Guys, what is the proper tire pressure to keep in the tyres?

Also, I cant always check tire pressure when cold because I don't have a dedicated parking, so park on the road only. If I take the car out during the day, I will lose my parking spot and the pump is usually closed after 9pm (they switch off the compressor).
Tire pressure adjustment is always a balancing between ride comfort and FE, reduce the tyre pressure 2psi on rear (front also if you wish to) than the recommended, you will get a better cushioning feel. There may be a slightly less FE in this case. After few trial and errors you will find what best suits you [:)]!.

As you have accessibility issues you may consider buying a foot pump inflator with a pressure gauge inbuilt. Other option is the 12VDC compressor.

Hi,

Within the monsoon approaching, i have a couple of queries-

I will need to replace the washers- the 8 month old ones seem to be leaving lines. Is there also a surface treatment i can do to improve water repulsion. i saw some video where the water just falls off the glass after treatment

Also, my car doesnt have rear wiper / defogger. I remember my old Wagon R didnt need it. Long time swift owners, please advice- is it really necessary and is there some way to retrofit it? Or will rear wind screen treatment achieve the same?

Should i get the side front panes treated also? Is this a DIY task?

I have heard certain shops give a rain coat in windshield, that acts as a membrane which prevents water from sticking onto surface rather it gets dripped down away, hence visibility is managed to 45%.
But i think Wipers does the job well.

Rear wipers are not necessary in swift( I have spoilers also, hence i don't feel the need though i have them.)
While taking reverse cam does the job,as it works well during heavy rains also.

@Ameyam,

My advice is to get a new set of wipers or atleast the driver side wiper and a couple of mga Windshield washer fluid sachet. This is the easiest thing that one can do for the happy monsoon days.[:)]

No, from my experience of having water repellent treatment for the rear windshield doesn't helps in visibility since the light weighted tiny drops and dirt wont fall apart, which will requires a rear wiper to move it off. The only thing is that, cleaning the rain repellent treated rear windshield is very easy to clean.[lol]

Grinding sound from front left on Swift VDi version2

Hi Friends,

I am having a peculiar issue with my car, I was driving on NH4 2 months back and suddenly I heard a grinding sound from front left and I stopped the car to see for any issues. I did not see any issues and when I called the MASS manager where I service my car, he said there may be possibility of a rock in the disc and disc pad.

Later I drove the car to Bangalore and did not face the issue anytime for 1000 odd kms.

When I was again passing through the same stretch on NH4, I again heard the similar sound from front left. I stopped the car to check the rock in the disc brake and reversed the car to free the stuck rock if any.

While I was doing this exercise a by-passer (on bike) stopped and told me that many cars passing through this stretch are facing this issue and the culprit is the road not the car. And again I started from there and reached Bangalore but I did not hear the same in any speed after that.

This stretch is before Ranebennur on NH4 when you heading towards Bangalore and its newly tarred.

Can anybody shed some light or give some pointers? Is it again a rock which got stuck in the disc and disc pad? I am planning to take this to MASS this weekend.

I have the MGA sachets. When I had sols my Wagon R, I had retained those.
I had applied dashboard polish on Saturday and there was some overspray that had hit and dried up on the windscreen. So, when is rained a bit on Sunday evening, I was getting a lot of blurring. It went away after I thoroughly wiped the screen down with a wet towel but I had not had any polish hit the side windows and I has still having difficulty seeing the rear view mirrors. Plus the wipers were leaving wet lines on the windscreen as against clearing it completely

Do you use Colin glass cleaner? Its really helpful for getting off all kind of dirt from the glass.

I had not had any polish hit the side windows and I has still having difficulty seeing the rear view mirrors.
Problem with the visibility is only when its raining or all the time? Just wanted to know is it about fogging up the glass while its raining outside.
Or else you can use a good glass cleaner to clean those oily dirty off from the glass.

Re: Grinding sound from front left on Swift VDi version2

I think the bypasser was right. I too faced this peculiar problem when i was going to a trip. And you won't believe how much we laughed watching all those cars stopping at the same spot we did and telling them it's the road.

The heavy machines "earth movers" have those conveyer belts to move around(check image) So because of weight and the tread pattern one can feel there's a grinding noise or maybe tyre got punctured.

If you are still not convinced. Take it to a mechanic and ask him to slightly polish the disc surface with a sand paper.

Thanks allhyundaicars!

Very interesting, I had never experienced this in my 14 yrs driving [drive]. Next time, I would stop and educate (laugh) the frightened drivers.

You mean the front left wobbled which made the sound?

Will definitely get it checked this weekend.

Glass was dirty & i did finally use collin to clean it.
On that particular day, i was having visibility issues after it had rained and when water drpps were still on the glass. Once cleaned from inside & outside, there were no problems. But it didnt rain afterwards. Also, just the botton of the windshield just above the dash was fogging from outside. I was able to resolve that by reducing the aircon inside

The wipers are still leaving water residue. Basically like when you wipe a table with a moist cloth. I have asked for new wipers
