You travelled 40k in Apollo Accelere?
My polo is having MRF ZVTV & it has been almost worn out till the wear indicator mark on tyre! Done only 27230+kms. [sad]
Himalayan's verna's mrf lasted only 15k kms :0 i'm using the same tyres in my verna. Have completed around 10k.

I have accellere in both my santro and i10. Will surely update how much they lasted.

Good to know that your stock Apollo Accelere's touched 40k kms. I hope even mine touch that mark before I have to upgrade.

I would suggest you to go for Yokohama C drive. One of my friend is using that on his Polo and the road noise is considerably lower than compared to the Apollo's. Even the handling seemed to be just a tad better if not a significant change.

Do you think Yoko would be as strong as Bridgestone in handling the potholed roads? Would there be issue of wearing out sooner with Yoko? I have heard that Yoko's have got softer compound. Is it so?

Bridgestones are the best when it comes to bad roads. But there are members who are using Michelin and Yokohama on bad roads. But every now and then you hear incidents of sidewall bulges from Michelin and Yokohama owners.Michelin has improved this on the new XM2 but they are not available for your car.All these tires comes with warranties, so get your warranty card stamped and check the tenure details.

Make sure you check the manufacturing dates on the tires.Try to get the freshest batch of tires not more than 2 months old.Check the dates on all the tires and also inspect the tires thoroughly, because lets face it your life actually depends on it.

Fill the tires with nitrogen.Get the alignment and balancing done.Take it easy on the tires for atleast 1000kms so that they break in properly.

PS:As Tornado mentioned earlier, have you checked the rim width of your alloys?

I will keep the tips in mind.
I tried to have a look at alloys but couldn't find anything written there. How is the rim width important here if I am choosing the same spec tyres as stock?

The ER60 is available in 195/60R15.

The other available ones in Bridgestones are the Potenza GIII and Potenza RE88 in the 195/60R15 size.

These should fit your rims. But to be on the safer side, do a test fit on 1 rim.

If your car is under warranty, do not upsize the tires.

Thanks. I may as well go for 195/60 tyres if 185 is not available.
Thanks for all the info regarding tyres.

I have updated my previous post.

If your car is under warranty going for the 195/60R15 can void the warranty. Please check with VW before going with the 195/60R15 tires.

Jihu, please share, manufacturing date car (as on RC), manufacturing date of tyres as itched on sidewall of the tires, date of purchase of the car.
My experience with MRF has not lasted more than 30 to 35 kkm in the past.
Oh, thanks for the info. I'll check the date of tyres & post it here.
Never knew that the date of tyres had a role to play on its life. [surprise]

Rightnow I don't have very good knowledge on all this tire expertise regarding soft compound or hard. Its just I've driven my friend's Polo fitted with Yoko's fair bit of amount. Felt it had better grip than my Apollo Accelere's. Wearing out, I can't really tell as his car has just done about 8k kms on those tires.

I have got the new tyres today. Bridgestone touranza ER 300, 185/60/R15. Total net cost came to Rs. 20500!!
Old apollo tyres went away without fetching me a dime. Supposedly all four apollo were bubbled (uneven surface).

Then new tyres as good as far as comfort levels are concerned. Fot handling and performance, I have to spend some more time with them I think.

Thanks to jar, tornado and others for making it simple.
