Well, then TAI core team, kindly aid.

I have written en email with the whole story to Sai Service with copy to contact@maruti.co.in as well as called the Maruti India toll free number and registered a complaint( number 7973602165). Thats about all I can do.

Right now, the brake mechanism is serviced, so there shouldnt be any appreciable noise for a few days but if they havent replaced anything, its bound to come back within 10 days. I dont really want to change my car as the Swift meets all my needs, is convenient and is now very nicely setup for my driving style. Help will be appreciated

Also post on facebook and twitter. Give your contact details they will call you asap.

Anyways now i am sure they are covering up some major defect and they don't want to replace it under warranty. Make sure you save all the bills and ask them to mention the problems in your car report and in the bill as well.

Ask them to give you a feedback form , note down its serial number. It's always attached to the bill aftwrwards. Do all this and i hope the problem gets solved.

Not sure of a design issue. Most likely I have one part thats slightly out of its manufacturing tolerances. I know that if they replace the calliper, pin and disc on the left side, they will have to do so on the right side as well. Total cost should be under 10k. I can get it done from outside using genuine Maruti parts as well but I would rather they do it as I have already paid them for this kind of problem
The dont offer any feedback form
I am active of FB, not on Twitter. However, I would rather use that route as a last resort

Guys,

within a couple of days of giving the ASC a piece of my mind and registering a complaint with Maruti on their helpline, I received a call from the ASC saying to bring my car in for disc replacement. I agreed but pointed out that since they had serviced the brakes, there was no appreciable noise for that moment and that I would bring in the car as soon as the noise became audible. This, I explained them, would help them because they would be able to find out exactly which part was causing the issue. Within 2 days of the call, the noise started again and I informed them that I would be bringing the car in. I also recorder and sent them the sound again on Wednesday. You can here the sound here at 14secs from the start where its is heard on a flat level surface in breaking and then again at around 35 seconds as the car drives down a ramp with brakes
In the meantime, while getting my wheels balanced, we noticed that the brake disk in the left side (from where the sound is coming) has a particular tooling mark as if the cutting tool started and stopped there. Its a line running outward from the hub. Not sure if that is the reason.
Going to the ASC tomorrow. Lets see how it pans out

Recently had a worst experience in Indian road scenario,i was coming back from nagarcovil to trivandrum, i was following a verna ,suddenly verna took a hard right cornering to evade pothole ,its left wheel hit the hole, i tried to dodge by keeping to left though my right wheels hit the pothole badly, speed around 50kmph.

Will it have damaged the suspension and related components?

Vishnu,

really depends on the size of the pothole. Though I dont think that hitting a pothole once will damage the suspension. I went over large rumblers (which I didnt know were added over the weekend, subsequently we used to take those at 20) on my regular office route which takes the international airport road doing nearly 100 with no damage to the suspension. Do you feel any rough riding or suspension noise since?

Swift tyre query

Just wondering, is there a difference in the Suspension of the Vxi swift that uses 14" wheels and the zxi swift that uses 15" rims?
If the suspension is same, particularly for the swift, if i upgrade from 14" rims to 15" rims going from 165/80R14 to 185/70R15 tyres , what is the effect on the ride quality and handling?

Re: Swift tyre query

Hope you are talking about the latest SWIFT. Then yes you can go for the MOD. Suspension tuning and suspension quality is same for ZXi/ZDi or VXi/VDi.

Ride and handling will be much more precise and ease.

Re: Swift tyre query

Mine is 2014 Swift, the one before the facelift.

I just want better ride quality. My car already has 14" 5.5J ET25 (or something) Neo alloys with the original 165/80 R14 tyres. There is always a complaint, especially from the rear, that ride is much harsher than my previous Wagon R. I find that the case too. We use it mostly with one or 2 persons, mostly in the front, but when my mom sits in the back or when I sit there, we feel the car is very stiff. We experimented with 1-2psi lower pressures and it made the car softer but still not as comfortable. So I was wondering whether to go for 15" rims or stay with 14" and go for the 185 wide tyres. The Neo dealers is suggesting to go for the 185/70R14

My 165/80R14s Bridgestone S series have done only 12000km.

Also, wouldn't going for wider tyres make the ride harsher?

Swift tyre query

Hi Ameyam.

Actually the harshness or stiffness of a ride is decided by the sidewall height of the tyre, and not necessarily the width. It is a general perception that increased width leads to decreased ride quality because generally people settle for lower or thinner sidewalls which reduces the comfort factor as the tyres have to be more stiff to accomodate the bigger wheels (as a result of wide tyres or bigger rims).

If looking for safety or performance point of view you can go ahead with 185 section on 14" rims. The ride quality will be marginally poorer (wouldn't be even noticeable) but will largely depend on the tyre brand you opt for. For comfort, Michelin is a good bet.

Do not think that 15" rims will provide you the comfort of 14" rims, keeping in mind the stock tyre sizes of Swift. 185/70R15 has a thinner and stiffer sidewall which makes the ride slightly more harsher.

Changing your tyres at 12000 kms doesn't make sense at all, you'll probably get the worst hit of wear and tear depreciation. Use them till they wear out I would say. Try experimenting with different tyre pressure at the rear and stick to 165/80R14 as I doubt you'd get a similar sidewall with similar comforts) in any other size (except downsizing).

My friend had asked me whether 15 inch negative offset alloys will do any harm to ride?
Can anyone comment on the same.
Negative offset wheels push your alloys out from the car body. Negatives of these wheels are that the tyre is bound to hit the fender (if you aren't going for upgraded suspension) which will damage the tyre as well as fender, turning the car becomes difficult (and city drivability is affected), wheel bearings and suspension setup get additional stress, handling becomes good (stable in straight line) but cornering capability goes for a toss. How much is the stock offset? And how much negative offset are you going for? The effects I have mentioned are for extreme cases of going negative, normally SUV owners go for negative offset wheels and are happy with them.

PS. Replace all "you"s with "your friend"s. [:)]
