Actually the main fuse has gone. he has replaced it. when i asked him about the wiring kit, he told the hid has company wiring and does not require anything extra. So i thought let me give one more try if again fuse goes ill insist him to put a wiring kit.

They have only LED white light with them, is there a particular type of bulb that i should ask them ? like any particular brand or something and how will i make sure those lights are visible in fig and rain while buying ?
You can install white LEDs in them. I'm assuming you have seperate lights for parking and brake. If so find out the bulb bases. Or post a picture of them. I can help you.
They will appear red itself. They are easily visible in rain and fogs. I've been using them in my SX4. Had no problem whatsoever.

Hi Fatekiller,

I see that you have gone in for HID lamps with projector lens. In I10 behind the headlamp assembly there is a plastic cap with no hole that seals the assembly. Other cars in the same segment usually have a rubber cap with a hole already in it.

While installing the HID unit the mechanic might have cut a hole on the cap to bring out the connectors, did you ensure that this hole was completely sealed by the mechanic after the assembly was done? This cap is supposed to prevent rain water/dust getting into the headlight and it is important to seal it well.

I did my HID fitting done by an enthusiast in Mumbai who does this as a hobby and he advised me about this aspect of fitting HID's in I10's [;)]

Hi,

You will find all the necessary BASIC details about HID lamps here, its a nice read and a must in my opinion before you decide to put in HID lamps- HIDRetrofits | A High Performance HID Projector Retrofit Headlights Resource

I used this information to decide on the HID unit I wanted. Projector lens I chose was recommended by the guy who installed the unit in my car. I decided on putting in Osram HID unit (35 W/ 4300 kelvin - this is more than enough!) and fitted those with AES projector lens (Chinese, but reliable). The HID unit (bulbs, ballast and relay) was 9k in price and projector lens was 3k in price.

As long as the cap at the back of headlamp unit is cut and sealed properly and ballast/relay is housed well there are no issues fitting in HID in your I10.

I would strongly recommend projector lens as they help focus the light and avoid light spread as also explained in the link. I had first fitted in HID lamps with stock reflectors. Soon I found myself unhappy with the light spread and then wisely decided to go in for projector lens.

When you approach a mechanic with this information in hand he would know you are an informed guy and he would not make shortcuts [;)] Also, my HID lamps were fitted without opening up the bumper of the vehicle, I had previously seen mechanics open up the bumper of the car to fit in HID's.

Thanks for the detailed info. Installing Projectors is the way to go but It needs to completely tear apart factory headlight housings so I am afraid to go for them. I would rater go for Bi-Xenon H4 type bulb in 4300k. Yes I prefer 4200 or 4300k only. 6k is too blue for me.

Do you have any experience with H4 Bi-xenons in factory housings? Some people say the conversion is perfect and there are some (esp on Candlepowerforums) that say the glare is horrible. I am talking the H4 one which as a little magnetic shield for low/high beam operation.

otherwise I guess I will keep the stock lamps as is, and go for an LED high beam assist light DIY that I did 5 years back. It was on my safari back then!

Bi-Xenons on factory housing would not be a good idea.

If you want to use the halogen reflectors then better option is D2R and D4R (R indicates that it can be used with normal reflectors) HID lamps. They can be housed in regular reflector housing [clap]
