Mahindra has messed up the price and features distribution a big time. Car looks good but is overpriced by a lakh approx and more so for the petrol variants. Petrol W4 misses out on a host of features which Diesel W4 offers. Looks like Mahindra is not interested at selling the petrol variants at all! On top of it except W8, W4 and even W6 miss out on many expected features like-
- push button start
- No touchscreen and Android Auto.
- Not even one touch down. Even my 6lakh otr Tiago has it.
- No tweeters even on W6
- No electronically foldable orvms even in W6! (Must have for such a wide car)
- No alloy wheels on W6 at such a price point.
I think Mahindra has done a KUV again. I can't fathom what logic was put behind the pricing and variants distribution. On top of that ARAI FE is not revealed making us believe how bad it would be especially in its Petrol avatar. Agreed its a good car with good exterior, interiors, features list but still! Tata Nexon xz+ with its pricing, Diesel engine, space and 5 star rating looks by far a better deal.

I personally feel that mahindra did big mistake by making XUV3OO under sub four meter segment due this form boot space is unusable and price is nearly more then 1 lack costlier then competitors but it had more features to agree but if mahindra retained its original lenght of TIVOLI 4.2 M which is based on it will increases the boot space upto 423Liters (current one 250liters) that will make direct stiff competitor to Hyundai CRETA.

Why Hyundai creta is a big hit market because of its aesthetics like rich in features and medium size between breeza and duster.

All in All mahindra once again came up with another flop in market

Of these additional features that you have mentioned only sunroof makes a difference in people's minds and in reality also. Disc brakes or drums what matters is stopping power none of the cars has bad or excellent brakes all have adequate ones. In small car like these dual zones or rear ac doesn't make much difference.
What you have quoted from some site about creta is some vague argument. No one is going to buy xuv top end over creta and city.
Even with 7 airbags xuv won't get 5 star crash rating. If the body can't withstand crash a 100 balloons won't help.
Well, what makes you think the XUV cant hold firm in a crash test ?
Also the website I quoted is Indias most used website for checking on road prices and is easily one of most accurate sites and I know the price of Creta here in my city, so I dont think its wrong, the base Creta is 1.4 and its nearly 14 lakhs on road and the base 1.6 CRDi Creta is nearly a lakh more

Again I am not saying XUV300 is CHEAP and VALUE FOR MONEY, what I am saying is, its a great car, for those who want to think out of the Brezza box this is a superb alternative along with Nexon , in these days, there still exists cars like the new Civic, Octavia , Corolla etc, none is Value for money, but that dosent mean they are bad, specially the Octavia is an insanely good car, but price wise its way over the top pricing compared to Corolla, same way the Elantra does have just a few mm more space inside than a Honda City and the diesel is just a 1.6 no advantage compared to something like Honda City, but the Elantra still makes sense and I really like it, specially the 2.0 Petrol Elantra despite its steep pricing, my point is cars are not always about the price, I feel Mahindra has done a good job with XUV300 , sure pricing could have been lower to attract more audience, but they chose to put it into a competitive edge , just to give the Mahindra sales officers a work out to sell the top variants

I one specific and two general issues:
1) why Mahindra did not re-engineer the chassis to introduce slightly more boot space?

2) When will our Manufacturers stop getting cheap on automatic transmission ? This AMT brigade has gone too far. To the extent that any automatic transmission is generically referred to as AMT.

3) I have a fundamental issue with all the manufacturers adopting the Safety norms that were relevant in the West in the late 90s, ie, Dual Airbags and ABS as standard. Surely, we have come a long way in understanding the fundamentals of automotive safety? Why not mandate 6 airbags and ESP across cars? It may increase the price, but so be it! No automotive buyer in the country lives hand-to-mouth. Or else, incentivise the cost. Some kind of out-of-the-box thinking is required to implement this.

Mahindra XUV300 boot space challenge with empty suitcases – Video

265 litres is plenty of boot space for daily driving cause to be fair, you’re not going to need that much space to ferry stuff to work or back from shopping. Boot space would only be a concern when heading on holiday, subject to how long the vacation is and how many people are on board. A weekend getaway with two suitcases is enough. In this case, you could also head to holiday with 5 empty suitcases by squeezing them into space.

Those are super small sized bags and that too empty. On top of that I think 265L is after removing the parcel tray that is the reason parcel tray is not included. But most of us would like to use parcel tray to save our stuff from prying eyes. Mahindra should admit now that they have created a deal breaker thing in the XUV300 instead of creating useless ads!

I am in look out for a replacement of my Xcent and I was very much interested in XUV 300. Saw the car couple of weeks back in person. As I visited showroom before the price was announced, I was not allowed to test drive. Car looked great, especially from front and rear angle. Side profile will not be of everyones taste. Step inside, trust me it is hard to say if this is a Mahindra car, it was top notch. However, it is not easy to maintain the interiors, infotainment system cluster seems very mediocre and seating comfort was good. Mahindra claims that XUV 300 has the longest wheelbase, but my wife had other ideas, she felt rear to be too congested and felt Xcent to be far superior. Under thigh support is very average for 5.11 but not a deal breaker. The biggest shocker was the boot, even kwid has 300L of boot space and what on earth was Mahindra engineers thinking when they designed this car. I was very disappointed when I saw the boot and till then I was convincing my wife to get this car but after looking at the boot I can't convince myself. Now coming to pricing, I feel Mahindra has over priced this car atleast by a lakh. Top end petrol is close to 14 L in Chennai which is very close to Creta SX Petrol. They claim some segment first features, but practicality matters a lot and XUV 300 doesn't score there. In a nutshell Mahindra has lost a golden opportunity. Now my wait continues for Hyundai Styx.

Honestly speaking, Mahindra SA can't get even more funnier. Mahindra knew their short comings that was the reason they were reluctant to call out the boot number during official launch.

Xuv 300 is perfectly taking the shoes of xuv 500 (although it looks different in my opinion).
Which would be class breaking features (7 airbags, dual zone AC etc). It also has a strong Power to weight ratio which Means driving pleasure will be significant factor just like it's elder bother.
However, it seems to have also taken the same disadvantages such as lack of boot space. Xuv 500 also had negligible boot with all seats up.

I know about the power but I couldn't find anything regarding the weight of the car. Without this we can't calculate.
