Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

Hi Guys,

Totally new to forums itself. I have booked a Honda City VX - IVTEC. Just was looking for some help around. As far as tyres as all suggest Michelin 195/60/15, so will try to upgrade to the same. Can anyone tell me if they had installed GPS and do the touchscreen available support GPS and voice commands. Also anyone changed the alloys?

Your insight will be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Justin
Hi Justin,
Hearty welcome to TAI and wishing you a happy stay up here.
Regarding your GPS part, Honda City's stock system is not touch screen and does not support GPS. Regarding Alloys you can look at this linkhttp://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/accessories-modifications/18055-all-new-honda-city-2014-accessories-modifications-3.html
I hope this has answered your question. Congrats for your Honda City and wishing you happy miles in it and waiting for your owner ship thread[clap].

Welcome Shri. I don't have much details about the Goodyear tyres. You may look the Below thread for more information on tyres.
Car Tyre Brands and reviews
Thanks for the Link Mr. Gandhi. It gave me a brief knowledge of all brands of tyres.

Shri,

It would be advisable to change your tyres to Michelin XM2 from the dealership at the time of delivery. I had got Good Year tyres on my honda city S MT 2011 model which I bought as pre-owned vehicle. I was totally disappointed with the Good Year tyres. They were making too much noise on highways at >80 KMPH speed. Ride comfort was also very bad. I had changed them with Michelin XM2 and at the same time I have upgraded the size with 195/60/R15. I am very much happy with Michelin XM2 and size upgrade. Michelin is pretty much silent compared to Good Year even if >100 KMPH on highways. Ride quality improved significantly. Tyres performed very well while raining also. Even if I have upgraded the size, I have not observed any loss in the mileage (KMPL) due to low rolling resistance of Michelin XM2.
Mr. Bhavesh, thanks for your valuable piece of advice. I would definitely try to switch to Michelin ASAP. [thumbsup]

Congrats Karthikeyan. A mission accomplished [;)]. It's definitely needs a celebration [clap]. You are lucky enough to get a Michelin Energy, and maintain the same tyre. Upgrade once the current Michelin is worn out.

Congrats for your new City Karthikeyan. Waiting for pics and ownership thread. By the way at first suggest you to keep 175/60 and see whether you are satisfied with them. If not then upgrade. That's what my uncle is going to do when gets his City.

Well I truly agree with you. Its a risk which you are going to take but there owners who are satisfied with 175/60. So its your call.

Hey Shri,
Suggest you not to go for Good year tyres and please get them swapped immediately. Well my experience around 10 years bacj when I changed Good year tyres in my Indica the tyre punctured 6 times on its very first day. The tyre shop owner did us a good deed by replacing that tyre to another good year of course and that was the last time I used them. Bridgestone or Michelin are good choices and try getting them upsized for your City.
Mr. Anuruthan, most of the bloggers gave me Goodyears review similar to yours. Thanks for sharing your experience & now I'm looking forward to get my Goodyear swapped with Bridgestone or Michelin.
Thanks for the help.[:)

Congratulations on your upgrade Karthikeyan. [clap] Please post your review regarding your new tire performance after running of few hundreds KMs. Primacy 3ST is more premium than XM2. So it would be good to have review so one can decide over XM2 and Primacy 3ST.

Have you upgraded 4 or 5 tires? For longer life of tires, I would suggest regular wheel balancing & alignment with 5 tire rotation (if all your 5 tires are same otherwise 4 tire rotation) every time when you do wheel alignment.

Dear Gandhi Sir,

I have been a silent reader on the Forum and your upgrades[:)]. Those beautiful narrations about your "Ashtra" Inspired me to end up in deciding to go for My 'Maxx' HONDA CITY IDTECH VX... I took him home on March 4th 2015 same day as Mr Karthikeyans..
As a start for the Upgrades, I changed the stock 'Goodyear' tyre to 'Michelin Primacy 3ST 195/60R15'. After the upgrade the Handling has improved really well and its butter smooth ride[:D].
Now, Maxx has crossed 2800kms, finishing his first free service at 968kms.
Till now the best mileage he gave is 22kmpl at a tank full to tankful test on our journey from Chennai to Erode[clap].
Awaiting to do the Headlamp upgrades as yours and other awesome updates too.

Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

Hi,

I planned to change my existing car that's the Honda City ZX from all the consideration of Vento and Verna I had to fall back on the New Honda City as my choice. I planned to take the VX MT version having decided all this I am stuck at a point between Diesel and Petrol.

The stats as per my last car usage was 54000 kms in 6 years which is translated to 750 kms in a month (averaged) which I expect to go up another 1000 to 1100 month which makes it 1750 (very month) as my office trips will by itself make it 55kms * 22 days. Let me assume that I would be doing 1500+ kilometers in a month

So now I wanted to know the mileage of the.

Honda City Petrol (Tank to Tank) in City and Highway !

Honda City Diesel (Tank to Tank) in City and Highway !

Would appreciate if someone could help me with that data.

Thanks in Advance.
