^^^ Will PM you the details.

EDIT: There are still no niggles, touch wood. But I want to make sure that all the recalls or probable defects have been replaced in my car too.
Why to PM details when this is public forum. The post that you made today and what Raja posted are so contradicting to each other. Could you please throw some light on this?

Nice.

Sorry buddy, I dont feel the need to prove my credibility at the moment over here. There is a reason I had to PM Raja. The whole point of PMing him is because I cant say something on an open forum. Hope you understand.

The Mahindra XUV500 has been the flagship offering from Mahindra for quite sometime now. It has been a massive hit in India with sales of over 50,000 units in about 16 months from launch.

The XUV has certainly given its rival, the Tata Aria a very hard time. However, it seems as though Mahindra itself is feeling the heat of the lackluster scenario prevailing in the Indian auto market.

Team BHP reports that Mahindra is considering to launch a new low end variant (reportedly called the W4) to the XUV lineup, in an attempt to boost sales. Sales of the XUV went down from 3,721 units to 2,253 units over the January – February period.

Right now, the XUV range starts from about 12 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai) for the base W6 variant. Expect Mahindra to cut down features like rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, automatic temperature control AC and even the 6-inch multimedia system could be replaced with something low tech.

Fact that the XUV had teething problems such as the spongy and poor brakes has not helped the sales as well. Though we hear that Mahindra has improved upon this, it remains unverified.

When asked if a cheaper petrol engine was being considered for the XUV, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President of Mahindra automotive dismissed the idea.

However, our sources have told us that Mahindra could also be planning for a variant more premium than the current W8 with features such as a sunroof being added.

I hope they launch the W4 with basic safety features like 2 Airbags, ABS+EBD and all four disc brakes. And some comfort features like AC vents in all 3 rows , steering audio controls and head unit with USB compatibility.

They can drop the frills like Auto HVAC, auto wipers and headlights, projector headlights, infotainment screen, cruise control, etc.

i for one would just like the bare basic features. ABS/airbags with EBD and at the max 3 rows for AC (2 min). no need for MID cum ICE.
people can choose their own ICE.

Guys i will be going for the 2nd service of my DRACO (XUV W8).

So what are the things i should keep in mind since the 3rd service will be at 20K now.

Also just wanted to ask whether it is advisable to put HID's or something similar in the fog lights to make them more useful?

Having XUV W4 without airbags & just ABS is fine, considering they price it between 9.5-10L. I am sure, it will get lot of takers, especially from duster clan. Early they do, the better.

As long as the warranty is not void, you can surely do that. I would however recommend to opt for Bi-Xenon headlamps, if possible.
