Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

they already gave my VIN no last week .. it is a real delay in temp registration :( Now the dealer is hopeful about a delivery by this weekend .. lets see .. he says that I can drive the car around with the temp registration for a week or so, before registering in Pondy again .. will that work ?? will any traffic police in chennai/pondy create trouble ?
That's the good news [clap]. You can drive with temp registration in Chennai/Pondy for a week. I hope there will not be any issues.

But the registration process will get complete in a day. Just take the help from Pondy capital Honda and be tension free.[glasses]

The New Avatar of Vasantha Ashtra - Wrapped Front Grill

Full thick chrome front grill is not impressing me and I want to change the grill.

Stock Grill: On my dark Golden Brown City, the thick Chrome line (Front Grill+Head lights)

Stock Grill after Projector Head Lights:
The look of stock thick chrome grill is too dominant after I blackened the low beam section while installing the projector head lights.

As it was too dominant, I didn't like the look of the front grill. I planned to change it.
Option 1: OEM Modulo Front grill. The grill is not VFM. Again its Chrome may be dominant.

Option 2: Purchase the lower variant plant grill and paint it with the Body colour from Honda ASS. I felt this also not VFM.

Option 3: Planned Do the DIY of plasti DIP of Chrome grill. I could not find the matching brown color plasti DIP can for City. Finally decided to go for plasti DIP in black.

During this time, our Member Surendar from Pondy shared his City which has black colour wrapped front grill. After discussing, I found wrapping his cost effective and easily reversible without major issues.

Planned to wrap the black color. Now the question is Shiny Black or Matt Black?

Decided to go with Matt finish Black color wrap after a poll result in TN TAIger group.

Now my City has black color grill. Looks good.

The devil[evil] mind worked here, Now the "H" goes into Red.
6.jpg
Black Grill with Red "H" Logo. Mouth Watering.

The one more upgrade. Bring the "Honda Grace" look on my Ashtra. Use the red to match my projector Lights Demon Eye.
7.jpg
Black Grill with Red "H logo with Red Underlining. Looks SPORTY.

Which is your favorite?

Bro, In the case of quality Michelin is one of the best set of tyres to upgrade bro. But all these depends on the compound of the tyre and the exact type of tyre you are looking for. Well if you have the 3rd gen or 4th gen I would suggest you to increase the section from 175 to 195 and go for all weather tyres. These will do good deeds for your car.

Thank you aniruthan. Made a payment for my vmt red but I will get delivery on wednesday dont know why it takes so long. This weekend will surely try to check tyre options. Mine has come with bridgestone so was just thinking wether to change it with michelin or not. Never thot of upgrading to 195 section because of hike in price. Already it was out of my budget and than this hike and honda dont give any freebees..

Have you changed to 195 section bro? If yes then how much it cost. And any advice for 3M Care. Is it necessary to do with new car or els its ok if we do it after a year or two ?

Wow! the Matt black wrap looks good with the H logo, you should have also done the rectangular chrome surrounding the H in red both in a bit darker and deeper shade of red. You also did the bar just below the chrome grill in red, well it takes away the class factor out of City's looks.
Contrary to popular opinion, I like the chrome grill on the new City. The Thick grill gives it a leader-kind of look.. something like it is proud of and is smiling!! Silly me!!

Gandhi, wrapping looks best without the red liner or red Honda logo. I also want to do the same now. But my vehicle is yet to be delivered. It has got stuck at Trichy. Capital Honda has messed it up completely. The Trichy RTO is now refusing to do the TEMP reg, it seems :(

I filed a complaint with Honda and they are useless thus far. I am trying to co-ordinate with an AGM in Capital Honda to get this through.

Gandhi ji, Matte black grill looks damn awesome. It definitely makes your City look like a devil. HaVe seen Surrendar jis City. This one looks much more mean and devil[clap]. No doubt helped by the golden brown colour.

Mudassir bro,I don't own a City but most of the owners upgrade to 195 section. Michelin tyres are one of the best in quality. Uncke booked a golden brown City V MT. I told him also about the disadvantage of narrow tyres but told him to drive with stock till the first replacement and then upgrade. He's a sedate driver anyways maintaining controlled speeds. My bro got a third gen City but he has till date not upgraded the tyre size as he felt it adequate . He has changed to Michelin all weather tyres and quality is too good. Road noise is well under control too[glasses].

I haven't replaced till now. I will do it in first replacement. Quoting from my Ownership thread.
I received the Bridgestone tyres as stock tyres. I was too much worried to get MRF & Goodyear about the noise and rolling resistance. I approached Michelin in Pondicherry to replace the tyres on buy back basis. But Michelin dealer don’t take it on buy back basis. I have not got enough time to do check in Pondicherry.
Dealers were not support for tyre upgrades both in Pondicherry & Hyderabad. I may have warranty issues in future if I replace the tyres. As a beginner I don’t want to take risk now. So I decided to continue with Bridgestone tyres. Bridgestone is rated 2nd best tyre to use as per the below thread.

Thanks guys for your feedback. The new avatar is just a start to have a different look. Surprisingly, the red logo with red line in bottom was liked by most of the people in Honda City Fanclub India in Facebook. Several other people liked the look combined with Red in TN TAIger Whatsapp group. I will try out other options for next time.

Oh No. It's bad. Then call the Capital Honda, Chennai, they might help you in any other way.
