Ciaz will be a premium car from MSIL because it is an international car which is not only launched in India. Just like City, Vento, Linea. And people should never judge it as cheap maintaining car like other MSIL's.

SX4 was initial a hatchback which then modified to a sedan. It was never thought to be premium car and Ciaz is not direct replacement of it. They both are totally different.

If Suzuki splits from Maruti then Suzuki becomes a real premium brand and Maruti will be like TATA. (Just like how HONDA and HERO became.) Until then it just depends upon how people think of it, premium or not. [:)]

Since festive season is around the corner, Maruti Suzuki needs to be ready with enough stock to supply in case of huge demand.

BTW, saw an Ecosport ad saying "Book your Ecosport now and get assured delivery on dhan-teras", interesting one it was.

Any news on Ciaz automatic? Mumbai dealer telling that it is not available for top ZXi+ but ZXi. Why automatic can't be given for top end? Anyone who drives an automatic Maruti can provide some feedback. Would it be possible to upgrade to ZXi+ features (larger R16 alloys, art. leather seats, 5" AVN) in ZXi automatic?

Honda City too does not offer automatic in V trim which seems to be the most popular.

BTW, a recent ad picture shows actor inside the car, the car looks big inside. A big + for Ciaz.

Ciaz prepones its launch to the first week of October. Bookings seem to tilt to the diesel variant.

The Petrol Automatic Ciaz too is finding quite a few takers, the reason being the Automatic’s ARAI certified mileage figure of 19.12kmpl according to dealers we spoke to. This makes the Ciaz the most efficient automatic in its segment
Demand for the Maruti Ciaz is picking momentum despite the car not being available for display at showrooms. Maruti has received over 6,000 bookings for their new C-segment entrant
Maruti Ciaz bookings cross the 6,000 mark, launch in 1st week of October| ZigWheels.com

You mean if Suzuki sells Maruti? I dont think that will happen. Hero and Honda had technical collaboration, and they decided to go separate ways. Maruti is now a subsidiary of Suzuki and I don't think Suzuki will sell it as long as Maruti is doing well in India.

You were right about SX4. I never liked its looks, it wasn't proportionate and when it got the diesel engine it was too late. I personally feel Ciaz can pull it off, the entire package seems positive right from day 1, the only deciding factor will be pricing.

Please don't get me wrong, I am not comparing Fiat punto with Maruti Ciaz. Here are the kerb weights of the new punto evo 1.3 mjd. Fiat Punto Evo features and specifications

In which, the kerb weight of 90bhp version weighs 1,198 kilos, when compared to Ciaz it is 1,105 kilos which is almost lighter by 93 kilos. As I have already owned a punto, the 90 bhp version is not at all a bad car to drive with respect to its performance. So assuming that, fiat engine is better tuned in the Maruti and the lighter weight of the Ciaz would make it enjoyable to drive. This is just my assumption.

Yes you are right. In Europe they caliculate like this. But in the real world, we all know that ARAI figures are not accurate . In UK, people filed a complaint on manufacturers saying that cars doesn't give claimed mileage figures. Then ARAI people explained that these tests are conducted in a closed room with minimum friction environment and report the mileage figures to the manufacturer. So ARAI figures are utter useless and they are only used by the manufacturers to market their cars. My swift used to give 17-18 kmpl in city when its new, now its at 90k kms and it doesnt give more than 15kmpl. So in real world, be it Honda, Ciaz or Fiesta. They give more or less the same according to our driving conditions. But the most important factor is, how about the performance of the engine? In my swift, I rarely cross 2,500 rpm to maneuver around town or out on the highway. Will the Ciaz be able to give me the same performance under 2,500 rpm ? Please dont tell me that its a rev friendly engine so you can rev it upto 3,500 or 4,000 rpm to get your desired performance out of the engine. I dont want to rev the engine, I prefer an engine that gets the power in the low revs and 1.3 mjd has this ability but how it performs in the bigger ciaz is the question? . So I dont want to make any conclusions regarding the car until I test drive it. One thing which is clearly understood is that maruti is spending a lot of money for the marketing.
Second thing is, those interiors look beautiful in pictures. But I want to see how they feel in real. Because pictures can be deceiving.
Hi All,

Just to clarify about ARAI tests on fuel mileage calculations, as per my information it a routine test in which vehicle is supposed to be driven in a closed chamber on rollers, a combined city and outside city predifeined route is defined, vehicle has to adhere to the pre defined running cycle and it cannot be varied or speeds cannot be out of the pre deifned limits and than the readings of mileage taken and this they do for 3 to 5 times to get the average. If you go outside the limits that one is not considered and you have to restart the test again.

So its a bit technical and a bit more scientific method to uniformly measure the fuel mileage of the vehicle.

In a nutshell 26.21 KMPL is better than 26KMPL on any day.
Drivevability is a different thing altogether.

In my fluidic Verna 2014 crdi 1.6, ARAI mileage is 22.7 KMPL but on NH8 without AC in winters i used to get 25.7 KMPL. In city on regular MG road traffic it was around 16 KMPL with AC.
