Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

i got Autocop XS installed for Rs 2800. He had quoted me 3k initially.

Took the company guy about 1.5 hrs but he did a good job. The engineer left the boot part since he found no place to fit in the switch. Now everything is protected except the boot!!!! The back glass being so big, he said there is no place to fit the switch as there is equal padding on all sides and placing the button will prevent the boot from closing properly. Also he did not want to take any chances with the rear glass. Said the company is planning to add options for such cars and if they release something for the boot in future, i would get a call.

it covers all 4 doors and the front bonnet, has reverse horn, car finder option, option to mute the reverse horn and also the locking part. The remote control is water proof so that is a bonus. Best part i liked was i can still open and lock the car with my stock keyless key as well. This security system needs to be fitted with the drivers door only unlike in old cars where u had to open all doors to get them fitted.

I did not take the sensor one intentionally since i had that in my palio and found it to be more of a nuisance. if it rained hard, the sirens used to get activated. My car had a battery drain twice and the case worth mentioning is while i was out of station during diwali. The sound of crackers got them activated and when i came back, the batter went kaput. Add to my misery, had to listen to complaints from my neighbors that the sirens kept ringing for a few hrs and they cud not sleep

was a big headache initially and later i had to get the sensors deactivated.

Well summed up. Now, with the gear-lock in place as well, the car can be termed as secure. Touchwood [:)]

Oh, by the way, was the arm-rest company fitted or from a local dealer??

another feature of autocop which i noticed today, if the engine is on and any door is opened, it gives a continuous beep untill u close the door. nice security measure i must say.

Yea, totally agree to that one.

I believe they (Autocop) must have given you 2 sets of lock/unlock keys. Can you provide a pic of the same? I have done so in Sudeep's thread.

What are the new add-ons you plan to upgrade your car with? [:D]

here is the pic of the remote, got a pair

wrt addons, i think i am done as of now. My bill for accessories has come to 30,875

Maybe i would go in for the reverse camera options later. genuine honda ones cost @ 10200 or so while there r many brands in market which are available for 1/3 the price.

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

update time
2 days back noticed a peculiar sound from the autocop after locking. searched here n there but cud not find anything special. a few minutes later realized that the middle light ( dont know the exact term) was on inspite of locking the car. Touched the bulb and found it quite hot which meant that some connection wrt autocop was amiss. after turning on the ignition saw the door open sign was red. tried opening n closing all doors but that light would still show as red. Drove the car straight to autocop service station in nariana and raised a ticket. the service engineer simply asked me to open the bonnet and pressed the switch. the red light vanished. The curves of the car are such that locking becomes a pain. He added a few more layers of rubber and now everything seems ok.

also exchanged both the remotes with the antenna ones since i found the coverage less compared to the antenna ones which i had in my palio. searching the car in mall parking had became an issue  they replaced them FOC.

later today would be taking it to the highway and a 500km plus journey awaits my brio. called honda guys and asked them if i need to take care of anything and they politely told me to drive as usual. lets see how much average it gives as in city I have driven 270 kms with an average of 10.7 to 11.3 and after filling up the tank have done a reset. Also would like to mention that most of my city driving has been in bumper 2 bumper traffic with ac on all the time.

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

it handled very well on the highway. a few stretches had knee high water near pipli and after crossing karnal. not to mention the road was covered with mud coz of the semi built flyovers. The rear glass did become dirty and visibility became almost zero but thanks to the OVRM's it was not a huge issue. later on the rain drained the mud off. Seriously i missed a wiper.

FE showed 16.3 to 17.1 with AC on on my 550 km journey which i think is decent since i have not crossed 1000 Kms yet. went upto 120 on the odometer and overtaking was not an issue.

Serious water issue in brio-see the post below:
Rain water came inside the car, which is ridiculous where the water level was not that much high. Just half of tyres were sunk in the rain water in parking. And water gone inside the car when the car was standing still. I purchased the from Sunshine ... Honda, Jaipur. Today when i went to the service center, they examined it but not sure why water went inside. Infact they are charging Rs. 2000/- for the cleaning, drying the carpet and re-fitting it. This is ridiculous and annoying. Firstly it is impossible that rain water went inside the car where the water level is not too high. There were 8-9 more cars were there in the parking like Skoda fabia, Hyundai Accent, Skoda Octavia, Beat, Figo, Alto and an old Maruti 800. But the rain water only went inside the Maruti 800, alto and beat, not in any other car. Not even inside Accent which have less ground clearance then Brio. Should i feel pity to choose Brio or do something else ?
