The new Baleno will be a game changer, just because it is a MARUTI.
Not really Krishna. In the recent past, products like CIAZ, S-Cross and even some of the regulars like Celerio Diesel haven't proved game changers for MSIL and more recently with launch of Kwid, their Alto twins too shall face the heat eventually. It certainly takes time though, but, the buyers shall gradually learn to evaluate the products rather than the brand only.

I sincerely hope so as Products like Zest, Ford Aspire lose out just because of Brand Value. I feel more the competition the better for us buyers, the result of this monopoly or duopoly we customers end up getting half loaded cars whereas the so called prime market get more feature loaded cars and better safety measures. The Baleno in this case looks a lot like Swift and seeing that it would be pushed as a premium hatchback i would have wanted a completely different looking car from Maruti.

First drive report of Baleno diesel by Shapur Kotwal:

First impression of #Baleno D; it's light and quite effortless to drive, despite only 75bhp. Ride's also good
first car in india to get Apple car play.

Non touchscreen console too looks really classy and high quality!

Fuel Efficiency! :
There you have it! The efficiency figure of the petrol manual. It's a whopping 21.4 KMPL ! :D
And you've been waiting for it! The diesel comes in at 27.39 kmpl! :D Now this was certainly coming!

The question is weight, seems they have saved a lot.

The question is how have they saved on weight but still kept passenger safety in mind, but using more expensive light weight steels or as in the case of Indian swift/dzire crash tests, by using a lesser grade of steel for body and sheet metal.
Well let the Indian public decide, but over the last 5 years with the Swift/Dzire/Ertiga refreshes Ciaz etc, Maruti variants are getting lighter for the same engines. All the competition is now going down this route.

Dunno why but I can see discounts coming on i20 and Jazz. This thing actually looks a but imposing in the pictures and I won't be surprised if it cannibalises:
Swift and DZire V and Z variants
Hyundai i20
Honda Jazz
Volkswagen Polo

In fact this car offers exactly what people used to complain of in Swift; cabin and boot space. I MO long waiting lists and a massive hit is gonna hit our roads this festive season. C'mon Maruti, force these Hyundai guys to give discounts on i20.

Reading the above paper from the NEXA rep, what now interests me is the pricing.
Even the base variants also will be fine for this vehicle but going by all this, I don't expect it to be priced lesser than at least the Z trims of Swift. Maybe the Z trims of Swift and base trims of Baleno will overlap, taking DZire V trims also into the picture.

BTW after S Cross there we have one more Maruti Suzuki with no 'Maruti Suzuki' written anywhere over it.

So does that mean that Nexa is not just going to be a showroom brand but a car brand itself? Which means Suzuki will follow the lexus way of toyota. Nice strategy to offer high priced products.
