Guys, any other owners observe that the headlights dim when releasing clutch in 1st or when the engine gets loaded? I spoke to the ASC and the MS representative about this and they inform no one else has complained of this

If you have clamp meter I can post alternator checking procedure from service manual.

slight headlight dimming happens on all small cars when engine is loaded. it's normal.
To be very frank with you, it never happened in the Swift. Byt then, I was not looking for it either. Lets see what an alternator test shows

Using a Hella relay kit with the 55W xtremevision bulbs. Reduce the issue a bit but still happens.

Another thing- do these bulbs dim with time?

1> Sounds like you have a weak battery or Alternator as such things should not happen with relay kit.

2> OEM bulbs do not dim. They just go poof at EOL. However XT bulbs are blue coated so It may be possible that coatings darken with Heat/time.

Relay kit is nothing to do with current, it is to bypass original harness to safeguard, not to melt, in ameyam case I suspect relay kit , because it is directly connected to battery, ground and to head lamps so there is no provision for BCM and ECM to regulate prescribed current limit to headlamps and they can not monitor because you have bypassed it. Anyway today I am posting alternator checking procedure from service manual.

@ameyam see the attachment for alternator checking. If you confuse wiring and connection diagram just follow below procedure

1. Switch on high beam
2. Put AC blower full speed
3. Connect the clamp meter to battery negative cable
4. Someone run the engine at 2000 rpm.

Clamp meter should read 20Amps, if reading less than 20Amps your alternator is faulty.

I suggest you do this check First thing in the morning, and esp after using headlamps with engine off for 5.mins.

because alternator will not charge already full battery (eg after a drive).

I am writing info regarding baleno body structure in two days with the pictures and details from baleno service manual. Check that and decide yourself.
Hi Suryaputhra,

Waiting for your report on baleno structural integrity. I am also considering Ford Figo Titanium 1.5 Diesel in my list. Any suggestion on Figo Diesel ?

And what is your take on reliability of Ford Diesel engine ?
My experience on ford started with 1996 ford escort to fiesta and aspire, but regarding reliability I have not ventured it. Gross opinion they are very reliable. I personally want to try ford in near future or immediately due to unwelcoming policies by Maruti suzuki. If you are very interested in figo go for it, no regrets.[:)]
