40K Kms servicing due on next weekend, got some really valuable guidance from fellow members. [clap]

I think the following list

1. Brake check and brake pad change
2. Caliper greasing.
3. Wheel Alignment and balancing
4. Spark plug change ( all )
5. Wheel bearing check and replace ( if faulty )
6. Replace coolants
7. Wiper change ( if faulty )
8. Water pump and AC fan belt change ( this can also consider in 50K service )
9. Front struts change
10. Gear oil change
11. fuel injector cleaning

Out of this 5,8 and 9 is not mandatory unless if there is a problem because maruthi recommend belt change in 50K service

For my car , the front struts are changed in 30K service and at that time the vehicle is in Warranty. So i have nothing to pay.
Please care about the wheel bearing as lot of people ignore that
I would like to add just one more point
Engine air filter replacement

Are there any other measures apart from those I need to look into it?

Re: My Blue Eyed Tallboy Waggie

cool ..mine costed 5k. what else are u planning for your waggie?[:)]

Ohh.. That means I got it too much costly as compare to yours. [surprise]

But, are you sure that you got the same model from Autocop ?

Well, my next upgrade would probably ALLOYs, but not sure though.

Also was thinking about FFE, but not sure if it would be a good idea for a Waggie ?

40K KM service update

Guys,

Today Tallboy got serviced for 40k km regular service and 3rd & last AMC service of the year.

Already got required guidance from fellow TAI members @kumargmks and @VISHNUCARCRAZY , what needs to checked/replaced. Thanks friends.

But my today's experience with MASS was totally disappointing & unsatisfied.

From the beginning, today's experience was pathetic, may it reception staff or SA or other staff.

Even after prior appointment, SA was designated to the customer who came after me and that too without appointment.

Next was the casual inspection by SA (term used by them is inventory).

As I had done all homework, I ruled out all unnecessary things offered by SA.

I had clearly mentioned what needs to be replaced/done and still he added some stuff as Outside labour charges, will elaborate that in detail further.

Next came the long 2 hrs wait for turn of my Tallboy to be on ramp, reason all ramps were busy. I had taken leave from office on weekday to avoid such instance but alas. [frustration]

Normally I get my car delivered by 4-5 pm on each service but today's expected delivery time was 7 pm, reason Sir its 40k KM service and lot of things to be done. Agreed.

My practice at servicing is I always present at MASS throughout the service till the delivery, but since delivery this time was at 7 pm so came back home and reached once again to MASS at 5 pm.

At 5 pm, Tallboy was waiting in Que for his shower. Thought its a good progress and settled in customer lounge. After 1 hr so, checked the status of Tallboy, he was still at same place.

After inquiry, got to know SA got some emergency and he called it a day for himself.

Asked about to whom he has handed over the JOB, all were looking at each others face. NO IDEA!!!

So stood there and got washing done, all seats got wet, dashboard polish spray spots were all over inside the windshield glass. It was 7 pm and got to know there will be no Body polish to Tallboy as the person has left for home.

Next marathon was for getting the bill. I asked to whom shall I contact and ask about the status of Tallboy. NO Handover done.[frustration]

Hurriedly one SA came, I asked him about the work done, he simply reads the things written on Job-card. About details SA was not in position to answer.

I found out that Spark Plugs are not replaced, and answer was they might be in good condition then cleaned and no need to change. I was like DUDE have you lost it?? Its mandatory to replace Spark plugs at 40k KMs. Sir please come the other day I will do Body polish and Spark Plug change. [anger]

When had a look at details in bill, shocked to see quantity of fluids & charges in Bill.

Coolant - 506.66 INR without Taxes
Brake Fluid- 500 ml- 328.88 without Taxes
MGGO(75W90) Shell- 2.5 lits-868.90 without Taxes

Even got charged for electrical check up 150 INR, IMO it shall be a part of AMC.
Bulb changed (21/5 W, 12V) which one??? NO idea to SA, may be brake light bulb, but I know my brake lights were working perfectly fine.

Conveyed my experience and feedback to Manager, answers were not satisfactory for me but still he promised to look into the matter and requested me to come at weekend.

Guys have a look at the bill and please shed some light if all the quantities are OK ?

My feeling is something is FISHY here.

It seems they played their game with you.
1. In the bill above balance weight charged 5 times, are you sure they balanced the spare wheel ?
2. Caliper pin greasing charges 480 [thinking]
3. Outside labour , electricals checkup [shock]
4. Brakes check and clean charges 800

I think some wheel requires weights on both sides of the rim.

Yogs, in my case starting from the 30k service itself my SA started advising me to change the sparkplugs [lol]

IMO, weights part can be overlooked, in benefit of doubt and can be considered as might have actually done.

But the thing I am concerned about is the quantities of the Fluids mentioned and charged.

I've seen 40k Km service bill of someone from the other forum, where fluids quantities and charges were as follows (I've seen the actual invoice copy of the service):

Brake fluid was 250ml whereas in my case it is 500 ml.
Coolant charge was half of the price exactly, whereas I am charged twice.
Gear oil was 2.2 lits whereas in my case it is 2.5 lits.

Grades of the oil are same in both cases.

So these are the things I see as FISHY.

Could anyone please confirm the exact quantities of Fluids as per Maruti recommendations ?

hi guys i have stingray
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...n-r-stingray-ownership-review.html#post386959

i have MID in display as well as a realtime mileage display.
so taking about gearing and shifts i would like to share mine

best mileage shifts:
note :low rpms are not always mileage zones
shift + at 2k rpm sharp
but don't accelerate to 2k rpm.. linearly accelerate, take its own time
press pedal very low just to know you are accelerating not just staying in same rpm.
take to 45kmph with 4th.
when crossing 50 shift to 5th and maintain constant speeds (maintaining constant speeds is the trick here , from 50 to 80kmph my mid shows 30kmpl , if maintained constantly
at 120kmph it shows 19 kmpl
so maintaining constant speeds maintains the trick
note: after attaining the speed take off the gas and again press, this makes fuel air ratio to better mileage based.

performance mode!

rev to 3500rpm, keep in 1st gear, keep clutch as close to engaging point
at start press pedal as same time release clutch
if wheel spins reduce initial rpms to 3.2k
shift at 5k rpm only at first
then other gears at .5 to 6k rpm
shifting gears lies to be a trick, focus on gear leaver position and neutral lengths so shifting makes split second winning or loosing .
i have maxed out 155kmph in a streatch at 5k rpm, still 1000rpm left, will go more
but till 130 to 140 car is steady but too risky with stock tyres and brake pads..
do not try :P

thanks

Engine oil quantity used is 2.9 lits. So no worries. And K10B Wagon R needs 2.9 lits only.

Its Gear oil that is used 2.5 lits.
