Welcome isb4u7701 @ TAI [:D] and congrats for your great purchase.

These days I got habituated to lock the door when I paddle the accelerator but I always feel its importance and necessity.
Can anybody confirm if this feature has been added to new cars?

@Karma : how are you? how about the consumer case? please inform if you have any progress.
Hi dbarma I have confirmed this from my dealer in amritsar and he has told me that they have again added 6 airbags and speed sensing door lock and the price has also not increased but reduced due to duty cut.

It can be also be confirmed from

the 4 speed automatic is good if you are a sedate driver, I felt it could be tuned a tad better. I Was going to buy the auto the 4 speed was a slight turn of but the manual had a smooth clutch and gear shifts which made me skip the auto.
However my feedback is based on the 2012 version I am not aware if they have done any changes on the current ones.

1.diesel(1.6) manual
2.diesel at
3.petrol manual
4.petrol at
also i could hear the thud noise clearly over broken patches although the test vihecle was 2014 model and showed just 800km on odo.

we 2012 owners used to get that noise, Hyundai released a TSB to retorque underchasis bolts to a higher spec after which it disappeared. Check with your dealer about it/ Test drive at another dealer till you are satisfied.

What is a TSB? What is 'retorque underchasis bolts' ? Is it a complicated process ? How long does it take to fix it ? charges ?

Sorry for the bunch of questions. My car is barely 2 months old and this is thud sound is very disturbing. [cry]

TSB- Technical service bulletin. the procedure they remove 4-5 bolts apply grease and then tighten them to a higher spec meaning they tighten it more. Takes about 10 minutes no cost it will be in warranty.
Its good to ask questions, that way no one at the service will bully you when you are knowledgeable. Do start a ownership review and post any queries that you may have as well as a report and your experience with the car.

7 months of ownership review

Car is performing extremely well. ODO is about to cross 5000 km.
Mileage: ~15 kmpl

Issue: Projector behaves at night – here is how?

Bulb: Philips Essential vision.
Drive for about 30-40 minutes at night and the projector refuses to switch to low beam. I have to flick the high/low beam switch 4/5 times to change to low beam. Seems like the separator (high low beam) of the projector housing heats up and become sluggish. I have encountered many times where the right side head light behave first then left side. I haven’t raised this issue at ASS but soon I will. More than me this is annoying for other drivers and I feel really bad about it, sometime I use to switch off the light when after many attempts the light stays at high beam. Do any of you have the similar issue?

One more problem – driving at rough road sometime I hear a tak tak noise somewhere from the steering box. Its like a hard plastic hitting the body but its not so often. Any idea?

I see Nick’s reply and he has great experience in Verna as I too took his advice before buying this car.
According to me Verna is no doubt a good car, every model has +/- issues, Verna has the same. Lots of people still complaining about the thud noise, but believe me I drive very carefully and didn’t get any noise at all in my car. But if it’s a big pothole in speed, then every car should make thud noise and mine does same once.

But what I’ve seen by time it didn’t get much facelift and upgrades comparable to others and now a days it looks a backdated car, for me at least. As its 2014 you can wait a little more for more face lifted car or new models. Also according to me now a days New 2014 Honda city is a great choice. If I got this at the time of my purchase, no doubt I would go for Honda, its best reliable car brand.

What I mean as this market check other updated car also.
