This is the oil I bought - 3.5ltr

20161209_213242.jpg

& also you can see oil level. I've changed oil filter as I do every time on servicing. So what you think do I need to put extra 100ml oil or is it fine?

Hi Dr Mudhan. How has your experience been with the life span of Philips Xtreme vision H4 lights? I got one installed 6 months ago; the first one fused after 4 months of use and the second one yesterday :(
My electrician checked the wiring and relays and said everything is fine..

Hi All,

My 2009 Taffeta White Honda City SAT (62k Running) will be completing 8 years in March 2017. Till date ownership experience is awesome. No major issues faced. But now I think ageing is showing its face. I have scheduled servicing on coming wednesday and below are issues to be fixed.

- Driverside window glass control switch not working for passenger side door. I am expecting it to be replaced ( 3-4 K expense?)

-I am using 90/100 bulbs and still light is very poor. Look like reflectors have given up after years. I am looking for some solution to fix this. Cost of replacing headlamp must be very high. (20k?) Is it better to go for Projectors? any other suggestion please.

- I am observing vibration during stop and go traffic on braking. I think it may due to brake pads.

- Both bumpers requires painting (10k?)

- There is 'click' sound when I change gear from Reverse to Drive. Not sure how critical is this. Anybody faced similar issue?

- Regular engine oil and filter change

Look lke this service will be costliest one till date!!

Good. [clap]

I haven't tested all the cars available here but personally I find my car more satisfied one and I doubt I could replace the same with any other car so I have decided not to change my car for 15 years atleast and now its only half way. [:D]

Mine started malfunctioning right after buying. Requested SA for replacement under warranty but it didn't work out. Tried to repair myself but used to fail again after-a-while. Eventually bought a new one from ebay.in for 2k and installed myself. Now it is not available in ebay but you can get from SparesnCare.com or Partsbigboss.in. Tell them the correct model and they will source one for you.

I think high wattage bulbs made the reflectors dull. You can look for projectors now and get it installed in the same headlight housing. Ping bhvm for the same and he will advice you the best.

- I am observing vibration during stop and go traffic on braking. I think it may due to brake pads.

Not just brake pads but could be anything that is connected to wheels, including suspensions. Service center may find out the cause or a well know 3rd party car repair center.

- Both bumpers requires painting (10k?)

When I asked SA few years ago, he said 5-6k for both bumpers. I think now it should be 8k around.

- There is 'click' sound when I change gear from Reverse to Drive. Not sure how critical is this. Anybody faced similar issue?

Grease or lubricant would solve the noise but in worst case, it could be worn gearbox parts. Again service center or car repair center would find out.

- Regular engine oil and filter change

Look lke this service will be costliest one till date!!

Did you got 60k servicing done or its pending now? It is a major service so it will also cover transmission oil as well as brake fluid (every 3 years). Of course it will be costly service but not much to worry [:)]
Thanks...

Thanks a lot Cracing for the details!! Let me check online for Power window
switch. I have already done 60 K servicing so Transmission fluid is already changed.

Ok then you still have 3k KMs more for next service (i.e 65K) and that time you can get engine oil and filter changed. For now you can just get the issues fixed. [:)]

DIY - CAR AIR Filter (HEPA)

After doing some research over car air filter which was quite costly, I thought why couldnt we make it for myself or just replace the existing filter with HEPA filter to reduce pollutant like PM2.5 particles. Good HEPA filter normally give 99.7% clean air. I have AirGuard(aqaugard/forbes) air filter at home. Wanted something like that in car. Normally car airpurifiers cost upwards of 5k. Wanted something less costly solution for my upcoming trip(Delhi-Mumbai+Alibaug+Goa+Delhi+some more places) we are going to spend quite time in car(Honda city iVtec) our 4500-5000km road trip. We do this trip every year, in between we visit places in rajastan like mount abu, jaipur, udaipur, ajmer, jailsalmer etc.

So simple solution I thought buying home airpurifier's filter and cut it in size of our car filter and replace current car airfilter with HEPA filter to get fresh air.

I bought HEPA filter from Amazon for 1470/-

Airtech Air Purifier High Efficient HEPA Filter: Amazon.in: Home & Kitchen

In last pic, I have added pre-filter to keep visible dust getting into filter directly, this way this filter will have longer lifespan. I used very thin cloth as Pre-Filter.

Last week I got my city serviced and Please find updates in below quote

- Driverside window glass control switch not working for passenger side door. I am expecting it to be replaced ( 3-4 K expense?)

