Just imagine a mini Innova with 'Altis Diesel engine' in it under a 10L bracket. Ertiga is very close to that even if it is not a Toyota. [roll]

tv reviews mentioned that maruti claims that diesel mileage should be around 20kmpl which would translate to 16kmpl in real world situations.

The last weekend reviews on TV - Times Now, NDTV & I think BUTV gave the following views:

- Strong product from Maruti stable, includes ABS, EBD
- Pricing to be max 9 lac for top end and this is deciding factor for sedan buyers & Innova/Xylo buyers too
- Enough space in the 2nd row & 3rd row (although not shown fully) space was stated to be enough for kids
- Diesel engine shows visible power lag till higher rmp is hit
- Overall good rating for the product

My thoughts:

- The engine could have been more powerful around 120-125 bph and higher torque - especially when the car is expected to lug 7 passengers
- Leather seats in top model would have been welcome - reviews showed it a beige
- The 2nd row sliding seats may be a face saver to provide more leg room for 3rd row
- Pricing will be key, but not sure it will move Innova/Xylo segment buyer in hordes.

One prob with ertiga is if you need boot space & decide to fold the 3rd row seats, the 2nd row seats need to push too further rendering very less legroom & if the driver or front seat passenger has pushed the seat back, the one won't be able to sit properly at all in 2nd row. This is due to its small length, 4.2 m.

Either boot space or comfort, it is a compromise here unlike innova.
And pricing is the sole key for its success.

Yep, it is other way round. My bad. And it will have about 89 ps power unlike 75 ps of swift/dzire from same 1.3 multijet from fiat.

Yes. The launch is happening tomorrow. Maruti Suzuki has already put up some teaser hoardings out here for Ertiga.

One should remove the last row of seats and install them only on demand.
Else the 3rd row might have unsatisfied customers.

Don’t you think that Ertiga will lose the actual USP in that case? Maruti is aiming the segment of people who are seeking for a low-cost substitute of Innova in a compact avatar. Although last row seats might be low on comfort but I think something is better than having nothing. And without the last row seats, Ertiga will be nothing more than an estate car which are always a flop in India.

i meant they should be easily detachable. with this the 2nd row passengers do not lose on the legroom and get decent boot space when there are about 5 passengers.
