Re: Maruthi Baleno 2015 - Alpha Petrol :: White Horse - Ownership Review

I think you could have waited and took the granite grey color itself because as you said the color in baleno is very rare. Whit is also a good color and i am not saying it is bad i gels well with the black smoke headlamps. IMO i would have opted granite grey or autumn orange.
Problem is that those people who have booked G.Grey Shade during November 1st week around the same time that I booked didn't get their Car delivered even today. And also I'm not regretting for taking White as i feel the Car in white is looking more premium IMO.

Also slightest of the scratches are also being seen clealry on G.Grey. (I saw some scratches on side step at the rear on G.Grey Display Car). So scratches on the car are clearly visible in Grey color than on White.

End of the Day I am happy with the White.

Horn Upgrade to Roots Windtone (From my old car)

Got the horn changed last weekend. No wires cut and no splices. Direct plug and play.[clap]
Used the parts catalogue manual to find out what all are the screws or clips that holds the bumper.

Parts Catalogue Image

Started to remove the bumper by unscrewing the screws and clips on left and right sides which we see once we open the bonnet. [Number 13 (Clip) and Number 14 (Screw) from Parts Catalogue Image]

Then removed the screw near both the front Tyre wells. [Number 10 (Screw) from Parts Catalogue Image]

tyre well.jpg

Now under the bumper there are 4 screws and 4 clips to be removed. [Number 15 and Number 13 from Parts Catalogue Image]

Bumper_under1.jpg

pull the corners of the bumper which will be fixed in its place using a holder on wither side of the car. [ Number 5 from Parts Catalogue Image]

Completely removed bumper.

fully rmeoved.jpg

There are 2 horns placed one below the other as seen in the below image. One is marked as H(High) and other as L (Low).

horn1.jpg

Now removed the Horn marked as L and placed one Roots horn there and the other near the coolant inlet as I couldn't fix the roots horn in the slot due to its shape[frustration]. So didn't remove the horn marked as H and left it as it is. Routed the stock wiring and fixed the pins to roots horn placed at coolant inlet and the other set of pins to the one positioned at Horn L.

Update:

4000 KMS in 2 Months 10 Days

Complaints -- Nil.
No notable changes in the car. NVH levels are good even on highways at 100KMPH.

Picture taken at Bangalore Airport Toll gate.

speedo.jpg

Did a long ride on Monday to Bangalore. Total Kms travelled 610 Kms.
The overall ride was good. We were 4 people including me on board and none of them complained about the back seat comfort. Felt strange as i was expecting some complaint from them. I asked them if there is any discomfort seating in the back seat for almost 6 hrs 30 mins. The concern was the thigh support was not good and should have been better.

The mileage I got was around 18.5 tank full to tank full method @ 100 KMPH through out and with AC on for about last 100 Kms.

The MID was showing 22.6 or so thru out the first half tank. It was after the half tank mark that it started coming down slowly though my driving has not changed. Finally it came and settled at 20.1 kmpl. And i felt a digital fuel meter would have been good to understand how much fuel is left (Distance to empty is not accurate to my understanding) in the tank as there is drastic drop of needle once the fuel needle comes to last quarter. When i was near the airport toll gate i had a quarter tank of fuel left and did 570kms as can be seen in the image and it dropped at fast pace from there on. So finally I refuelled it today at trip reading 656 kms and the tank took 35.77 lts.

Here is the refill history since i took the delivery. Avg mileage is close to 18kmpl as of now.

Well the waiting for MSIL cars is too high. Even my uncle's Nexa has a minimum waiting of 90 days for Baleno. Moreover, in coming days, due to sudden calling-off of the operations at MSIL plant, the waiting might extend further. I have advised my relatives who were intending to buy a Baleno by replacing RITZ to book after March-2016.

Even Akash, 90 days (3 months) waiting period is pretty low compared to a normal waiting period which is 4-5months in coimbatore, even though waiting 3 months for a car is waste of time IMO rather consider a better alternative car for baleno.[:)]. And i was just shock when i heard 4 months for diesel and 5 months for petrol waiting period, So that i thought its better to leave baleno. The only thing i noticed is MSIL is losing lots of valuable customers.[sad]

Update:

5000 Kms in 4 months.

2nd Service Done.
Amount - Rs. 0 [clap]

Complaints: Nil

Major thing that i noticed is Car doesn't stall now near signals or speed breakers. May be i got habituated with the clutch play.

My only concern is less mileage and Thanks to Bangalore Traffic for that. I'm getting around 13kmpl in Bangalore whereas i used to get around 18.7 Avg.

@chsrdeepu8

I have a lots of queries about Baleno. But I will stick to one broad question now :P How does the drive of Baleno feel compared to your old Amaze.

More specifically, how does the steering feel when driving on highways. Does it feel heavier than Amaze esp. on winding roads.

Hi, I don't see a major difference in the drive except NVH levels. But my Amaze was a diesel and Baleno is Petrol. So cant compare the NVH levels between these two. In the City I feel amaze was a lot better than Baleno where as on Highways its opposite. Suspension is on stiffer side in Baleno than on Amaze. I did only one long highway trip as of now and that is from Hyd to Bang and i feel the steering is well weighted infact heavier than Amaze.

Just Adding to #soap which M.A.S.S do you go for you servicing in Bengaluru and how is their servicing.
Hi, I been to Bimal in Mahadevapura. And servicing i rate it around 8.
Washing is worst. I myself will wash better than what they did. [roll]
