Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

Hey gandhi I am a silent reader of your forum and i really like your ashtra and her modification.
I am also planning to buy honda city but I am confused between V and SV variant of the car.
I prefer SV Variant as I can get fog lamps, alloy wheels, chrome handles for aftermarket.
Few points want to discuss with you.

1. Can I get the ICE exchanged from the dealer or is it possible that they take back the ICE and give me money against it because the ICE does not appeal to me.

2. Regarding electrically foldable ORVM, Can I get it as accessory from the agency or should I look for it in aftermarket.

3. In SV variant there are no power sockets with rear AC vents but does it have provision for it or not.

You have mentioned in your message that

I didnt get your point. Can you elaborate.

With regards

Sushant
Hey Sushant,
First of all a hearty welcome to TAI. We are looking forward for more posts and experience by you and we wish you to have a happy stay with us. Well me personally not an Owner of a Honda City but helped my uncle (he has booked City V MT Petrol and waiting for delivery) I hope I can clarify some of your doubts. Well as you have said SV variant is the perfect variant and you get all the bells and whistles with it. If you want push button start, a better player with bit more features, remote locking and fog lamps and electric folding mirrors V variant is useful otherwise SV does fine. Not sure about the ICE part but I suggest you to have your mirrors folded manually. Doing a aftermarket job is surely going to be expensive and reliability will be a doubt as it depends on how the work would be done. And if your mirrors are knocked out well your replacement cost will also be higher. So please rule them out. In the SV rear AC vents and charger is present. No worries buddy. This is the best I could clarify your doubts buddy.

Hi guys,

Have got GoodYear tyres for my new Honda City VXMT GB. The car is still in stockyard. The dealer has given me the option to change with other brand (Bridgestone & Michelin). So guys please give your suggestions & also do tell if Goodyear tyres are worth keeping it?

Regards,

If you are looking to change the tyre, then better upgrade with Michelin XM2 195/60/15.

Shri,

It would be advisable to change your tyres to Michelin XM2 from the dealership at the time of delivery. I had got Good Year tyres on my honda city S MT 2011 model which I bought as pre-owned vehicle. I was totally disappointed with the Good Year tyres. They were making too much noise on highways at >80 KMPH speed. Ride comfort was also very bad. I had changed them with Michelin XM2 and at the same time I have upgraded the size with 195/60/R15. I am very much happy with Michelin XM2 and size upgrade. Michelin is pretty much silent compared to Good Year even if >100 KMPH on highways. Ride quality improved significantly. Tyres performed very well while raining also. Even if I have upgraded the size, I have not observed any loss in the mileage (KMPL) due to low rolling resistance of Michelin XM2.

Thanks Mr. Gandhi. But do you have any more details about Goodyear tyres??
Hey Shri,
Suggest you not to go for Good year tyres and please get them swapped immediately. Well my experience around 10 years bacj when I changed Good year tyres in my Indica the tyre punctured 6 times on its very first day. The tyre shop owner did us a good deed by replacing that tyre to another good year of course and that was the last time I used them. Bridgestone or Michelin are good choices and try getting them upsized for your City.

Hi Guys,

Totally new to forums itself. I have booked a Honda City VX - IVTEC. Just was looking for some help around. As far as tyres as all suggest Michelin 195/60/15, so will try to upgrade to the same. Can anyone tell me if they had installed GPS and do the touchscreen available support GPS and voice commands. Also anyone changed the alloys?

Your insight will be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Justin
