Hi Folks,

I have a Swift ZXI(2 years old), in my last trip while driving in Madikeri ghat roads I used to hear a grinding/brushing noise (very feeble) while taking sharp turns from left bottom of car(near front passenger side), however the same sound does'nt reappear when driven on straight roads as well as roads which have a slight bends. What could be the reason?

Also, to recheck the issue when I parked the car I swerved the steering to extreme left and right I could hear a motor noise. Is this normal for all cars ?

Can gurus throw some light into this issue?

Exact location of sound? near steering wheel, when you check the car in parking is the car idling? if so then it can be EPS servo motor, usually it makes some noise but not too much. If sound near the wheels can be driveshaft.

No the sound is not coming from steering wheel but from the front passenger side near the left wheel. Yes while idling its barely audible.

Hi all..
I have a swift dzire petrol(old). Now i am facing some issues with ride quality. It has become very harsh and steering also makes some 'cut' sound whenever vehicle moves over the rough surface.
SA advised me to do suspension work and greasing of the steering rack. Also , i have fat tyre than usual because its zxi and has alloy wheels.
My question is, what exactly should be replaced/repaired in order to get rid of the noise. Also, is it advisable to get these jobs done from MASS?. Or it can be done outside as well. I also have AMC for my vehicle so will get some discount in labour and spare parts.
Experts kindly suggest me what is the best way.
Thanks.

@Soyab,
its rather difficult for us to identify the issue ourselves. You need a good Mechanic. I see you are from Mumbai but I dont know where, so I have PMed a known mechanic's number
You can get the work done from the ASC but it will be more expensive with overheads. Do it if your car is still in the warranty period and you wish to make the ASC accountable for the repairs (i.e. if they offer a warranty for the parts they replace and such). MS retails its parts, so you can always have the same work done from a good mechanic with original parts if you do not want to get it done from outside

All About Maruti Suzuki Swift!

Hi Everyone!
I am a proud new owner of Maruti Suzuki Swift(P) and always been fan of it when I was a kid and dreamt of having one and now I got it... I have so many things revolving in mind and excitement of my ride. I wish all swift owners help me to keep my ride well maintained and also hope if they help me in solving my queries..

So the things which I am remembering now are :-

1.) It's been a month with my car and I want to know what are the driving techniques or tips to get the best mileage. Currently i'm getting 16.4kmpl (odo) in city, never drove it on highway. Help me to get the best out of it! :)

2.) Secondly, I was always been a fan of white headlights and want to know how can I get one and which is the best suitable. Stock bulbs are Osram H4 as I could see on the bulb.

Many more queries ahead...

Thankyou!

1.For best mileage ,shift at 2k rpm ,and don't put pressure on throttle pedal, give it a light foot.

2.H4 is the holder size ,nothing to do with headlamp output.
Headlamp experts should comment on the power output which is best .But on my research ,for white light ,the bulb will have temperature rating above 4500K

My swift is almost 5yrs old and have clocked ~57k kms. Planning to change the tyres.. I am thinking about retaining the stock tyre size which is 165/80 R14.. Michelin/Bridgestone/Continental - Looking for recommendations based on personal experiences.
Does upsizing really affects the performance/fuel economy?? If not which size i can choose?

Hi Swift owners, i own a Ritz 2011 and clocked 25+ Kms with stock JK tyres and planning to change the tyres as well as the alloy wheel of swift 15 inch one.

My doubt is swift Z variants are placed with 15 inchs and other L, V variants are placed with 14 inch rims so my doubt here is inside the spare wheel space is designed different for both variants are all the variant spare wheel base is same!!!

Else i can go for the ritz 14 inch alloys for safer side??
Thanks in advance for your guidance...

@kannan,

all these cars (L, V, Z) have the same wheel OD. The ID is different. So, the L and V models have the 14" 165/80 tyres and the z trim has the 185/65 r15 rim. So the difference is the size of the rim (hole in the tyre) and the tyre width.

Now, from personal experience, dont upgrade to the 15" rim. The reason fo this is the 15" tyres have a lower aspect ration and the already stiff ride becomes even stiffer. If better grip is the target, look for wider 14" tyres.
Secondly, the rim itself- if you are looking to upgrade to alloys, there is not really much advantage in this rim size if you select the same width as stock (5" rim width or 5J rim because the alloy is not significantly lighter than the steel rim). If you go for a wider rim (say 5.5") with the same tyre width (165), the ride will become stiffer because the side wall bulge reduces. This is from personal experience. So select your rim carefully.

My personal suggestion to you would be
1) If going for a rim change or aesthetic reasons, get 14x5.5J rims with wider tyres, say 175 or 185 depending on availability. This is the best compromise of ride and handling
2) If keeping the same steel rim, stick with 175 tyres

With regards to the spare, that can be 14" only if you intend to use it as a spare only. If you intend to do 5 wheel rotation on regular basis, they you have no option but to stick with 165 wide tyres as the wider tyre wont fit into the spare socket in the boot. I believe the z trims come with non alloy 14" steel rims only

Hope this helped. PM me in case of any doubt

Ameyam

I had my service 2 weeks back ,(20k km service /2year service ,first paid service )
The bill came as 4900 rs.
I found no issues with the amount as bill particulars were correct-
1.Engine Oil
2.Oil filter
3.Coolant
4.Brake fluid
5.Calliper pin Greasing
6.Drive axle bush (Boot bush )-replacement - It was found to be damaged ,my Friend SA had told ,it might have hit stone or something,if not changed ,with due time,it will lose grease and can damage
7.Wash fluid top up
8.Workshop consummables
9.Labour-1900/-
