Happy Birthday Dear Car

Time flies by. My love has turned 23 today. I still remember the day when our car came back to us in shoddy condition.
Since then we have been putting our continuous effort to bring it back to its desired shape.
Though, still it's not perfect in all terms, but i have brought this car long long way from where i had started. This will continue till the time it comes back to showroom condition.
Yes, there are some difficulties in restoring a car from that pathetic shape. Biggest difficulty is planning your finances. Not to mention second biggest difficulty, procuring all original spare parts, provided the shoddy service by MGP store guys (Especially in Ranchi).
But then, i have learnt that patience is the key to success and i am very patient in restoring this car. I am going slow, planning all my financials, sorting out all issues one by one, and I won't rest until I achieve that showroom finish.
Some people call me mad, but I consider myself a lover. [;)] They think i am a maniac that I spend money on car parts rather than spending money on clothes and partying and stuffs. But then i don't give a damm about these things and i hardly care. I know what am i upto and I know what I want to achieve.
I have explored lesser known places in Ranchi for original parts (Scrap yard, different spare part shop etc).

Some unadulterated stuff directly from my heart-
" Never realised she looked so divine,
Never realised she had grown younger with time.
Never did she reveal her age, with slightest slack,
I love her, and she loves me back."

Here I present, ladies and gentlemen, the love of my life-Mera Sapna, Meri Maruti [clap]

Happy Birthday dear car. Haven't you named it something yet?? Feels absurd to call it "a car" everytime. Its more than a car to you, I'm sure.
Nevertheless, your car is in excellent shape now, considering its earlier state. I am sure it would be in its early glory soon.

BTW, When and where [;)]is the party?? [:D]

I'm surprised to see the hard work and dedication put up after this car. Keep going. One day it'll be back to glory. It almost seems done and with your continous effort, I'm sure it will be back to showroom condition. I also happen to own an old beauty i.e a 2004 Maruti Suzuki Alto Lx.
I also belong to Ranchi and looking forward to see your 800 in person soon. :)

Swapnil

The emblem on your type 1 grills are looking so original without further painting. Maintain this beauty on your car forever, Also love your car. The steering wheel feels incomplete, try to find another one of the same type 1. Also find new door pads and use it with clips and avoid screws. Wish you safe journeys.
Peel off those stickers on the head lamps and place a small round sticker at the center of the head lamps. It will give your car a new look.

Yes maruti 800, that logo has original paint, so i have left it as it is. As of now i have already changed the steering wheel to a decent looking one, restored the old one too.
Got a radiator grille with logo (logo needs some paint), have fitted a new fuel tank, Got new head lamps, bonnet opener, 4 new type 1 rims and couple of extra spares.
Pending works are steering overhaul and new radial tyres. As of now i am using cross ply tyres.
And yes, i have already peeled those sevice station stickers from the hls as well as back glass.
Since i am planning to do couple of long drives in this car, radials will b better option.

Hi guys, i am back with too many updates. All the work which i have done on this car in last one year. Now all the issues have been sorted out, car runs like new, very smooth, you leave the steering at 100-110 kmph, and the car goes arrow straight. No wobbling, no pulling, no noise. Absolutely silent.
I have also planned a complete servicing in the coming week.
Following are the works done-

100/90 Headlight wiring kit with relay

Osram 100/90 bulbs, later changed to Minda 100/90

New combination switch- Anupam (Decent switch, quality same as MGP)

Lucas Double horns with relay

Petrol Tank

Steering wheel

New seat recliners (My original ones were welded by the previous owners, and i wasn't able to find the type 1 recliners, so had to wait)

New Front brake disc and brake pads

Caliper pin greasing

Brake Calipers Overhaul

Carb cleaning

Distributor overhaul and chords changed (Ign coil to Distributor, One high tension and one earthing chord)

Petrol filter

Mid cross member- This was an unplanned repair, as during underbody inspection i noticed some rust on the mid cross member and decieded to change it compketely.

Themostat changed and radiator flushed

New tyres - MRF ZCC 145/70R12 (tube type)

New rims- Two of my rims had some rust and one was bent at many places, so changed all fours (Rs 815 each)

Lug nuts

Wheel balancing

Wheel alignment

Rear brake servicing

Rear wheel bearings (Both wheels)

Brake master cylinder (Too much play in brake pedal, resolved after changing the cylinder)

Engine bay weatherstrip

New head lamps

New Back door balancer

Bonnet opner logo

Original monograms (T 1)- Hindi maruti on left, English MARUTI SUZUKI on right.

New Kalpana Tool kit (MGP)

Apart from all this i have sourced a radiator grille (T1), and the DX clock which will be fitted in the coming days.

Lastly, i would thank swiftshashi for sourcing majority of rare spare parts and helping me in every possible way. He also accompanied me to the workshop to supervise the work. [;)]
