Since ill also be rotating tyres shortly will need TPMS recalibrated - i hear its a easy process.
By that logic it should need to be recalibrated every time there is a puncture. True?

Do post a snap of the TPMS sensor.

Yes because the XUV shows tyre pressure and temperature readings individually for all 4 tyres + spare, this procedure will need to be done if any tyre is swapped. It will tell the precise tyre which might need attention.

Re: Mahindra XUV5OO: "The Dark Knight" Buying & Ownership Experience [39K Kms Crossed

The XUV completes 2 years this week [clap][clap]. It has served me really well and has been one of the best VFM car purchases I made. I decided it deserves a nice wash, need to do a 3M treatment as well as monsoon has retreated.

Its done nearly 40k in 2 years inspite this not being my only ride. So that's decent running. The last one year has been uneventful after the initial gremlins got sorted, thanks to good relations at the service center i have managed to get most of the new updated items as well - so in all an extremely vfm affair. Its run like new and gives great FE. Its nearly time for the 40k service.

Congrats IR, on completing 2 successful years.

Wish you many more miles of safe and happy motoring.

And you have maintained it very well.

And I am just waiting for the maintenance book/ tips of cleaning the vehicle.

If possible please post the approximate maintenance cost of XUV.

Thank you sir, but you are really taking the mickey out of me by asking for maintenance tips. Your 5 year old scorpio is a benchmark in the forum for looking as good as new at that age! i always use it as an example and even shared the link with friends.

40K Service Update ! This is a major service which includes all replacements.

Costs Breakup :-
1) Oil Filter - 231
2) Fuel Filter - 1324
3) Air Filter - 791.11
4) Stab bushes(front and back, I asked for changing as new design was available) - 160+142 for 4 pieces.
5) Minor items like washers, grease etc - 110
6) Engine Oil - 1286+256
7) Clutch fluid - 89
8) Power steering Hose again replaced under warranty as i noticed a very minor leak - 0
9) Labour - 2520 + 697
10) Got the car cleaned in/out/engine bay etc - free part of xuv promo.

Total - 7606

Rotated the tyres finally (this was the first time bad boy me !) - but my tyres still seem to have good life for another 40k or i hope so. This is whopping if it happens. I did the TPMS learning after the rotation, one tip is the learning happens when the sensor detects pressure variations, so you can remove air and also pump in air as needed to make this happen faster - it works both ways.

Cost - 750

Maps upgraded to latest version as well.
- Got charged 225 for this, i could have battled, but never mind.

Total - 8581

The XUV breathes beautifully now!

Spent the whole monday at the service centre and even had lunch with all the grease monkeys - it was gratifying - most of the times we curse them for quality/issues etc etc, but its heartening to sometimes hear the challenges they face and their work culture issues. I have promised to take them out someday.

A new partner will join the XUV in the garage soon and i hope they get along well.[:D]

So you have tasted Mahindra's salt - make sure your next car is a Mahindra .

By the way, whats the +256 in the engine oil bill?

Shhh, you know it anyways, and you have been the devilish influencer! I bloody hope its the right decision in the long run!

5 litre dabba costs 1286 + 256 for an additional litre , xuv gulps 6 litres - burpp!

Hi Iron Rock,
Do you mean that the tires may last 80000 kms  !
Regards,
Aneesh.
Yes I think it might, the bridgestone duellers are hardy and i have been very finicky about the tyres infact didnt rotate them as the wear was linear and also XUV legendary problems with wheel alignment made me paranoid.

I have seen 90k run tyres with still some final life left at the service centre, since i use in very bad roads, i am hoping 80k is possible - optimism i know!

That's a great milestone IR buddy[clap].

And your beast is looking great and very well maintained. What are the secret tips[glasses].

Quick question, what format videos do you play in your XUV?

Just a regular wash and waxing it every month atleast - i happened to use a shampoo called fresno, i found it better than formula 1 - you might want to try it - if you can find one though.

I have just once played a dvd, never apart from that, unless i put a screen behind its futile to even talk about the dvd player as the car dash only works when car is static.

Hey IR,
I hear a slight squeaky sound while turning the steering under acceleration. Any ideas what it could be?

Is it from the tyres ? like tyres squealing, then surely its an alignment problem, try a full 180 degree turn at full lock say at 10kmph or so. it will squeal if the alignment is awry. Do it on tarmac.

Edit :- Also check if you are leaking oil from the power steering hose near the front right tyre(its a common issue) - if it leaks you will slowly hear your power steering pump moaning(especially when turning) and it increases with time.

not able to pin point if it is from tyres/suspension. Will try the above diagnosis.

Keep the windows down and music off and try this - let me know where from the sound is coming, i have given 2 most common xuv items, there could be other possibilities as well.
