Bangalore,
Guys kindly enlighten here , I have been told by many that us versions of phones AT&T and all don't work here in India means if its a 3G phone we won't get 3G speeds is that true ?
I doubt that since Unlock or jailbreak means you need to make your phone available for other carriers so you need to unlock it with some code, this will be provided by operator, you can also get it done from outside but warranty will go.

3G modem is an hardware stuff if your phone unlocked properly then this should not happen. But I never done this so not much Idea but my friend did it for Iphone 4s but phone works better in all mode of connection.

yup you are right. rumored international price is 550$ well around 25k rupees.

those are carrier locked. One could get an unlock code. Some are available for free.
Some need to paid up for the unlock code to be delivered.
On the hardware front the Gsm phones should work fine.
And only 3G just check if that phone works on 2100 Mhz band.
Also do check if the phone is gsm or a cdma phone.
There are verizon phones available too from Htc which are a lot cheaper but those cdma phones will work only on reliance Cdma networks. That too only when reliance accepts its Code in their network.
Ex: an HTC One x for cdma is available for 50$ on radioshack .

Yes but 50$ is on contract of 2 years with some carrier .

Why iam asking is because AT&T , tmobile uses different bands , And not like the European or Asian ones which are same as ours . If not mistaken AT&T uses 1800 MHz band .
When I went to Microsoft store to buy samsung focus they directed me to AT&T store they were ready to unlock it for free but said I won't get 3G speeds in India .
On contract the phone was 25$ for 2 years contract but off contract it was 480us$ .

Similarly htc 8x is free on amazon but again its 2 year contract .

You need to check what band the handset that you want to import from USA is, if its on gsm network, factory unlock would would perfectly over here on any gsm network with its full 3G services,no issues on that, if its cdma network or even gsm without sim, programable handset which needs to be unlocked first, then programmed then its a tricky situations, but mostly all handsets gsm counters with sim slot works perfectly fine imported from USA.

Guys purchased Canvas 2 yesterday. First impression is good for the price. Seems little bit slow and battery drains quickly but no issues i will fix them up after rooting the phone and adding some custom ROM's.

Overall rating is 8/10

I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE , And I am highly disappointed though samsung were leaders in smartphone technology at that time.

Within first week , mother board needed replacement for not being able to charge the battery.Since then battery drains quikly (10 mins)especially if 3 G is on which is usually on in my case.
Last week I changed the battery and upgraded the software but in vain .Today night I will check it with 3G /2G off .
At ASS , I saw que of ACE series owners and note series owners with similar problems , hence decided to sell it of
and not to go behind the brand name blindly.

My friend suggested me micromax canvas 2 A 110 , and said that its is compararable to Galaxy S 3 , except the lcd screen and battery life.
Guys please suggest me , and what is the battery life if most of the time 3 G is on.
What are its benefits over ACE and S2 other than price?

My brother's phone runs for one day easily without mobile data, and wifi half of time. He messages all the time, uses FB app all the time and plays some games too. Decent battery.

if you want S2 and dont want to get into A.S.S i would suggest a pantech burst.
(sorry for repeating it over and over again)

but the hardware packs enough punch to ignore it even without warranty.

ibhejo provides replacement warranty of 3 months, so if initial hardware issues are there. it should be taken care of.

regarding battery all androids are a downer, and s2,burst and micromax is no different.

it works well if gps is kept off and data is not kept always on.2 days plus without charge.(note it stays on during games , videos and tp. nocalling etc since the phone is meant for my sister and i do not deprive her of its newness.
[:)]
havent tried 3G on it yet, so wont comment on that.
