Re: Mahindra XUV5OO: "The Dark Knight" Buying & Ownership Experience [40K Kms Crossed

Sorry for not much updates recently sir, xuv is doing brilliantly well, crossed 42k recently and chugging along. I dont have any single niggle or rattle.

This weekend i drove the xuv and pajero back to back - xuv really drives like a light weight butterfly, everything seems so light after driving the pajero especially, gears, clutch and steering - i am consistently getting in the range of 15-16kmpl(even a high of 17kmpl) now as city driving in the xuv has lessened.

its time for the 3m treatment for xuv - need to do it sometime soon.
IR!!! You bought Pajero?

Have i missed your report or ownership thread?

I have been given this thread some step fatherly treatment recently, but the running of xuv has come down recently thanks to the other buy. Nothing much to report it's touching 43k and since iron rock sr. also drives this now the fe has further increased , last full tank gave a 16.2kmpl

I haven't got a chance to get the 3m treatment done yet, hopefully before the end of this month, pics will come then.

one doubt i have been having, AWD is not really necessary right if the car sticks to tarmac all the time? like it will never ever touch slush or mud or anything remotely similar to that.
and also is FE different of AWD and FWD variants of W8?

yup you are right AWD is not needed if the car sticks to Tarmac it is not even needed for minor slush or mud.
FE for AWD and FWD doesnt differ much as AWD is turned off when not in use

There are many different AWD systems working out on different mechanical/sensor arrangements, full time, part time on demand etc etc - so it really depends which AWD systems are you referring. AWD vehicles generally can be run on tarmac in AWD mode, it provides better traction, better dynamics, handling and control - there are benefits and you burn extra fuel as well.

Some 4x4 vehicles cant run on tarmac though in 4x4 mode, as they need slip, whereas some vehicles like the pajero or fortuner they can cater to a multitude of circumstances - thanks to the center differential.

I was speaking specifically for XUV. I thought he wanted to know about XUV.

Well the XUV is dynamically brilliant anyways - so awd for tarmac in xuv is kind of luxury stuff. Yes it will help in some mickey mouse offroading , light and easy stuff in which all 4 tires need some traction, it doesnt have low ratios so it can only cater to so much - I dont think ill recommend a XUV AWD to anyone (but then never say never)

Gave a nice wash to the XUV and took it out for a long drive (after a long time) - enjoyed doing the expressway with the XUV after a long time. Driving the XUV is fundamentally opposite to that of the Pajero Sport due to the nature of the vehicles and i enjoy it all the more hence.

Its just about touching 43k now and feels butter smooth, especially clutch is very light and gearbox is super smooth now - the engine feels relaxed and well bed in and yes 6 speed gearbox gives it so much more flexibility than the 5 speed i have on the sport. The tires still feel as if they have about 40k left which seems whopping , the bridgestone tires are really hardy - probably the only quality they have.