Switch is gone bad and need replacement. Honda Quaoted Rs 4800 + Labor. I refused to get it done. As Cracing suggested for online purchase. I searched online but was not avalable anywhere. Shared Query on Sparesncare.com. They promptly called back for details, shared picture with them. Next day they shared link for the switch. I have order it online from their website and expected to Deliver today. I will get it replced from FNG

-I am using 90/100 bulbs and still light is very poor. Look like reflectors have given up after years. I am looking for some solution to fix this. Cost of replacing headlamp must be very high. (20k?) Is it better to go for Projectors? any other suggestion please.

I am thinking of getting external projector lamps like XP Micro. I have seen good feedback of these projectors. But still not sure where to fit on City. Mine is 2009 model, it does not Fog lamp arrangement else I would replaced have fog lamps with these projectors Any Suggestion on placement?

- I am observing vibration during stop and go traffic on braking. I think it may due to brake pads.

Honda reviewed, Brake pads, Engine mount etc but no issue . Everything is fine. I am also not observing these vibrations anymore. Hope to continue so

- Both bumpers requires painting (10k?)

I am planning to get this done from outside as external quote are about 7-8K as compared to 10-12k from Honda

- There is 'click' sound when I change gear from Reverse to Drive. Not sure how critical is this. Anybody faced similar issue?

As per Honda service This sound is heard only during start of the day and its perfectly fine. As per them its because of High RPM. It was same with other automatic Honda city at the service center.

- Regular engine oil and filter change

Here is surprise, usually I put mineral oil and charged around Rs 12XX for the same. Honda has substantially reduced Synthetic oil price. This time I paid just rs 15XX for 3.6 liter Engine oil. This is Awesome!!

Look lke this service will be costliest one till date!!
Overall bill was just Rs 3850[clap] + Rs 2000 for Driver side switch ordered from outside.

PART IX:
MY CARS & THE CROWS:

How many products are there in the market!! We have narrowed down between Formula 1 - Carnauba Wash & Wax Shampoo and ABRO-Premium Gold Car wash. I got a deal @ snapdeal.com, Abro 946ml for Rs.361/-, bought and shared a sample to my brother. It’s really good. But still some crows followed.
Dear sir,
A quick question. I bought a pre owned car (City ivtec sapphire blue) a month backand I am wondering what can I do to keep the dust to minimum. I also face the issue of bird droppings, thanks to metallic color ;)

I was wondering, should I get only 3m Auto Speciality Shampoo (For wash) + Formula 1 carnauba wax (for waxing) and Formula 1 tyre shine (for tyres). Or get Abro premium which has wax in it and skip the 3M + Formula 1 combo.

Also should I need something seperately for polishing? And I am yet to get something to keep the alloys good (May be Formula 1 Foam Wheel cleanser?) Please help.

Hello..

Have few update for my car which I would like to share with you..

First this is DIY. Installation of FootWell lights.. [:)]
Its very useful in the night time to search things around and to see the area around the car clearly.. Also it looks premium and pleasant..

Clicked few Pictures of installation for reference..

Things to start with...
IMG_6948.JPG

For this Installation I have decided not to take power supply from any wire by cutting or splicing it. So other option left is to take power out from cabin lamp..

City Cabin Light.. Without glass..

Rear side of Lamp..
IMG_20161224_151732.jpg

Red circle shows the possible power points for the footwell lights..

Rough connection done for testing of lights..
IMG_20161224_152905.jpg

Final Connection..
IMG_20161224_152909.jpg

If you want more firm connections then soldering is the way, as I don't wanted to do any alteration I did it in simple way...

Routing of Wiring from B pillar..
IMG_20161224_145143.jpg

Coupler added to divide connections from Main supply..
IMG_20161224_145136.jpg

Final Result.. [clap]
IMG_6953.JPG

Please refer the video for Final result.. As I have connected it to Cabin Lamp it's default Theater Dimming effect also there on Foot Well lights..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz7ffkTmqTU

While installation I have test it at every point to double sure everything works in a proper way..

Another thing is about Tire, which is a Sad story in the start of New year..
While roaming around in the Mumbai on last late evening of 2016 car hit on pothole which is almost invisible.. [frustration]
The impact is moderate.. Neither huge nor small.. I have continue to drive as no abnormal thing noticed in drive-ability after impact..

Next day in day light I have seen...
IMG_6994.JPG

New years gift with huge bulge on tire which got hit... When i saw the size of bulge I feel like how tire got survived from the impact??

