About the dent, you should get the repair done through claim soon otherwise it won't be covered under insurance.
Enjoy...
Yeah, I plan to do so when the car touches the 6 month mark. I have zero dep insurance, so shouldn't burn a hole in my pockets. Just wondering why would it be not covered under insurance, if I delay it for now?

If there is delay in claiming the insurance after accident, the agents may give some trouble in clearing it. Ideally, an accident should be reported at soon as possible so that there on no confusion on how did the accident take place. When the surveyor comes and surveys you car in workshop, the accident (dents) should look new. If the dents appear to be old then the surveyor may say that there is something fishy behind it, he may think you are just bluffing about the accident, or may be you just want to cover more than one instance of accidents in one claim.

Yes Rightnow is correct and surveyor can guess the age of dents especially if it is on the metal body which accumulates rust with passage of time. You should report the incident to Insurance company within stipulated period of time which i think surely mentioned in the T&C.

Brief update:

Polo going strong- 26500 km on ODO in just 16 months with a petrol car!

A few squeaks from glove box and front driver side door.
Showed to workshop yesterday- door side squeak gone completely, but glove box still makes kat-kat sound.

Changed brake pads, which according to the advisor had almost worn out and needed to be changed soon. I decided to replace them.
Cost of fitting brake pads- Rs. 2300. (Reasonable?)

Rest the car is as exciting as it was before.

2500 is decent for new brake pads. Maybe VW has reached optimum levels of localisation.

On one hand, parts will be cheap. But on the other hand, reliability will be questionable.

Wow Rightnow. 26k is quite a lot of running in a duration of 16 months. How much FE are you getting which still makes you glued to a petrol car? Any thoughts on going for a diesel maybe in the future?

Rs.2300 for brake pads seem to be decent and on par cost wise with other manufacturers i guess.

P.S. - Haven't seen any pics of your red beauty lately. Please upload few.

The advisor says that brake pads are of two types made for two manufacturing batches of polo. For my batch, the brake pads are for Rs. 2300, and for the other batch they are for Rs. 3200. I asked him if 2300 ones are in anyway inferior to the other, on which he said both are as per the model that's it.

I have got the old brake pads, I will try to upload pics to show you their condition.

you updated almost after 3 months. good to see that you have already covered 26k. but i think they should last atleast 40k.
I don't know, but I think Noida roads have played their part well here. They suck. Period.
Surprising is the fact that I have not noticed any lack of bite or braking precision in spite of worn out pads. Is it how its supposed to be or braking gets affected due to wearing out of pads?

FE- I get everything between 12 to 20 on the MID. In cities generally it hovers around 12-14 kmpl which goes up and up on highways and easily reaches 18 kmpl. This is what happens in my daily run of 120 kms to offices.

I have started car pooling with friends, so the bills are actually now less than before so I have bothered less on petrol or diesel. I will do some calculation soon and see if I have lost or gained with this petrol car!!

I haven't clicked any recent pics pics of polo , I hope you won't mind an old one:

if pads are worn out you will get hzz sound everytime you brake. I don't think there's much affect on braking but yeah the discs can get damaged if pads are not changed in time.
Anyways make sure to change discs when you get the noise.

Sc guys will just persuade to change. Earn money.

2 incidents -
1. Santro. Local mechanic said pads needs to be changed. Bought the pads, was shocked to compare the old ones with the new ones. They needed to be changed.

2. My RE thunderbird. Mechanic says pads needs to be changed. Compared the new ones he brought with the original pads. There was no need. He just wanted to make money.

Wow you crossed the 26K mark, wish you got a diesel car for yourself considering the current running. Good to see your baby after so long, she still looks young. I experienced worn out pads in my wagon-r less effective compared to the new one.

Congrats on completing 26k. Even my brake pads has started to get worn out. Completed 20600km till date. The VW service official said that it will last for about 2-3k kms more! So would change it probably after that period.

Never got this hzz sound. Time to take a few snaps of old and new brake pads to see if the change was needed.

I am yet to see any difference in behavior of the new brake pads. Good for me no.

Better change them soon to avoid any further damage.

Jihu and Rightnow,

Please describe the way you guys drive. 25k is too early for brake pads to be replaced.Do you seelot of brake dust on wheels ?

My friend changed his innova brake pad by 40kkm. Indica vista 35kkm.

As a general thumb rule normal one should survive and replaced with tires, both have similar life if driven normally.

City driving can wear out brake pads prematurely. Especially when one does not get enough time to downshift every time.

Btw cool pic of the red beauty. Looks like fresh from factory!

Certainly a lots of braking on bad roads and congested places has got the brake pads wear out in my case. Yeah, I have seen lots of brake dust right from initial days.
My tyres are just fine, I am guessing they would run 10k more.
Should I infer that brake pads have been of bad quality?

I understand what you mean. The roads of Noida are to be blamed here which have brought too much of damage to my car. Rattling and brake pads damage for instance.

Hey that's an old pic man! The new pics will come soon.
