I personally have been using the 12v pressure (link I shared earlier) for some time now. The car cleaning guy doesn't come on Sundays and my usage means the car gets covered with dust on Saturdays. So on Sunday mornings, I take the washer out and give the car a good hosing down. Turning the nozzle produces sufficiently sharp pressure point that you cant hold your hand in the spray, this cleans off all the bird droppings etc. It also cleans off dirt that gets into hard to reach places- wheel arches, logo niches, bumper protector gaps, hinge gaps etc. Interestingly, I found that as compared to the cleaner guy who uses an entire bucket of water, the pressure washer can do the job in half a bucket or less.
Once the car is washed, I just wipe it down with a clean so called "MF"cloth

No. I have given my car for minor services then also they have cleaned it, but not in detail. In your friend's case I think they should've asked before billing.

Vishnu,

at regular scheduled services they will wash the car as well as fix any scratches with rubbing compound. I was told paint touch-up was also included but the didn't do it at Sai Service. If your work is out of schedule, they wont wash unless you tell them to.

Our cars just need to be kept clean on regular basis. Have cleaning guy clean it inside and out it you can do it yourself. Then, once every 6 months or so- meaning when your service is due, have them clean it at the service centre. If you are getting it serviced from a local mechanic, ask around at the petrol pump whether they do it. I believe they charge Rs 300 to 400 for a thorough wash including underbody. They wont do an engine bay clean-up however, that will only be done by the ASS as it requires particular care with the battery and ECU.

If you want to have the interiors thoroughly cleaned, have the ASS do it. I don't think this is available at the pumps. Best to go for carpet and headliner lamination as they just wipe it off.

One way to keep in touch with our cars is to clean them ourselves once a week, there is sufficiect space and soft water. I give a body wash and interior vacuum every week, which takes around 30 - 45 minutes. It helps to burn some calories too (300 - 400 kcal ??). And when you feel extra romantic, a coat of wax as well which would take another 45 minutes or so. [;)]

In my case it takes 2-3 hours just for washing and vaccuming inside. Cleaning the alloys and wheel arch takes the larger chunk of time. After this exercise I will be off to take bath all exhausted as a sweat bag. My family sometimes fears I have OCD seeing my car washing [lol]. Nowadays I get it washed from carwash centers mostly, but I make sure to wash it myself atleast once in a month.

It depends on the dealership as well and sometimes based on your rapport with them.

With Metro Ford in Bangalore, they normally do a free wash even for small issues that are attended.
