Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

Has anyone tried the OBDII scanner (or whatever they call it)? It might help us a bit. & to be true i am not expecting anything from Hyundai.A friend of mine has a 2012 i20 & the MID is also useless. I guess it display's outside temperature. That is not found in Xcent.

^^ That is also useless IMO. I am planning to try OBD II scanner and there are lot of apps in Play store, which can work with OBD II to give some useful information we need.

Expected Total Damage - 3-5k

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

There are few things I feel unhappy and skeptical about. It might not be an universal one.
1. The tacho and speedo needle still goes off after service guys said they have checked and reconnected the fuses.
2. Burning smell of plastic and at times rubber. They told maybe am using too much clutch while driving, but even after being cautious since then, I feel the odour from the engine bay. No smokes and all. But you know, we don't want to own a gradually burning down components car
3. AC not comfortably cooling
4. No spare bulb with Xcent, SA repeating that

1. No extra bulbs with Xcent, yes that is true.

2. AC is pretty cool (Lot better than my old swift) in my 1.2S(O), 1500kms so far.

3. May be due to some electrical issue, go talk to your Service provider again. This time call hyundai cutomer care and register a complaint before taking your car for checkup.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

Had a trip to my native. And here is the FE calculations.

Total KMS : (One way + City driving) - 532km - (240km highway and rest city driving)
Fuel consumed : 34 ltrs
FE : 15.6km/l
Tyre pressure : 33psi

Am I happy? Yes.
Why? Because apart from 240km highway, most of the trips are short trips(to-fro from mandapam-home which is just 1km) and lot of 1-2km trips. So I am more than satisfied.

And lately I feel that NVH levels are not it used to be. Did someone feel the same way?

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View

^^ I am? I am a sedate driver. Be it city or highway. And while coming back, the mileage in highway is awesome. I am getting around 17.5-18 km/l. So yes, for an petrol car this is good mileage.

BTW I maintained my speeds at 80-100 and occasional 110-120 for overtakes. So 17+ is really good IMO.

Re: Hyundai Xcent S 1.2 - My Daily Commute - Owner's View[EDIT : Short trip experienc

Having seen Grand i10, i can say Hyundai did good job in integrating boot unlike MS. It is not ugly, neither jaw-dropping. Just about right. Minimalistic used of fluidic design is good and i can rate it 4/5. Overall happy with the way it looks. Although, such tiny tires do look bad on Xcent. But i can live with that. Tail lights looks sexy and front lights looks OK.
TBH the boot integration of Xcent looks worse than Tata Indica CS. The taillights looks yuck. The only thing good about Hyundai saloon cars is good looks and even that is missing here.

Front is good looking though.

^^ It is personal opinion. Personally I hate Indigo CS boot and Xcent boot is better than DZire and Amaze. I am pretty much satisfied with my purchase and no regrets at all.

Clocked 5800kms in ODO. Planning to reduce the monthly running. Once monsoon is over, will get a new Bike for my daily commute.

Mileage seems to be improving now.

Hi.. i believe you are using the OBD2 device and successfully managed to get the fuel efficiency from it.. I have purchased the vgate icar2 and had a few doubts about it..

1) anything specific to be entered while setting up the car profile in torque pro? what is the weight you have entered?

2) is the current fuel level a crucial thing in the profile?

3) there are a lot of 'fuel' related displays.. which are the ones that help you to measure the fuel efficiency (realtime?)

please add any other useful tips that would help.. thanks in advance :)

1. 950kg, 43 ltrs fuel capacity, 1197cc. That's more than enough.
2. Nope. You just have to give fuel tank capacity. It will identify fuel level based on this.
3. Realtime is useless. Try like, Total Average, Trip Average etc.

Try to unplug the device if you plan to keep you car idle for more than couple of days. It will drain your battery, although it will take atleast month or less to drain, it is better to remove it when not in use.

Also, if you want to find long time average FE, you have keep the Torque App always in Background. So that, whenever it finds OBD device, it will take previous values and start adding to it.

Thanks for the tips! ive set it up and it seems to be working fine.. the Vgate Icar 2 that I have purchased has an auto power off mode (after 30 mins of car ignition off). So that has its own disadvantages. While it addresses the battery drain problem, i need to switch it on each time i use it. The Map view feature in Torque Pro is real neat!
