Ertiga VDi (Serene Blue) which was booked 2 months ago was delivered to me last Friday[:)] I have a query here for which even the sales person's answer wasn't convincing.
What is the function of the alarm button/switch present next to the fog lamp switch? I could depress it like fog lamp switch/button but the sales personnel said we have nothing to do with it (I can tell he was also unaware of this, from his answer[frustration]). But, what is it intended for?

Thanks,
vishu
Ertiga has a means to enable body vibration snsor. when enabld it will start to alarm whem some one touches the car when locked. I have a Zxi and i used that button for a while before disabling the body sensor to disable the alarm. Issue i have with it is that its very sensitive and even a dog bark or plane flying above home can trigger the alarm. Also there are different options you can enable like body vibration sensor by pressing the button and the lock button on your remote. I recommend not to play with it unless you are really sure as multiple wrong options will lock your car and will have to take it to maruti dealer to reset.

Today my Car is at service centre, as per supervisor the AC sound has been rectified and I have asked them to fit a pollen filter which can avoid suction of leaves or paper towards AC blower.
We are also getting Teflon Coating done for approx price Rs4000 - SONAX brand which has one or three years (not sure) warranty and 2nd coat after one year.

Once servicing is done, planning to go for permanent plastic mat for entire floor area which will cost me around Rs2500.

Seat covers are still at hold as I am planning to get a suede leather or very high quality fabric materials which are there in Honda City or Civic. Any pointer for same in bangalore is much appreciable.
If I could not find as per my liking in Bangalore then will opt for basic Fabric seat cover from Elegant or MGA approx 4k.

Yeah even I thought for the same but for me to do waxing every 15 days is not possible as we are staying a apartment not an independent house. I miss my parent home which has a big lawn and ample water supply.

I always get my bike ZMR teflon coating on each service which keeps my bike always shinning till next service.

Try and find guys who come home and wax the car iam sure you will find any in banglore not 15 days but maybe in 45 days . Here in Mumbai you must buy your own wax and just give labour charges they take something like say 250 rs .

Nice idea, I can find some car maintenance shop and they can do the same, infact there is one shop at a distance of 700m from my home.

Got my car back and refill the fuel by 31litre which made it till brim. So total mileage I got is around 16.45 KMPL ( 510 KM /31 Litr). I learned driving on the same car so at least 30-40% driving was in 1-2 gear.

Now come to service part :
1: Servicing cost was zero.
2: Rs 4000 for Teflon coating from Sonax brand with 3 year warranty and 2nd coat after 1 year.
3: AC sound was fixed and they replaced filter.

I got my new Ertiga ZDi (White) colour on 02/Jan/2013. It has so far run about 150 kms and I noticed few things which I want to share and seek suggestion / advise.

1> I heard a strange hisssing sound when I started the car -- this is not heard everytime but this happened 2 times so far. For a minute I thought it was like loosing air from back left Tyre. The noise was heard from back seat (Second row).
Have anyone of you experienced this? Please let me know

2> I am used to driving Alto before. I am not sure if this is characteristics of diesel car but thought will seek advise from experienced owners...

the car moves without pressing on Accelerator pedal.....lets say I am in 4th gear. When I press the accelerator, the car moves to say 50 kms/hr and the when I release the pedal, the car does not slow down immdly, it moves in the same speed to a large distance and I am able to change gears (to 3rd or even 5th) unlike my Alto which slows down immdly when I release my Accelerator pedal.
I inquired about this with Mandovi Motors but I was told that all Ertiga runs this way.

Can someone throw me light on this please?

Many Thanks

Hi everyone,

Got the delivery of Ertiga VDI White colour. Sofar its been a beautiful experience driving her. In the Manual provided by Maruti Suzuki, company recommends to shifts gears as per below for getting maximum fuel efficiency.

>10 - 2nd gear
>20 - 3rd gear
>30 - 4th Gear
>40 - 5th gear.

Have anyone achieved fuel efficiency of 30 Kms per Ltr when driving as per above with speed of max 70 in 5th gear. I have yet to experiment it and will surely update the results.

Happy Driving.

bye

Hey I have not read the manual but I felt very sluggish in 5th gear if the speed is less than 55-60 and in 4th gear less than 35-40.

Other experienced driver may confirm the same. Recently I have done 1000 KM trip and I noticed as mentioned.

Please don't drive in this speed with the fifth gear, you will get a good mileage no issue, but you are giving a lot of work to engine and clutch's life gets lowered, it is recommended to keep speeds at >50 or 60.

+1 for Vishwas and one question is it possible to get 30kmpl from 1300cc ? i dont think so. In normal driving conditions i've got 20kmpl max while driving at steady 80-90kmph.

It is very difficult to get that figure even with a smaller displacement engine. It would require a lot of mods and engine would have to tuned to perfection.
