Re: xuv 500 - problem with my radio

Hi guys, I bought a XUV 500 but while the radio is on it will suddenly just make a very loud noise and "Short" out. No noise, no function until I swich the car of and switch it back on again. the noise is like if you should imagine two speaker wires make contact which is not suppose to toutch. Sounds like a gun shot. Please can you give me any suggestions, the service stations in Pretoria can not detect the problem.
@Annakie: Have you/ service personnel tried changing the silver box (inside the head unit) ?? You can ASK for a change. In case of any problem with the display or sound or any issue related to silver box it is supposed to be changed under warranty. And FYI Silver Box Warranty is by Nippon, not by M&M. So if you delay beyond stipulated time while you wait for the symptoms to be reproduced in front of your RM/ SA, it might be too late and Nippon might not agree to change the unit.
Regards

hello everyone. This is my very first post on TAI. I bought XUV 500 W10 'HUNTER' in march 2016 from Ahmedabad. Till date the Hunter has covered 3700 kms and I am facing following problems/ niggles:
1. The sound from ICE sometimes becomes Low on its own and then after some 2-3 secs becomes normal and the cycle continues.
2. The TPMS is showing error since the odometer was at 34 kms. Didnt get time to take to MASS. Hopefully will be corrected in first service.
3. The tweeter seems has gone bad as at loud sound it sounds awful.

But the drive is super smooth. The pickup or should i say Hunter flies as soon as i put my foot down. Will be going to MASS for first service in Jul 1st week.

1.Check whether speed sensing volume control is off.
2.Whether the neck was replaced or the tyre taken out from rims during puncture repair or something?
3.Check wiring of tweeter ,cut off the ,low frequence and set accordingly to hear tweeters alone.

Hi,

I am driving xuv500 w6 model since March this year. My car has done 5k kms and gone through first service. I have few questions which mahindra service guys could not fix-

1. Front wheels make hiss hiss sound as if some pressure is released and taken back, like a piston. When car goes over a speed breaker. Is it normal? Mahindra guys said it is underbody lubrication issue but it did not correct it.

2. The collapsible middle row seat always makes rattling sound as if the lock is loose. While going over bumps. Is it normal? Mahindra says it is normal.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

This is the infamous Clutch Failure. Well documented & Discussed here.

1> That is the air suspension. Pretty normal
2> The Lower lock on Foldable seat is not engaged properly. You really need to slam that seat base on the floor to get it locked.

There are 2 locks. One is at the base (floor). Other is at back rest.

Hello folks,
I am asking this with respect to a friend who owns XUV 500 W8, Done 60k Kms. Brought almost together. The Vehicle is in for 60k Service and SA is suggesting suspension overhaul. Some Busings need to be changed, each busing costs 1100. The overall costs is about 40k INR.

Thats a very steep cost!
Is suspension overhaul mandatory at 60k? If so, SA did not suggest such at my recent 60k Service?
Is Suspension work in XUV Sooo expensive?

My XUV just completed 10,000 km when I faced a problem with the clutch assembly. I had to drive through thick traffic in Pune city during the Dahi-Handi festival for more than 45 minutes, when suddenly, smoke started coming out of the bonnet and the car was full of burning smell. However, I could drive the car and managed to reach my home in 15-20 minutes after this.

I called up the call center and they sent a vehicle to tow the car to Sahyadri Motors, Pune. I have been told that the entire clutch plate is worn out alongwith the cylinder and both are not in warranty due to poor driving habits (half-clutch driving).

More than the cost, I am worried about whether the vehicle will continue to have the same problem whenever I am stuck in traffic and have to inch forward for more than 45-60 minutes !

Is this a known problem, and if yes, what is the best way to handle it ?

Guys, Bad news.

The check engine light came on. Its solid ON. Not blinking. Not going away.

All other functions normal. Entire revv range of engine is available but performance has dulled. The turbo boost seems absent. Engine is behaving like a old NA diesel

What's the status as of now of the check engine light and the error discovered? How many kms has your XUV done?

On the other hand our member Dr_Sachin also got to know of self healing properties of XUV. One fine day, his keyless entry stopped working and when he opened using remote and got into the car, the 'key didn't got detected'.

Finally he got second key from home and managed to reach home. Then in the evening, the first key also started working. The famous XUV self healing. The car in question is a brand new XUV W10 A/T AWD - ala the TOP end variant in the entire Mahindra line up (Rex is Ssang).

Vipul, Unfortunately, my XUV does not seem to have self healing. The light is still there after returning. I have shot a mail to mahindra asking if I should drive the vehicle to their "nearest" service center or not (Which is 160+KM away)

Your car must be under extended warranty as of now as much I can guess. If yes, then ask them to take the car on a flatbed 'free of cost'. Mark my word, the car should be taken on a flatbed only for such a distance.
