To me XUV 3OO looks atleast in pictures (I haven't seen it in real) a grown KUV1OO more, than a baby 5OO.
Pricing it 7.9 for the 3cylinder petrol from KUV is rediculous, to 12+. People will compare this more to Ford freestyle and NRG, than to breeza Nexon etc.
Expect early discounts from 1st month itself.

Plus one to that. Absurd pricing by mahindra should have priced it on par with nexon and brezza as an introductory price at least.
What's the usp of this car?
Powerful engine, which doesn't seem powerful on road and have turbo lag according to people who have driven it. Sunroof
Top variant is in creta territory and mid variants in brezza nexon territory. Low end variants are not bad but the interior space is too little for a car of this segment.
Just adding another to failed attempts by mahindra in the 4 meter segment.

Well the USP is
1. Safety
2. Smooth Ride and Comfort
3. Wide cabin that can accomodate 3 on back seat
4. Power and Torque
5. Sunroof,tpms,etc

There is no USP that Brezza has when compared with Nexon, but see how much it sells, see India is a market where percpetion looks, style etc matter more than substabce, if one thinks logically a Ford Freestyle offers more than 90% of what almost all compact SUVS offer
A strong petrol and diesel engine
190mm GC
Drives well
Handled well
Has the most important things covered ie SAFETY
Priced extremely well.

But it lacks fancy drls, fancy rear AC vents, fancy interior styling and design, nearly as much boot space as the xuv300, adequate space inside.

Logically it should be an instant hit, but see how pathetically it sells.

What I understand is even though Mahindra has acquired Ssangyong, SSANGYONG still works as an independant brand in lot of countries, meaning, Mahindra might have to give some amount to Ssangyong for branding their Tivoli as Mahindra, also the W8 O variant has almost all features the international model too has meaning minimum cost and variant cutting unlike a lot of other brands who build cars to different standards when it comes to Indian market.

People don't buy maruti because it's better than others in its segment. Resale value, reliability, heard mentality and mileage that's maruti's usp no one can compete with that unless our percapita income increases and resale value ceases to be the most important factor while purchasing.
This car will make creta Base variants look more vfm. Even today people are buying creta Base model and converting it into top variants.
Only hope for this car is to get some customers from nexon which has its top variants below xuv mid variants.
Nexon's engines are equally competent unlike brezzas.
Once maruti introduces it's new engine all will be equal.
This car may have width but cabin space is less length wise, engine bay has taken up all the space. Sad to see mahindra again failing to excite the market.

Well what about
1. Dual ZONE ACC
2. TPMS
3. 4 wheel Disc brakes
4. 7 Airbags
5. Sun Roof

These are features that neither Nexon nor the Brezza has, also there is news coming up that Mahindra is planning AMT launch for XUV 300

Mahindra confirms XUV300 AMT
What I find interesting is that, buying base Creta is not even close to XUV300 whether be it features or power or whatever it may be of concern
Compare Hyundai Creta vs Mahindra XUV300 - CarWale
The comparison is too wide here, if we look at the pricing of cars like Honda City which used to be around 14 lakhs on road for full option, now it stands at around 15.7 lakhs on road, I feel the XUV 300 W6 and W8 variant will be the money makers, the W6 and W8 variant will satisfy majority of users needs, specially Mahindra buyers needs and will eat into the buying decision of many 10-12 lakh Rs car buyers

Of these additional features that you have mentioned only sunroof makes a difference in people's minds and in reality also. Disc brakes or drums what matters is stopping power none of the cars has bad or excellent brakes all have adequate ones. In small car like these dual zones or rear ac doesn't make much difference.
What you have quoted from some site about creta is some vague argument. No one is going to buy xuv top end over creta and city.
Even with 7 airbags xuv won't get 5 star crash rating. If the body can't withstand crash a 100 balloons won't help.

Mahindra XUV300 deliveries begin

Mahindra dealers have started delivering the new XUV300 from the launch date itself. A quick check from a few dealers reveals that most variant and colour configurations selected by customers are readily available. The top-spec W8 (O) variant comes loaded with a number of segment-first features including front parking sensors, heated wing mirrors and seven airbags.

Mahindra XUV300 AMT just a month away from launch

Mahindra is prepping up AMT variants of the just launched XUV300 compact SUV. The AMT variants of the XUV300 will be launched next month, and will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The AMT unit will be a 6 speed unit, designed to work with the existing 6 speed manual gearboxes of the Mahindra XUV300. Introduction of the AMT option on both the petrol and diesel variants of the XUV300 will make the SUV the second in its segment – after the Tata Nexon – to offer such an option on both engine options.

Autoparts maker Ricardo is expected to be the supplier of the AMT unit considering the fact that other Mahindra AMT models also have Ricardo-sourced units. As for pricing, the AMT equipped variants of the Marazzo are likely to be priced about Rs. 50,000-60,000 higher than the manual trims.

Am I the only one, the rear doesnt gel with the front.

I feel the rear lights, if, were rectangular wouldve made the car look much better.
The whole thing doesn't look good but not bad compared to earlier attempts by mahindra.
Quality is also not upto mark for the price they are asking.
My friend who had booked the car is thinking about cancelling the same after price shock and as he was saying we can get much better cars in the 8-14 Lakh range.

Mahindra XUV300 Automatic Caught Testing For The First Time

m97jtupo_mahindra-xuv300-automatic_625x300_15_February_19.jpg

The XUV300 was launched in both petrol and diesel variants which came with a 6-speed manual transmission. When asked the company about the chances of an automatic making its way into the car, it said that a variant was in the works. But we think the launch might be sooner than we think. Carandbike reader, Ashwin Rajwade, spotted the automatic variant of the XUV300 doing the rounds of Mumbai a day after the launch of the car in the country.

Mahindra XUV300 likely to be available in CNG as well

Mahindra is offering the XUV300 in petrol and diesel right from launch, and later, it may offer a CNG option as well. This would make it the first model in its segment available with a bi-fuel option.

Rajan Wadhera, President, Mahindra & Mahindra (Automotive), said that: "CNG may come but it’ll come little later. It’s a natural part of the evolution,” he added. However, the development of this alternative fuel option has not started. Mahindra currently offers a CNG option in the KUV100, but in only the Trip variant that is targeted at the fleet.
