Maruti Suzuki Ertiga ZDi Bought: Ownership Review

Congrats for your new car! Feeling really bad about what the thief did to you.
I had also taken Ertiga Diesel test drive last month, it's an amazing car. But somehow I was more inclined towards Sedan of > 4 m length. So had to zero down on Manza due to tight budget and VFM factor.
Ertiga has lots of spaces but since my car will carry max 3 passengers, Ertiga was too mucch spacious for me.![[;)]](https://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/images/smilies/Wink.gif "Wink [;)]")

Pretty happy with job done by Service station guys, up till now it is looking good.
Just hope it does not happen again.
Have got motion detection camera fit focussing car, will get GPS too..
I think this should do to avoid any such happening again.
The day after my car was tried to be stolen, thieves stole Innova from inside the society and Honda City from opposite road where my car was parked.

Good thing that you got it fixed. The alarm doesnt work when the windows are broken. It will only work when the door is opened when the car is locked. Here's a way to test youre Ertiga's Security system. Go inside the car, roll the windows down completely so that you can reach the door locks from outside, Lock the car from the remote like normal. Then reach your hand inside and open the door lock, the alarm will not go off yet, then open the door, now the alarm goes off, Switch off the alarm and then close everything, windows, door, and the lock the car. Now think that the thief tried to Enter your car like this and closed everything and went away. But still you will get to know if someone has tampered with your car, the normal unlocking sound is just two beeps *Beep*Beep*. When the car is tampered with, it will show three beeps *Beep*Beep*beep*beep. So now you have locked the ertiga, now unlock it and you will hear three beeps, lock it and unlock it again and you will still hear three beeps, so to disable the three beeps and make it into the normal two beeps, You have to go into the car, Put the car into ignition, Press the ALARM button below the place where you insert the key when in ignition, and then take the key off the car, lock it, and unlock it again, now it will return back to the normal 2 beeps.

This is my first post! Booked an Ertiga ZXI Serene Blue and expecting Delivery this weekend. Few questions - I stay in Bangalore.
1) In terms of freebies - I wasn't offered much - the mandatory 20K discount from Maruti plus 1500 Corporate discount. thats all in terms of cash reduction
2) Some 3K worth of essential accessories which part of the price list they said they will give it to me for free
3) Body side moulding and bumper corner protectors - free
4) Air filter free, mud flaps - either its free or comes as part of the car itself
5) He also said he will give me a free Teflon coating for free.but not sure if its a good idea to have any coating on a brand new car
6) Door sill guard - free

Also I have a tata aig insurance on my current car - Versa. When I did a googling on policy bazaar I got the lowest quotes from L&T insurance and Bharti AXA - is it possible to bargain with tata aig showing him these quotes? I called their toll free number and their Bangalore offices but response has not been very good. Every time they say they will get back and never do

Consider yourself very lucky that you got so many accessories for free, as most of us didn't get even one thing for free (including me).

I was feeling bad as I thought I was getting less since my friend who bought a Xylo got seat covers and tons of other goodies. Please PM me and I shall tell you the name since officially they are not support to give anything for free and I dont want them to get into any trouble.
One reason could be that Ertiga sales are going down plus this is year end. So they may be trying to meet their targets. Even assuming these dealers get a 15% margin. we are talking about about a profit of more than a lac. Also what is your opinion about Teflon quoting? Guess this is not the underbody 3M coating but its on the surface. The other "famous" auto website of India says dont get any teflon coating on new cars. any thoughts ? they say it may not even be genuine teflon but some wax polishing stuff.

HI..I need an urgent help as I need to close this today itself.
Maruti insurance from dealer is quoting zero depreciation for my ZXI for around 24K. I am assuming this will be on ex showroom price.
I checked with Tata Aig - my existing insurers for existing car. They are quoting around 18K taking into account discounts and NCB.
The only different I understand is that in case of Maruti insurance service will be better from the dealer and I may not have to pay any cash upfront whereas for tata aig I may have to pay and claim later.
Apart from the above difference is there any other difference or issue I need to be aware of - or when Maruti says zero depreciation and Tata says zero depreciation - they both mean the same and hence it wont make a difference whether I take it from either of them.
Please reply urgently as I need to close this today since my car is due for delivery this friday. Thx

My dealer is acting funny when it comes to Maruti insurance saying they dont have tie up with this company and that company and not giving me a number where I can discuss things like NCB.
Assuming Tata Aig delays this process, shall I take Maruti insurance for 24k without NCB and in the next one year sell my old vehicle and hopefully tata will add another 5% of NCB to the existing 25%? and then I tell Maruti to take 30% from year two premium? does it work that way?
