That's the question, for one who is not at all bothered about Looks and is happy with what they already are, does it make any sense to spend 30 or 50 thousand, whatever it is, on Alloys? Are they worth it? Can anybody help?

1) Alloys improves the braking of your car because it dissipate heat faster.
2) It improves the performance as it decreases the weight.
3) Its stronger than Steel wheels.
4) Looks good.

don't know about anything more if it has any other benefits do tell me.
Not really buddy.

Yes, what you are saying is right but the difference is braking and performance is so minor that the difference would be negligible.

Alloys look good, that's for sure.

In my views, alloys don't do anything else except saving us from the headache of alignment, wheel balancing etc etc.

Rest, they enhance the looks and being true the steel rims kill the side profile of XUV.They make the car look downmarket.

Irrespective of type of rims, alignment has to be done, as and when required. Wheel balancing too has to be done in case of alloys.
Yes they do look really great and enhance the car's looks.

Didn't note, raj has already mentioned it. My statement is just repetition of above post.

So after listening to all the experts out here, I have come to the conclusion that Alloys are mainly for Cosmetic purpose and most other benefits are not proven or far too negligible in terms of enhancing any value to the car. Since I have already told that I am not the one to care about looks or any perceived downright image of cars who drive with alloys, I stick to continuing with OE provided W6 version of my car.

@Vipul, I know U won't understand my decision. I would go a little off-topic here. You and many others here won't be knowing that I am a Writer as well. I recently came out with my first book but I would like you to read it some twenty years from now because if you read it now, you won't understand it. [;)]

Can I know the name of the book and on what subject it is writeen Lovecars ?

Do what you feel is right if you think alloys will add some value do it if you find your car handsome the way it is let it be the way it is . There is no end I have seen people spending 2 lakhs ruppes for just music system maybe they get some kind of high in listening music through 2 lakhs worth system.
Everybody including me will give you opinions based on our perceptions but it's you who owns the car and reserve the rights on how it must look and please enjoy that rights .
In short do what you feel is right and important . If your family feels some enhancement needs to be done and if you find it logical and feel to inquire about it ask here every1 will help you .

Exactly Raja, in fact while going for post-dinner walk with my wife, I tried to look out for Alloy wheeled cars among those parked on street. Honestly, I didn't find anything too exciting if those indeed were the alloy wheels everyone speaks so highly of.
Spending 40-50k on something which is just for cosmetic purpose doesn't excite me, it wud be better if I use that money to buy an entry-level bike for my office-boy who daily does a commute on bus everyday.

As for the book, I can tell U only this bit that it is not based on Cars or health. It is an entirely different topic which everyone does understand but usually very late in life.[:)]

I have send you the name of the book with details where it is available by p.m.[:)]
As for pics of Interiors of the car, just wait for a couple of days. Our camera lies with my wife and she is very busy in her work for just 2 more days. Even if I get it from her, I know how to click but don't know how to transfer those pics to the computer.[cry][cry]

Yes, W6 does come with Parking Sensors, its impossible to drive such a big car without them. As per my knowledge, the major differences b/w W6 and W8 models of XUV are touch-screen infotainment system, alloy wheels and leather seat covers.

No doubt alloys are more show than go..
:offtopic:
About writing thing and all,I too like it and wrote 93 word pages under the name 'The night of Karma-An untold truth' and the Hindi version is goign to be called 'Karm ki raat'.
But I am not such a writer that I'll run to get it published. Why?Because I'll take forward the business set up by my father, none else..

Connect the data cable and rest of the work will be done by the PC itself,I am waiting for them to come up..

Parking sensors are not that reliable for me.Why?Because I trust my ORVMs more and then sensors don't cover that much area as it is needed for safe reversing.Hence parking sensors+ORVMs=Perfect reversing for me any day.

Will have to wait[;)].

I am quite a tall guy and have reversed all my previous cars without any sensors or cameras or even ORVMs but I do acknowledge that Parking sensors come very handy while reversing a XUV.

Buddy think of the nightmares I'd be facing while reversing Corolla and Honda City without any parking sensors. The IRVM is just for name in these sedans with high beltline and hence we get Lamborghini Gallardo type view from the inner rear view mirror. But still, thanks God that my reversing record is still clear with enough practice accuracy of inches now.

One more reason for me to thank my XUV, thank God, she's a Diesel. With Petrol prices being increased 10% to 73+ in Delhi, Thank God too for inventing Diesel apart from merciless Petrol[clap]
