Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

I drove Xcent on NH and with A/C, I overtake everything like a racer by just keeping it in right rpm and I didn't even tried hard for that, like I used to. Which means this car is not a slouch @ overtaking as I used to think. And to get to 80km it will take a bit of time, but after that, it gives strong and liner power.

Overall a nice car and I have nothing but praises.

For past 2 days, I have 2 scrapes due to no-road conditions. And I have a minor accident where a biker hit my rear bumper and got few scratches. Everyday I see that tiny scratches and cry inside. It is so hard to drive in a city. Even in village, I feel people drive with some sense.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

For those who complain about Grand/Xcent brakes, here is an incident. I am driving in highway(my daily commute) and suddenly from no-where a dog runs along the road. I hardly have distance to avoid any collision and since no vehicles behind, I thought I can try to brake hard so at least impact will be minimum. Guess what happened, it stopped a few feet before the dig, which was un-believable considering the speed I was coming(around 90kmph).

Not only this, I had few incidents where the brakes helped me as it should be. I don't do any mistakes these days in city cause I get used to the brake and the stopping power it has, is way above my expectations.

Braking wise, I will rate cars in our garage like this
1. Xcent(No ABS)
2. SX4(ABS)
3. XUV(ABS)
4. Figo(No ABS)
5. Xylo(No ABS)
6. Verito(ABS)
7. Alto.... Of course :D

It may sound lot like fanboy post by looking at ranking, but not. I personally driven all these vehicles and this is purely based on my personal opinion. Moreover, my favorite car to drive is still SX4.

That surely hurts,[frustration] the first scratch and dent is very hard to accept on our ride and the glimpse of that surely feels as you do looking at your cars scratches.

^^ Any way to remove that scratch? It is hardly visible for my wife, but me it looks like big one. I can pay if it is not going to cost me more than 3k.

I second your thought !! I feel very confident while applying brakes in my Grand. Last week i was doing 85-90 KMpH on NH9 and suddenly spotted some uneven patch on road. Now just by applying little pressure on brake pad i came straight to 25-30 within few seconds and that too without a jerk.

I guess its all about how one gets accompanied with Grand / Xcent brake system [;)]

^^ It's all about getting used to the braking. Even after me juggling between cars, I still drive safe with my Xcent, whereas my brother get's irritated if he drives Xcent.

The point is, the brakes are not bad as people portray in various sites/forums and may be 1/1000 car may have some issue, but rest assured this is one awesome car.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

Hi All,
I am new to this form. I have booked Hyundai Xcent 1.2 (O) Petrol and I am expecting delivery of my boy next week. I am very excited on laying my hands on him. I was confused between Xcent and Zest and though Zest was a better car from TATA family my first impression with TATA service wasn't the best and I don't want to burn my fingers by a TATA A$$. I hope Xcent is a really good vehicle as many reviews state and I should not regret :) Keeping fingers crossed

^^ You will not regret with Xcent, especially with Petrol. ZEST is VFM but need some time for TATA A.S.S to improve themself. Once improved, for my diesel car, will sure go for ZEST.

You have selected the good variant in Xcent which gives value for money with quality. Mine is also a Hyundai Xcent 1.2 (O) Petrol, 5 months old. Almost 3500kms done. Nice family car for city and highway. comfort rear seats with AC vents are my family members favorite. Brakes are sharp, this model comes with ABS too, Apply it carefully when moving around city to avoid collision with the two Wheeler following your car.

Thanks Furious_diver and ramsan for your kind words :)

Ramsan Yeh it's quite sharp and I have to make sure I get used to the breaks ASAP as previously I was owning an Alto.
