ICB :- Mahindra XUV500 SUV W8 AWD variant bookings stopped: Official Word Out!
Why ?[confused] Do they intend to hike the prices post restart of the bookings then ? In Pune, I saw 2 XUV 500, but both were not AWD.
Don't know whether bookings have stopped due to poor bookings for AWD so that M & M can focus more on W6 & W8 4x2 or some other reason ?[confused]

From what I may assume, innova would have better handling, Aria would have better ride & XUV would have better engine performance. Lets see how it turns up.
Raj buddy, I have a mild request to you, we already know that Aria has weak low end torque, and you have already stalled it twice, so I urge you to drive ARIA above 2000 rpm for the most part of your drive so that you know true engine/dynamic abilities of ARIA vis-a-vis that of XUV(which seems to have very strong low end punch).:please:

Thanks in advance.[:)]

Thats what matters buddy.

Consider this - a swift is 75 bhp, my punto is 90 bhp, but swift feels peppier. even figo with 68 bhp feels better. its all about low end torque.

The Aria I have driven is my uncle's car, I cannot rip it. But I can rip a test drive car, so no worries.

XUV500 has hydraulic mounts for engine whereas Aria & Innova has rubber mounts.
Yes it keeps vibrations in check, but any how Mahindra m-Hawk even in Scorpio was very smooth and refined and was/is still better than tata 2.2.

But unfortunately Xuv ain't a beast to drive ala Scorpio, according to the people who have driven it, though good thing is that its top speed is 190 kmph when compared to Aria 4x4's 170 kmph and Aria 4x2's 180 kmph.

raj ,still patiently waiting for your comparo of Aria vs XUV, bring it on mate.

Well its good to hear that from you Xover.

I am still experiencing the beast and i love to drive it.

They have not bothered to offer a test drive, nor i asked them.
As i will be not going for the XUV now.
Thought why to disturb all other buyers who want to test it & book.
Will go for thorough Test drive once the initial crowd gets less & after extensive research of car will go for one.
According to me W8 FWD is a best VFM, instead of AWD.

XUV cannot be a beast like the scorpio. Scorpio was an intimidating SUV. XUV is softer.

Patience buddy. Problem is Mahindra does not have the AWD XUV for test drive & TATA does not have the Aria 2WD for test drive! How can I compare a XUV 2WD with Aria 4x4?

I wanted Aria 4x2 so that I can compare it with innova & XUV 2WD.

Yes I do understand your problem, but still driving XUV 2wd will give you full idea abt its on road behaviour, and you can still know its full potential just by its drive feel, Aria top end Pride which has got features like ESP, traction control is unfortunately not available in 2wd, so you have no option left other than to compare it with W8 Fwd, I am sure you would not like to compare XUV 500 W8 FWD with ARIA Pure[:)]

BTW:We did agreed upon tata and mahindra, when you actually accepted my point of view that Aria looks more classy than XUV.So it seems that both you and I can sometimes agree abt even tata vs m&m[;)]

I am extremely sorry if my past bashing of mahindra hurt you, actually I just had few rough experiences in past with M&M vehicles, but as I have said earlier I call' a spade a spade',so if I see any good things in any car company I would gladly accept it without any shame.
Have good experience with your car, Cheers[:)]

Price wise I should be comparing W8 with Pure but no dealers have Pure, even on display.

Moreover, with the bookings closed, I am not sure how enthusiastic mahindra dealers will be, to give me a full fledged test drive.

I have told them that I need a proper test drive of the XUV500 for atleast 45 mins including highway & city traffic but the rush for test drives is so much, that for the moment, it feels optimistic. Hence, i would rather prefer to wait & do a nice long TD rather than hurry & do a short round in the name of TD!

yes, the Aria does look classier. Meanwhile a full fledged review of the XUV500 is available on the net. Reviewers say ride & handling of the XUV is better than the Aria & Innova. Advantage of monocoque chassis!

Why to say sorry buddy? I have bashed TATAs in this forum because of my bad experiences too.

Chill bro.

[cheers]

Compare anymodel of Aria with any trim of XUV , fact of the matter is that after extensive 45 min test of both vehicles you will have full idea of what these two cars are capable of in various terrains.

About the looks yes Aria definitely looks better, but Xuv's proportions are better than Aria and you know that we Indians love SUV looks more than CUV looks. But I think where as in concept and proportion XUV is better design than Aria but Mahindra sadly overstyled this beast, that killed the class and finnesse of this product IMO, but nevertheless the pricing just shuts your mouth whether you like the looks or interior quality or not.
About that review you are referring to ,yes I went through it today morning[:)], yes I accept Xuv does handle better and high speed ride is also flat, but what abt the failing/problematic eloctronics mate, I just hope that initial customers have a nice experience with these fancy gadgets otherwise it could be really bad for them, lets hope not, anyways well done mahindra and to tata better reduce the prices of Aria ASAP.[evil]

see, unless it fails, lets not talk about "what if it fails" !!!
After reading most of the reviews about XUV500(first imp+deatailed td) on the net here are some of the positives and negatives of the car according to me, feel free to agree or disagree with any of the given points.

POSITIVES:

1] VFM,VFM,VFM,and more VFM: Yes a truely unbeatable package in terms of its price and what it offers.

2] Butch SUV looks, exactly what Indians want.

3] Best ride and handling in its class.

4] Superlative 2nd row space.

5] Nice firm european seats.

6] Loaded to the gills in terms of safety features and some more.

7] Best in class top speed of 190 kmph, beware BMWs on expressways.

NEGATIVES:

1] Well with the current pricing not too much you can crib about this car, but still it can be better in many areas like interior plastics quality and fit and finish.

2] Looks of this beast are joker like( read:hideous) to say the least. Mahindra designers have marred a wonderful sillouete by trying to make this Rhino look like cheeta.

3] Third row is cramped, Mahindra missed a point here of giving sliding middle row, ala Aria, which could have made this car more flexible.

4] Some of the various extensive tests of this vehicle found on net point a fingure about ESP not working currectly also trouble in start stop system, this is very dangerous trend for potential customers of 16L rs car.

5] But for me the biggest deal breaker is lack of boot space if all 7 seats are occupied by people.Let me give you an analogy, say i am going to hari darshan (pilgrimage )with my entire family which consists of father ,mother, uncle, aunts , small kids etc. and all seats are full then where am i suppose to keep my precious clothes and other items,at my head or my lap, now come on mahindra don't tell me to keep all my expensive luggage at the roof of the vehicle and leave it at mercy of bad weather or at the risk of toppling out of the car, this is where my respect of ARIA has increased immensly because thanks to its humongous boot i can seat all 7 people and keep luggage of all 7 people inside the boot and feel safe unlike at keeping them at top.Mahindra needs to understand that a 7 seater UV needs better luggage space than a 5 seater vehicle, i don't know abt you people but a 7 seater UV without any boot is a big no no for me.

Feel free to agree or disagree with me, also all of other members can add to the positive and negative list which I have given.
