Re: My New Chevrolet Enjoy
Hello Vishwas and Varun,
Congrats on the purchase of Chevrolet Enjoy. I am Vijayendar S, from Chennai and have also bought a Chevrolet Enjoy LTZ 7-seater diesel last month, (August 16th) from KLN motors, Kilpauk, Chennai.
Can you please answer my queries related to fuel filter and service? I would be very much obliged if you do so.
1. I have driven the car for 292 Kms so far and on the highway - using a driver of course. I have not yet driven it myself. Now, from the 170 Kms mark onwards, the car showed the Water in Fuel warning light (Red Light next to Fuel required light) whenever the car was being driven - It remained 'ON' throughout the journey and still turns ON during ignition and stays ON.
2. On reading the manual, it says drain the fuel filter immediately at your nearest service center. If it happens frequently, drain the fuel tank. My guess is, this is because of poor Diesel quality at the fuel station.
3. On taking it for the mandatory first month service this Saturday, I pointed this out to the servicing engineer (KLN motors, Chennai, but another area near Guindy). He called up in the evening to tell me that the fuel filter has water in it, has bloated up and needs to be changed and that it will cost Rs.1300/- for this. It seems that this change is not covered by warranty or insurance. I was shocked - I told him to simply drain the fuel tank and water in the filter and that no change is necessary. He is insisting on the fuel filter change and scaring me that if I fail to do so, I will face problems later on and warranty will be void.
It seems warranty and Insurance cannot be claimed because this change is due to water entering the filter and this is not covered by warranty or insurance. The manual says it is enough to drain the water in the filter and/or fuel tank - it says nothing about changing the fuel filter which should ideally happen at 20,000 or 40,000 Kms.
Am I being ripped off by the service guy?? Is this a manufacturing defect?? Has anybody faced this issue with their Enjoy vehicles?? I am really annoyed at the service center's attitude!! Can anyone please answer my queries?? Any response is highly appreciated.
Take Care and Happy Driving.
Warm Regards,
Vijayendar S
