Bi-Xenons on factory housing would not be a good idea.

If you want to use the halogen reflectors then better option is D2R and D4R (R indicates that it can be used with normal reflectors) HID lamps. They can be housed in regular reflector housing [clap]
Philips Xenon Standard 42406C1 - Xenon

no man. d2r has different bases and can't be fixed in h4 housings. you need the same base.

I have seen H4 to D2R conversion adapters in market with adjustment for light throw etc. [:)]

But fitting in such a unit would need an expert to work on the vehicle, in my view that is a must anyways! Are you located in Mumbai? I can patch you up with an expert I know who fitted HIDs in my I10 in 2012, I sold the car a few months ago. It survived two monsoons without any issues [;)]

I don't know how d2r can work in h4 housings.
d2r is Single beam bulb and cutoffs are managed by the optics. that's not possible in h4 headlights.

for h4 bi xenon setup you have a sort of shield actuated by magnet or motor that controls light output for low and high beam.

in halogen h4 there are 2 different filaments for the same effects. one with shield and one without.

I'll contact you when I'm around Bombay.

Ya you are correct bi xenons use a solenoid to move the shield and halogens have two filaments for low and high beam each. D2R are single beam units as you correctly mentioned - no doubts about that [:)]

What I meant by adjustment of light throw is, the adapter comes with a shield that controls the upward glare and helps focus light in the right areas when you fit the lights with stock halogen reflectors, since you were worried about the glare due to stock reflectors.

Here is one example...

GEN3 H4 9003 to D2S D2R HID Adaptors for Philips Bulbs | eBay

I talked to the expert, and he has D2R HIDs on his I20 but those can be fit in only with projector lens if you need high/low beam adjustment. The authentic conversion kits I am talking about is not readily available in Indian market, his opinion was to go with regular HIDs with projectors.

that about clears it up!
thanks
my upgrades are on pause because my led setup seems enough for the time being. it consumes only 8w and puts about a headlight worth of light.
