Xuv 500 dashboard lights

Hi there

I have a xuv 500 w6 2015 with about 5000km on the clock. Since i got it up to now i have only been happy with this car. It drives great, has enought power and speed to overtake with a rather large load on the tow bar.

I noteced the last 2 mornings that on my dash the antirolback and hill assist lights go on while driving and just stay on. If i turn the vehicle off and back on it goes away but just to return some time later. The dealership told me it is a known problem, but i can not find any other people that has the same problem.

Is it only me with this or is it a known problem? And lastly is there a fix to this problem?

Hi all, issues like seat cover cracking etc aren't technical problems. 2 - 3 yrs of crackfree & good shine is quite a reasonable life for a seat cover. Also, its route cause may be you keep your wallet in ur back pocket while you are seated in car. Just avoid that, things should be better. My neighbours seat covers less than 1yr old are also cracked, due to thesame reason.

Are you driving on Rough Terrain? Ask them to Update the software.
I haven't experienced anything like that yet.

Know problems with XUV are Brakes Noise, clutch Failure, Infotainment Failure, Software bugs, Headlights failures etc.

You may find a lot of details and experiences on my Thunderbolt thread.

Are you using clutch excessively?

I had similar problem, but happened when driving the vehicle for 30 to 40 minutes in slow moving traffic, where the clutch had to be used much. For me (as described in my previous post), the hill hold light turned on first (after 30-40 minutes) and then gear didn't work. Later when started the vehicle after some time, everything was working fine. This happened twice to me on my 2015-Feb model vehicle.

Problem with Left Side.

I have W6, for past few days I am noticing a sound from Left Side tyre. Not sure what it is. when ever I got to workstation, engineer drives fast and apparently that sound is not audible in fast speed and engine roars.

Secondly does any one have an Idea how much does it cost for to get Boot/ Back door with Paint job.

Other day I went to have coffee with my family. It was awesome weather and we thought to enjoy coffee. I gave my Cheetah to valet for parking.

We had nice coffee and left to collect my Cheetah, nice weather and nice coffee turned to be bitter and sour for me. When I saw a patch on my Cheetah Back and rear wiper broken.

On Inquiry, got to know that while reversing Valet hit my cheetah with tree. [anger][cry]

Some how couldn't visit to Mahindra Workshop for repair, on enquiry from the local garage they suggest they will cut the piece and repair the dent, but that will leave behind a scar on cheetah for life long and this will also not be covered in insurance.

For insurance I have to change the door. Wanted to know how much it will cost to replace. Any one have any idea

But the w6 variant doesn't have a hill hold feature right?

that's strange behaviour. never suffered in my xuv but once suffered entire clutch failure in surat traffic.

also, hill hold is flaky at best. you need to double tap brake pedal for it to lock in. still sometimes it does not work and vehicle rolls backwards.

Hi All,
Yesterday (1st November) I experienced a clutch failure in my Xuv500, the clutch went all the way down and refused to come back. I was coming back from Mangalore to Bangalore and was at ghat section, I had still 450kms to reach Bangalore. Immediately pulled the vehicle to the side and reached out to ''with u hamesha" mahindra's Helpline number inquiring whether there are any mahindra service stations near by, but all I got was just the towing truck number since it was a Sunday and those guys told they would reach by midnight, I dint wanted to wait there so I some how managed to pull the gear to neutral and push it to either 3rd o 4th gear. Once the vehicle is pushed into gear the clutch was operative for some 15-20min, later again the clutch would go all the down n I had to manually pull it up wit my toes and use it. Somehow I managed to reach the highway and got a stretch of 300kms highway where I could stay at a constant speed without changing the gear. Reached home late by midnight, thankfully I did not wait for the tow truck to arrive and started from the ghat sections. Currently the vehicle is in my house, before I head to the service center I would want to know whether this issue common in mahindra vehicles, could it be manufacturing defect since this was 1st generation mahindra Xuv bought in 2012. Vehicle odometer reading : 56,856
Please advise on this.

Thanks in Advance
Best Regards,
Sagar.ks

In my opinion, it is high time for us to tweet/post these clutch issues on Mahindra's FB and tweeter with a tweet to Anand Mahindra Sir. This is a serious issue and needs to be addressed on priority. Lets have the official communication from OEM on these issues. Since I am not conversant with the social networking sites so other members may please do it in benefit of all owners.

Dear Akash, I am 100% with you.
I've seen double digit Clutch failures on well known forums. Many more could be un-reported.

The symptoms are exactly same. Clutch pedal goes down and refuses to come up. It means there is definitely a design or quality flaw that the Mahindra has refused to acknowledge.

@BHVM:
Saarji I can sense a case identical to that of Mr. Parate here.

@Sagar:
I would advise you to Move ahead a bit cautiously and before the repair work star, just make it clear that you want to get get it repaired under warranty. In case they deny you an under warranty repair, then ask them for the reason in written.

Thank you all for the suggestions [thumbsup]

@Akash : Completely agree with you, Its high time Mahindra starts looking into this issue. :agree:

@TSIVipul: I guess XUV comes with 3 year warranty, The vehicle was bought in Sept 2012.
Were there any cases in the past where it was repaired under warranty ?

Sagar
