2500 is decent for new brake pads. Maybe VW has reached optimum levels of localisation.
On one hand, parts will be cheap. But on the other hand, reliability will be questionable.
The advisor says that brake pads are of two types made for two manufacturing batches of polo. For my batch, the brake pads are for Rs. 2300, and for the other batch they are for Rs. 3200. I asked him if 2300 ones are in anyway inferior to the other, on which he said both are as per the model that's it.
I have got the old brake pads, I will try to upload pics to show you their condition.
you updated almost after 3 months. good to see that you have already covered 26k. but i think they should last atleast 40k.
I don't know, but I think Noida roads have played their part well here. They suck. Period.
Surprising is the fact that I have not noticed any lack of bite or braking precision in spite of worn out pads. Is it how its supposed to be or braking gets affected due to wearing out of pads?
Wow Rightnow. 26k is quite a lot of running in a duration of 16 months. How much FE are you getting which still makes you glued to a petrol car? Any thoughts on going for a diesel maybe in the future?
Rs.2300 for brake pads seem to be decent and on par cost wise with other manufacturers i guess.
P.S. - Haven't seen any pics of your red beauty lately. Please upload few.
FE- I get everything between 12 to 20 on the MID. In cities generally it hovers around 12-14 kmpl which goes up and up on highways and easily reaches 18 kmpl. This is what happens in my daily run of 120 kms to offices.
I have started car pooling with friends, so the bills are actually now less than before so I have bothered less on petrol or diesel. I will do some calculation soon and see if I have lost or gained with this petrol car!!
I haven't clicked any recent pics pics of polo , I hope you won't mind an old one:
