Difference between alpha & zeta are projector headlights & touch screen. Not much of a loss in my opinion but you take a call

I suggest people to get a good android tablet and use it as movie player, music player, for google maps, and thousands of usable apps with latest android as it has far superior capacitive touch high resolution display that can be easily charged with USB cable when you leave your car in rest.
And LED lamps can be added later from either 3rd party or by Nexa by paying around 25k more.
Hello dear TAI members, this is my first post on the forum. I hope I can learn and add value to the discussions here. I am a big time petrolhead and have had done many projects like building off-road vehicle to complete bike restorations. Even my automotive team at college had "Team Petrolheads" name registered for SAE events like BAJA and Supra F1. [drive][cheers]

My point of view on installing tablets in car are a bit different.
I have had tried installing tablet directly as a Headunit coupled with inputs to amplifier in my car somewhere around 4 years back, I used a micromax tablet that time as it was under budget and didn't had many options. To be frank I researched a lot and finally accomplished this DIY project but within a couple of months I realized that nothing can replace a company fitted Headunit.

Probelms were
1) USB has a low voltage output and takes legacies to charge , moreover if the battery is low you face frequent restarts. Also the boot-up time for a tablet is around 1 minute and by the time you start vehicle and get going after a couple of minutes or so you again have to stop to play music.
2)The tablet cannot be left in car whenever you go somewhere, there are always chances of someone breaking the glass to steal the tab.[thumbsdown]
3) you have to get a proper mount for the tab else it keeps falling.
4) there are wires hanging around for aux and charging which IMO doesn't looks good.
5)You cannot attach reverse cameras to tab easily (there are ways but it is very tedious and needs wire cutting which may void warranty)
6) Steering mounted controls are not functional on tablet. (only play pause works)
7) whenever you put your car in reverse, the music stops playing as a matter of safety concern but that feature is not available in tablets.
8) You cannot pair up your cellphone to tablets to receive calls or make calls. you have to choose either Aux in or BT-input at a time. Neither can you connect multiple phones.
9) You will always need data for accurate navigation in tablets whereas company fitted HU provided in baleno works offline.( please correct me if i am wrong here)
10) The over all setup at OEM looks pretty decent and soothing to eyes.

Hi Guys,
Got my first car, Baleno Alpha [:D] and was so excited and drove it so slowly to crash it now replacing bumper [frustration][embarass].

Now I understood why people say Baleno is so delicate.

VW Polo is the only hatch back in India as of today which is under 10 lakhs and has a strong bumper, even Figo,Zest,Jazz,Elite i20, all have wafer thing bumpers,
Light front bumpers sometimes helps in pedestrian protection as well by not hurting the victim,

So how much was the cost for replacement?

Maruti has strategically lowered production of Swift and DZire in favor of Baleno

Heard Maruti is developing an in house 1.5l 4 cylinder diesel(from partnership with VW) engine with 100 PS and 200+ NM and its already undergoing testing

Despite it being good or bad it will kill all other hatch backs in India, also its said to be crash test friendly, so I think this is a good move as at least Baleno has a proper 3*** NCAP rating while SWift/Dzire still are far behind.

@Suryaputra maynot be interested but the world is specially all developed and even developing nations are interested, we even got mocked by Jeremy Clarkson for having the worst and most dangerous roads and traffic system on earth, and despite all this if our cars are too not safe at least in a mitigated safety test, how bad can the situation be when the situation is for real,

Thats why its gaining more momentum, more over India has more car deaths tha two wheeler deaths, so its got some serious outcomes,

However experienced I maybe I shouldnt be using an arc weld without a glouse, but we Indians do it often and its not a credit, safety is priority.

Re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Now Launched!

Good morning TAIans!

I am very excited as i am going to take delivery of my Baleno Aplha(P) fire red colour. I have planned to keep the car as stock as possible and only thing which itches me here is the shape of the alloys provided.

Keeping in mind that I can't go for alloy replacement as of now as I am tight on budget I decided to paint the alloys black like the one provided in Baleno RS or Matt Black.

Like these ones, suggestions are most welcome on colour of alloys which would go hand in hand with car colour.

The painting has 2 options as well [clap]

1) PlastiDip the alloys using spray cans
2) Get them painted permanently.

Please suggest which on of the two is better, which method is economical and which process lasts longer.
Looking forward to get options from you all and if someone could help me in locating paint shop where I could get these done somewhere around east delhi (anand vihar)
TIA
