Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

issues i faced : hated the horn since day one, since i was embarking on a long journey , wanted better horns, i got them changed with bosch power horns ( pair instead of the single bhopu ones we have) , took extra care that the wires r not cut, after a hundred km's the horn stopped working. since it was highway had to stop at the local repairwallah. he took a look and told me the horn fuze had gone off and he did not have the fuze which these new cars come fitted with. I drove down to chandigarh without horns for the last leg of about 100kms.

next day went to the electrician in sec 21c market. The electrician was a novice, i told him to simply check the blown horn fuze and do nothing else, he asked me to open the bonnet and wanted to check the wiring, i shouted at him and told him to concentrate only in the fuze box. he tried to find the horn fuze but cud not. Took out a couple of fuzes and placed them back. Since he was going nowhere, he put the blame on me saying u want this and that and he will not fix my car. I was pissed to the core and decided to take the car to honda but to my surprise the car did not start. I feared the worse. New car , not even a week old and blah blah, new city and now i am in a mess. I called him back and asked him what else did he touch. he was adamant that he took out the fuze and placed them back in the same position. I said i want my car back in the same way it was. He called his superior. This guy seemed more knowledgeable and asked the earlier guy as to what he did. He started checking the fuzebox and started matching the fuzes with the stock picture on the fuze box cover. Line 3 did not have any fuze in the pic but the novice electrician had placed a fuze there. he simply placed it in the right point and bingo my car started. I told him to check the horn fuze and in seconds he took it out. As confirmed by the highway mechanic, it was the one that had issues.

The stock one was 10amp and he suggested me to go for 20 amp since i was using 2 horns now instead of one. His decision proved right and I came back to delhi without any issues.

Wow now that's a story . I can very understand the rush of emotions you must have experienced when the car suddenly stopped working but anyway it's all perfect . Guys have been saying about dashboard rattling in brio do you have faced similar kind of issue ? When I had taken a test drive I did drive it on very bad roads but there was not a single squeak or rattle heard the test car was some 3500 Kms done .

Along with dashboard rattle also pls let us know about ac cooling,is that sufficient to cool the cabin fast like maruti cars.

While test driving i found smt steering is way down touching my lap, also while entering it rubs my lap/legs badly.do u feel the same?

even i asked dealer guy if they or factory can shift this steering little more high then i ll be more comfortable to book the car but as per him its not possible & he insisted me to go for smt (o) model as it has tiltable steering feature.
Now i have 3 concerns the most imp is steering low height on smt model along with dashboard rattle and low cooling.

I checked vmt steering height and its perfect when tilted in uppermost postion.

it did indeed rattle once before on a very bad road but on my NH1 trip, i always had music on so never noticed it again. Also the road was pretty smooth all the way to chandigarh. Will make it a point to switch off the music when i m driving in delhi bad roads :p: just to see if it comes again. also my 1st service will be due by month end. will speak to the dealer about it.

They would be maintaining the TD car well knowing hondas penchant for quality.

Never faced any issues so far but yes in extreme hot conditions it does take about 5 to 10 minutes to cool ( if ur car has been in sun for long). Another way is to roll down the windows and start the blower for a few minutes so that the stale air is released before u up the windows and start the AC.

I am not very tall at 5.7" but yes while getting out during my initial drives, it did touch my thighs. I had to make some adjustments and now have no issues.

Also once you own a new car, it takes time to adjust to the car seats and steering since your used to the ones in the previous car. But with time you get used to your new car and these things fall in line.

Issue would have been if it was touching my thighs while driving but then i would not have purchased this car had that been the case :p:

Not at all. From outside it may look compact but its wider and spacious than the new swift dzire. The inner ergonomics are such that it seems very plush/airy and space management has been hondas plus with this car. Easily accommodates 3 adults and the back seat is very comfortable. swift dzire wins only in boot space.

to elaborate my point about wideness, see this pic from the 3rd floor where i stay. would be shifting this month end and am happy to say that i am getting a better parking place for my brio :p:

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

got 1st free service done 3 days in advance. Speedometer had clocked only 850 odd kms.
purpose of visit to ring road honda was to get the fog lights installed. Finally after a month of wait, they are now working properly. Since i was at the showroom, asked the service guy to do the 1st free service too. Took about an hour.

Also got 2 years extended warranty for 4900 bucks. The cost is going to increase by Rs 700 from Sept 1 ( Rs 4900 to 5600 or so). Also honda is increasing the cost of RSA by Rs 300 odd. So if anyone is planning to get extended warranty , its the right time to get it done before month end.

Observations after 1st service
the gears have become smoother.
engine is revving up better
the car started shining more  coz of the polish :p:

honda service rocks.
