), though this doesn't seem logical.

Whatever the case may be, I have decided to find out and fix this problem myself this time. Cannot continue this way any more.

@Sudhanshu: I don't know why but I feel you can easily get to the root of the seepage problem once you get your own hands dirty. Waiting for updates.

Thanks @Sam. Hopefully I should be posting a positive update on Monday; have reserved the coming weekend for this issue only.

@Sudhanshu: So many images after such a long time and guess what, the damned check engine light is glowing in the very first pic. Ha ha.

Your Safari must be very wet inside by now, looking at these pictures.

Mind posting a quick update on the performance?

Got those lights from Maalik automobiles (Nana peth, Pune). The price was Rs.850/- for a pair. Rs.250/- (or somewhere around that, can't recall) for relay, wire, tape, and 100W Phillips bulbs. The lights had 55W bulbs, so changed it to 100W as suggested by them.

The lights are extremely powerful, and at this price its worth trying. I had no problems about visibility in the night after installing these lights.

If you are talking about engine performance, then I have no complaints at all. Just enjoying the long drives. I am used to "Check Engine" light now, someday will surely replace the EGR valve.

Had been to Kolhapur last month and got an mileage (or average, whatever one prefers to call it) of 12+. I usually get around 10.5-11 km/ltr. in the city and 11+ on the highway (with AC on all the time.)

There are certainly few (minor) issues considering the age of the vehicle but then overall I am happy. Replaced ball-joints recently, and the winder of the right-hand side rear window. Condenser fan was also replaced few days back.

Am planning to update here all the work I have done recently along with the expenses involved.

But all-in-all, I am very happy and my kids just enjoy the drives in this vehicle.

Thanks for the updates. These are minor issues for a vehicle that has covered 1.8 lakh kilometres. Looking forward to your expense sheet.

The vehicle condition looks promising from the pictures. Have you got the suspension overhauled? How is the alignment of the vehicle? I recently after a long time for first time got the correct alignment. Do post update on Water issue, my Safari glows Check engine light if I take it above 2.2K rpm, this goes after the car is restarted. I am too used to it now.

Did not overhauled the suspension in last one year. Haven't faced any alignment issues yet. Never felt as if the vehicle is dragging to one side.

Here's an interesting thing about "Check Engine" light. I know its due to faulty EGR valve. But sometimes if I stop engine for some time, and then restart, the light doesn't glow for hours (even after driving continuously for more than 100 km.)

Just another day or two and then I am going to pull out everything that I can out of my car to find the root cause for the water issue. Will surely post the update here.

.
Why don't you get the EGR cleaned?
