Merc is offering discounts/attractive finances schemes on E class. I think the reason being they want to clear inventory before new E class hits Indian market in coming weeks.
Those looking at C class Avantgarde can look at E class though, if OK with outgoing model.

I enquired about this with Fiat cafe Pune and TATA-FIAT pandit Auto Pune , both questioned about reliability of the source of this info. Fiat website also doesn't mentioned anything like it.
So the poster needs to either provide the link or confess.

Discount of Ford’s Cars
The highest selling car in their stable, the New Ford Figo can be had for a discount of upto Rs.25,500 and we believe it would include your insurance and some accessories.
The dud seller Fiesta can be had for a discount of upto Rs. 72,000. Now Ford priced the car at a premium over the other cars but with the discount on offer on it, it makes a pretty good buy due to the driveability it offers.
The old workhorse Classic (old Fiesta) comes with a discount of upto Rs 34,500
The company’s flagship SUV Endeavour being sold at discounts of upto Rs.81,000

Maruti is offering exchange bonus on Ertiga which was not there before and some 5K discount on swift, nothing on dzire.Not sure about which engine of swift this discount is offered, saw an add in todays news paper from one of the maruti's dealer.

In December 2011, A Fiat dealer was selling me a 2010 Linea at fair discount. I wouldn’t be surprised to find the very same car still eating dust in their stockyard.

Is this vehicle T-Jet or normal 1.4 Engine?

It was a Fiat Linea T-Jet.
A thorough bumper-to-bumper inspection is must (PDI). A car standing still for 2 Years is more prone to issues than a car normally used within the same period. The resale value of such cars is also affected to a considerable extent. Unless dealer offers a justified discount and the car passes PDI, I wouldn’t consider it. Same reason my Fiesta was bought for on-road price which was even less than its Ex. showroom cost. It was manufactured almost 1 Year earlier than the date of purchase but the condition was absolutely acceptable.
