Micromax A110 Canvas 2 to get Jelly Bean update next week

“Yes, the Canvas 2 is getting a Jelly Bean update and it will hit the market by late next week,” Andre Augustine, part of the company’s media & corporate communication team for India & SAARC Region,
users will not be getting the update in the traditional over-the-air method. Augustine added, “This will not be an OTA update. Users will have to go to Micromax-authorised service centres to get the update. Currently, we are conducting tests (on the Jelly Bean ROM) and will be releasing the update by early next week latest.”[anger]

Another reason why not to choose micromax. There's only one service center which can handle androids in Delhi. That too, is smaller than most of the rooms! Hardly 5 people can stand there but people from all Delhi come there. Stupid MMX.

whats the point of using an android if you are using it plain stock?
Xda had posted the jellybean update long back.
The cynus rom is actually the stock rom and there are already many jelly bean roms out on xda for canvas 2.

That's not my point. Obviously, stock android is of no use, customizing is the key to android fun. I wanted to say "Users will have to go to Micromax-authorised service centres to get the update" why should one go to their service center to even try stock android? I would rather download stock android at home, try it and replace with custom rom. [:)]

for starters, they are a small company.

so setting up servers for OTA update would be costly for them.

also if they had provided a file link to download their official rom, then that jelly bean would have been modded in no time and there would be a long queue for failed rom updates.

hence they are offering for updates only in service centres.

people who have bought it for its advantages( xda support) do not crib for those updates as they have got it long back.

another reason why it still topping the charts.

there are similar phones form other manufacturers with almost same configuration.
namely Iball andi 4.5 h, intex and karbonn too, still those do not sell anything combined to what micro max sells.
reason : loads of custom roms available.

No, actually many people I know who bought this phone don't even know about custom roms lol. They got it solely for the looks and specs.

Got my hands on this model yesterday, my friend had purchased it a week back fiddled with this phone for more than half an hour, came out very impressed, loved the screen quality and it does feel very sturdy and well built too. for an average user this model does more than expected at a much lower price than it's established competitors.

Overall well done Micromax[clap]
