Re: My Manza Aura ABS QJet - Truly a Breed Apart

Just this trip I tested my Manza. That too because I was provoked once by one Innova with 2 guys on my way to Chennai and on the way back by one Verna. Even my wife, who is my speed governor, was cheesed up by these guys and let me have a go at them. (BTW, she took those pictures). I had to touch 170 to overtake the Verna and keep it in my rear view mirror.

Usually even when provoked I keep to my own pace.
Falling as a prey to provocations is the main cause of disaster on highways. Every driving enthusiast's racing DNA urges him to push beyond limits when provoked. But only a smart and intelligent driver realizes that at the end of all, we are on a highway and not on a F1 race track. The best thing to do when provoked is to think the other driver is biggest fool on earth and ignore. No body is going to hand over a trophy for overtaking on highways unlike F1 race. So whats the point in risking our own and our fellow travellers' life for the sake of few idiots on roads? There is another thread in TAI which talks about safe highway driving habits. As TAIans, let us urge to follow the same and teach others also a lesson.

Drive safe and enjoy many more happy miles with your Manza. Treat your car as a princess instead of a speed machine. Am sure she will not disappoint you

[cheers]

Excellent.

But it goes against your name - You are matured and stable not freak[evil]

These are words of wisdom.

Me too try to practice what you said above (if we see some other driver behaving differently - then just think that he is a fool and go on with our business).

Regarding your slogan? its better to be a fool in our roads because I see many times people - bikes, bicycles, autos, people, cattle and dogs block your way completely and won't move until you honk and honk loudly.

@carfreak

Some of us like to push our cars just to see what our cars are capable of. I am one of them. I now know what my car is capable of.

The provocation was a chance for me to do so. But I never push my car to the limit often and I am not a rash driver. Driving fast and rash driving are 2 different things.

I have been driving for 22 odd years and have never caused an accident. Apart from getting hit by a Sumo from behind in the thick of Bangalore traffic a few years back.

I take it you like to push your Alto to its limit - as per your post.[:)]
"Economy – City driving: @14-15 kmpl. Highway driving: @18-20kmpl {Am a guy who pushes the car to its limit often (not rash though), so cant expect any better mileage}"

BTW thanks for your advise.

I am a part of IT, yes. But not in the youth brigade.

Those 22 years are regular driving years, and not counting the years when I used to drive my friends cars. I have been driving Ambassadors, Fiat selects, and Standard Herald.

Got my first license (Book) driving an Ambassador Mark II.

My age??? Any guess?

You surely can do better than that.

Have you driven or seen a Standard Herald driven on the road?[:D]

Here is a clue. Picture taken in June this year during my Kanyakumari trip.

Thanks and through my signature, I intended to convey unnecessarily honking should be avoided. I have seen few people honk at a red signal which gets really irritating [evil]

@Xover, Thanks mate.

@Highway Ranger, Every car enthusiast would like to push his car to limits just to have a feel of it. Yes even I agree pushing the machine to limits is different from rash driving. As per me, dangerous situation would be when we push our rides to limits due to provocation. And great to know that you have not been involved in any crashes in 22 years of driving. Thats an inspiration for most of us here. [thumbswink]

Agreed

What I find annoying here in Bangalore is not rash drivers (Autos/cabs), but slow drivers who drift from their lane even without knowing what they are doing and another kind who think that when the turn on the indicator everybody else should stop and give way.

Autos/cabs, we know their way of driving and we give allowance. But private cars drifting and cutting lanes without looking at their rear view mirror really pose a major threat.

Hum. Now I can guess your age somewhat.

Don't want to tell here since you look younger than your age, looks fit and maintained body well.

Manza is for relaxed driving and keep enjoying comfortable drives.

Meantime the speed Manza can attain in highways due to shear momentum is enormous. It may take some time to attain speed (compared some other quick off the block cars) but once we reach a speed we can maintain that for long distances without much acceleration.

Hope you have guessed my age right. Looks are deceptive [;)]

Regarding 'quick off the block cars', Manza is no slow starter. You should drive it at proper rpm and you can keep up with most cars in acceleration. Rev up the engine and change gears and watch it take off.

Best part I like is, when you are traveling at 120 or 130, just a slight push on the pedal will let you shoot past the traffic easily. Amazing pickup at these speeds. That too, with the AC on.

In Bangalore if you see a Manza shooting off from green lights or keeping ahead of the traffic, that is me.

Enjoy your ride.[cheers]

I am pretty sure guys who own Swift Dezire would get a mild heart shock after reading about the wonderful pick-up / acceleration of MANZA. [evil]

Keep it going mate. [:)]

Re: My Manza Aura ABS QJet - Truly a Breed Apart

It also depends upon the state of mind of the driver.

My co-worker in his swift vdi and me in my previous 2004 Zen petrol had a race from our office in Bagmane Teck Park till Egipura signal on intermediate ring road. The Zen beat swift royally.

But then, on another occasion, for an company offsite, the same 2 cars had a race on Mysore road. Both the cars had 4 people inside with AC on. After reaching 140, I could see Swift just taking off and disappearing from my view. My Zen wouldn't move over 140 with 4 full grown adults and AC.

I haven't driven a Dezire, but reviews say it is quicker than Manza.

Re: My Manza Aura ABS QJet - Truly a Breed Apart

Last evening I had been to Hosur to pick up my wife. When we were returning around 6:60 pm, there was a heavy downpour and the Chandhapura Rail under bridge was flooded. There was a traffic jam for around half a kilometers and the traffic was moving at snail pace.

Usually if there is deep water logging on the roads, I usually keep up my momentum and keep going at the lower gears 1/2 depending upon the depth of water and speed.

Yesterday, the water logging was more than a foot deep and had to inch my way at such slow pace, due to the traffic and had my engine raised to above 2500 rpm and praying that car should not stall. There were a few cars stalled, one maruti omni in the middle of the pool of water, and hell of a lot of bikes stranded. Very bad scene.

Deep water logging near Hebbagoodi and in other small stretches made life hell for the bikers, Many of whom were doing all sorts of things to get their bike started.

It is too sad Bangalore roads cannot withstand half and hour of heavy rain. That too, on a toll road.