Next moment only rushed out to my tire installer to check any further possibilities of replacement. As per my experience which we face in our organisation Benelli on daily basis, its routine that tire companies denies the warranty on side wall bulging..
Owner of the tire shop told me we will claim it for warranty but possibility of approval is 10% only..
With no option left installed new tire. He done the process of warranty claim & asked me to give back the call once reply will come from Michelin. All this happened on Sunday, to be my surprise I got the message from Michelin on Monday evening stating your claim is approved & 50% discount will be given to you on pro-rata basis.. The feeling is like when you expect nothing you always get something..

Next day called to Shop owner, he ask me to come at shop to collect the discounted money as I paid full amount for new tire. I appreciate his support that he didn't prepare invoice for new tire so that if claim gets approved he can provide me discount on same purchase.

What more you expect in Automobile Service that too from Tire dealer.. Happy...

Hello,
Dear sir,
A quick question. I bought a pre owned car (City ivtec sapphire blue) a month back
Heartiest congratulations and welcome to Honda City family. [clap]

I am wondering what can I do to keep the dust to minimum. I also face the issue of bird droppings, thanks to metallic color ;)
With a good quality wax, dust attraction can be minimized and if any, can be easily removed with car duster. I also noticed Proklear RAW products reduce dust attraction to surface but car shampoo increases.

I was wondering, should I get only 3m Auto Speciality Shampoo (For wash) + Formula 1 carnauba wax (for waxing) and Formula 1 tyre shine (for tyres). Or get Abro premium which has wax in it and skip the 3M + Formula 1 combo.
These are recommended products from me:
Sonax Car Wash Shampoo
Muc-Off Ubershine Car Shampoo (Good product but hard to find now)

Armor All Wash & Wax (Most of their other products are good too)
Proklear's WAW (Wash & Wax Shampoo)
Proklear's RAW Xtreme CX (Waterless Wash & Wax)

Meguiar's Hi-Tech Yellow Liquid wax (Available in Flipkart for ~750)
Mothers California Gold Synthetic Wax (Available in Ebay India for ~1000)
Menzerna Sealing Wax Protection (Available in Amazon and Paytm for ~300)
Menzerna Power Protect Ultra (Available in Paytm for ~400) (This is a AIO type wax. It has cleaning, polishing, filling and protection abilities so you don't have to use multiple products. Saves time, effort and money. You can use this once a year.)
Meguiar's Black Wax (Available in Paytm for ~1000) (AIO type wax, same as above)

Proklear's SX Car Wax Spray (Application is little difficult but durability is great)
Optimum OCW4 Car Wax (Expensive but very durable and protects from UV rays)

Note: Shampoo that has high cleaning ability (i.e bug and tar cleaner) will strip wax coating so make sure you buy a mild shampoo. However, when you want to apply new wax, you can use strong shampoo.

Also should I need something seperately for polishing? And I am yet to get something to keep the alloys good (May be Formula 1 Foam Wheel cleanser?) Please help.
Separate product for wheel cleaning is not really necessary and car shampoo works fine for it but still I have bought Wavex Alloy Wheel Cleaner and will post review soon in Car Detailing Basics thread. For more queries on car maintenance and detailing, feel free to ask in that thread. [:)]

Thanks...
Best Regards

Thank you for sharing the information.

PART 102

FOOTWELL LIGHT / COURTESY LIGHT / AMBILIGHT / MOOD LIGHT

Recently I bought from AE a good quality LED strip to make a MOOD LIGHT for my 55 inch TV.
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LED.../1857949964.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.ZI6q1l

You can cut, join with joiners and connect to any mobile chargers. What I liked most is the powerful RF remote which makes you to change the colors of the LEDs to our choice – White, sunlight orange, blue and more.

That made me to think a better Footwell light for the car.

If you want to go for your car this would be a better choice.

Ensure:
1. LED strip 5050 RGB Flexible Light 2M, which you can make 4 or multiple pieces
2. IP65 waterproof for safety
3. With external remote, will make you understand why I call it MOOD LIGHT.
4. LED RGB Joiners
5. Neat wiring/ pasting under the seat
6. Wiring , as suggested by HaruH or as this what we use for LED Door Sill, tapping wires meant for dome light .
7. Don’t forget to switch off while the car is given for servicing, the remote can do on/off and in case ‘on’ , it will remember your last color mode.

Have a wonderful MOOD! [lol]

Thanks a lot Cracing for the details!! Let me check online for Power window
switch. I have already done 60 K servicing so Transmission fluid is already changed.
