Re: My Hyundai Grand i10 Asta (O) Petrol Ownership Review

Its still taking time to write-up my ownership review.
Yes, I am lazy [;)].

So quick recap on my ride

Delivery Experience : Good with Vinayak Hyundai, Tambaram.
KMs done till now : 1170 , will give for first service in a day or 2.

Accessories done : Tire upgrade,3M NOMAD Mat, 3M Paint Sealant, 3M Underbody Coating, 3M PPT, Chrome exhaust (yet to fix), Chrome Sill plate (yet to fix)
Tyre upgrade : Drove straight to GN Tyres, Tambaram from Vinayak Hyundai. Traded each tyre for 3K and got 5 Yoko S Drive 185 /60. Total damage : 8K. I was looking for Yoko Earth, but he convinced me for S drive. It’s been lovely till now. Had a long drive to my hometown this weekend, the handling was so good… was curving in 120 KMPH, felt good in terms of handling. Please remember my last ride was Punto, so I won’t be fully satisfied.

Planned : Armrest, Seat cover, Horn upgrade, Good Components on front and move the front speakers to back, Headlight upgrade (may be as I am ok with the current one, but definitely not great)

Questions :
1) Did anyone upgrade the horn? How did you manage with wire splice without impacting warranty? May be I will check with service center while doing 1st service.
2) Any suitable Armrest available in market?
3) Any good accessories shop for the planned ones? I stay in Urapakam, have done all my setup in Motomall for my Punto. They are expensive, but was worth it. Any other alternatives? Not too far from my place please
4) I synced up my Blackberry, but I feel the call volume output to the speakers are bit low. I have to keep the volume to Max. Is it a widespread observation or its just my phone?
5) When i use the Wiper Wash, the wiper goes off before the water reaches the windshield. Is this the way i10 G works?

Issues :
1) Issue with Hard braking – slight wobble on the tyres.
2) I still fell the Clutch is bit hard compared to my Diesel Punto, compared it again this Weekend, but its hard. May be it needs some adjustment.
3) Boot needs to be closed real hard.

how much does it cost usually and how much would it be if i exchange my 7 month old tyres? What are the advantages of these type of tyres?

2) Any suitable Armrest available in market?

4) I synced up my Blackberry, but I feel the call volume output to the speakers are bit low. I have to keep the volume to Max. Is it a widespread observation or its just my phone?
both the volume in the phone as well as in the audio system on the car needs to be near max levels for louder volume. Did you keep the volume for only the audio system max?

5) When i use the Wiper Wash, the wiper goes off before the water reaches the windshield. Is this the way i10 G works?
yeah, this is the way it works

2) I still fell the Clutch is bit hard compared to my Diesel Punto, compared it again this Weekend, but its hard. May be it needs some adjustment.
the clutch will be softer as you drive more and also after your first service.

Honestly ,i dont think anyone will give you a good amount for 7 months used tyre. I guess each tyre cost is Rs.4400. Your car handling and steering feedback would be much better than 165 shoes. If you use your car regularly on City, then there is no need to upsize your tyre.

4)
Looks same as what i returned back, is there anyone installed it?

No it is not required because there is already a coating(not rubber coating). Moreover if you stay near sea area or too much rains then you could consider it.

Yes you are right, boot needs to be closed real hard otherwise it shows open in MID.
Also the light in boot area is not working sometimes when opening the boot.[anger][frustration]

Hi folks,

Last Sunday I washed my car and notice that few droplets in the fog lamps. Is this a normal behavior because generally I do manual wash and not the machine spray wash.

Just procured the DRL for grand i10. Looks awesome! As bright as the i20's. Will post some night shots later.
The DRLs sure look good. I'm planning to get a pair of those for me. In fact I did come across an online website where these are available. Not sure but seems you have bought your drls from the same place. I would appreciate if you could explain in detail a bit about how did you fit them and the electrical wiring specifically.

You have to get the front bumper removed to access the fog lights. From there it's just a few screws. For the wiring, it's directly connected to battery and ground. An extra wire is provided which needs to be connected to parking light wire. This dims the light when you switch on the parking light.

I have ordered these drl's as well. Hope the arrive soon. I had one other question. When the main headlight is turned on do the drls turn off or on but dimmer?
