Re: My New Chevrolet Enjoy

Hello Vishwas and Varun,

Congrats on the purchase of Chevrolet Enjoy. I am Vijayendar S, from Chennai and have also bought a Chevrolet Enjoy LTZ 7-seater diesel last month, (August 16th) from KLN motors, Kilpauk, Chennai.

Can you please answer my queries related to fuel filter and service? I would be very much obliged if you do so.

1. I have driven the car for 292 Kms so far and on the highway - using a driver of course. I have not yet driven it myself. Now, from the 170 Kms mark onwards, the car showed the Water in Fuel warning light (Red Light next to Fuel required light) whenever the car was being driven - It remained 'ON' throughout the journey and still turns ON during ignition and stays ON.
2. On reading the manual, it says drain the fuel filter immediately at your nearest service center. If it happens frequently, drain the fuel tank. My guess is, this is because of poor Diesel quality at the fuel station.
3. On taking it for the mandatory first month service this Saturday, I pointed this out to the servicing engineer (KLN motors, Chennai, but another area near Guindy). He called up in the evening to tell me that the fuel filter has water in it, has bloated up and needs to be changed and that it will cost Rs.1300/- for this. It seems that this change is not covered by warranty or insurance. I was shocked - I told him to simply drain the fuel tank and water in the filter and that no change is necessary. He is insisting on the fuel filter change and scaring me that if I fail to do so, I will face problems later on and warranty will be void.

It seems warranty and Insurance cannot be claimed because this change is due to water entering the filter and this is not covered by warranty or insurance. The manual says it is enough to drain the water in the filter and/or fuel tank - it says nothing about changing the fuel filter which should ideally happen at 20,000 or 40,000 Kms.

Am I being ripped off by the service guy?? Is this a manufacturing defect?? Has anybody faced this issue with their Enjoy vehicles?? I am really annoyed at the service center's attitude!! Can anyone please answer my queries?? Any response is highly appreciated.

Take Care and Happy Driving.

Warm Regards,
Vijayendar S

Nice Pics out there Varun, one doubt, how did you fix the music player in there? i mean with what support is the music player standing with?

The console you asked for wasn't available with the serivce centre people and the mud flaps costs 700Rs it seems, it was way too expensive for a plastic part.
I have used a plastic piece (material used to make switch boards) to hold the HU. I too have ordered that console, it costs 190rs. Mud flaps are too expensive.

congo bro, happy miles ahead. [:)]
i miss your 800 with ultra loud sound system.
Thanks. This too got the same setup as in my 800.

I guess you could just get the fuel filter cleaned. Try to get it checked in any other service center.

We have not faced this issue. Any way I will confirm by tomorrow.

I confirmed with the service center, you just need to get the fuel filter cleaned and your car will be back in action.

It has two channel connectivity, I have bridged the connections to power the Sub. Here are some pic;s.

I got it from a member on the other forum for 2,700 rs.

Hi Varun & Viswas

Both of u r enjoying your rides with full satisfaction....[:D]
I have an query related to stock Head lamps.! ! !
Am running with Stock lamps but am satisfied at all during rainy season even the ride was so irritating and cant able to see the front. Is you running with stock lamps or changed to After market lamps ? and suggest me a GOOD night lamp for GM Enjoy. The lamps provided are two different lamps for LOW and HIGH BEAM (55W H1+H7 Halogen) and unable to change by single lamp. How to change these lamps with cutout for using high wattage or something else ? Kindly clarify me.

Hope Viswas wont mind asking in Varun thread..[:)]

Wiring kit alone (of good quality) will cost 1500 rs. Enclosure will cost around 700 for a 12 inch sub.

Varun,
Good aesthetics, white box matches with the interior.
Rating of the sub?
The sub is 1100 watts.

Hi Sathish, please do not add any wiring kits it will void your warranty. The stock headlamps combined with fog lamps give a good visibility.

If you need to make it better try getting extreme vision bulbs of same wattage. Since you are from chennai tomorrow we have a meet at yelagiri
pls attend.

Re: My New Chevrolet Enjoy

Congrats Varun that you are really Enjoying your new car!
LOL, Congrats on the purchase! I drove Varun's car few days after his purchase, when I went to see my car at the garage. Hope Varun doesn't mind if I share a few points I noticed in his car.

Positives:
1. SPACE, SPACE & SPAAAAAAAACE...tons of it
2. Engine refinement is good & turbo surprisingly kicks in a bit early & helps in city driving by great extent
3. Clutch is feather light (yes its a hydraulic one), Gearshift is weightless! the effort required is so less (much lesser than Beat, Zen, Sumo etc)
4. Turning radius is lesser than what I thought
5. Tyre upgrade is adding more fun to the drive
6. Wheel caps look almost like alloys at night
7. AC throw is fantastic, cooling is felt even in last row within a minute of switching on the AC.
8. A complete VFM car, that delivers more features than its competitor Ertiga at a lesser price.
9. All service points are easy to access - air filter, oil filter is behind grill instead of underside, ECU is in engine bay (but well protected from water etc)
10. Rear Wheel Drive, turbo charged Fiat engine, HPS, Coil springs, double AC, power windows - that's a lot of things to get factory fitted in this segment.
11. Car will be easy to drive even in city, although it doesn't look like that
12. If last row is folded, the luggage space is fantastic.
13. Suspension is good, did a fast TD on a variety of roads, comfortable ride guaranteed

Downside:
1. Quality of plastic on the door lock/unlock thing is not that good
2. Looks is where this car loses to Ertiga, boxy rear design can be a deal breaker for some buyers
3. Second gear with AC seems to have less power (only in this gear) - may be I am wrong
4. With all seats up, almost nill luggage space (just like ertiga)
5. Overall plastics are not bad (like say nano/sumo victa/etios etc), I just expected a bit more since so many features were available
6. Wheels could have been a bit bigger for a car this size
7. Strength of the armrest in middle seats is something to worry about on the long run
LOL ss80! Both, the boot space in Ertiga and Enjoy are better than the Xylo's and with 3rd row seats folded flat in Ertiga, you can get 735lts boot space and lots of flexibility and sliding/reclining middle row seats can make space even for 6 footers whereas in Enjoy you get 690 litres and loads of seating space! Both are great VFM spacious cars!

Re: My New Chevrolet Enjoy

Thanks DJ bro..

FE update - after the meet yesterday I had to top up again.

I could drive 638 kms out of 45 liters. So Fe is around 14.17.
This is with full A/C and 60 % city driving and 40 highways.

At highways speed was always 100- 120 kmph..

I am happy that this is not a fuel guzzler.

The stock headlamps are good enough on the visibility front, i suggest you put fog lamps for better visibility at times of rains.
The far right lamps(circular in shape) are low beams.

So how is the brake feedback in your car, mine and Varun's need some amount of pressure while braking, are facing the same issue too? Please start and ownership review thread on your car too!

Re: My New Chevrolet Enjoy

How to add some external and internal character to enjoy ?

1. a tuning box for perfomance

2. a pair of hella Rallye 3000/3003 , will that be huge and where to mount on ?

3. A pair of Hella 700FF will be small ?

4. Are the carryboy grills availiable for enjoy ?

5. How about a wooden trim for the dash board ?

6. How about the quality of the turn indicators on the ORVM's , how is it fixed ?

7. A drivers hand rest , Is it availiable for Enjoy ? I had it on my Vista and i can't live with it now.
