Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

I got it almost after 30 days. But some others getting it earlier also. I have ordered one more set of same product earlier. Still not yet received.[frustration]
I got it today. Almost after 50 days.

I raised a dispute today morning after waiting so much and in afternoon I got it. So, cancelled dispute and confirmed receipt.

50 days is too much but it finally arrived.

Seriously, It was huge big waiting period. At times we forget the product which we ordered in Ali Express. Some times I started searching the product in Snapdeal, Ebay without remembering the order which I gave to Ali express.

Quality seems to be good.

I have yet not installed it. The tape is 3M. I don't know original 3M or not but even if it is not original 3M tape, it's ok, I have a roll of 3M double side tape. [evil]

I have kept the pen in the pictures to give an idea about the size to other forum members.

3rd Service Report

Ashtra has completed her 10000KM mark. It's a time for 3rd service.

Issues Reported: Dash board rattling in left side & right side which has started a week back.

3rd service & dash board rattling were corrected after the 3rd service. 3rd service which is including oil & oil filter replacement. Tyre rotation, wheel balancing were completed. Attached the bills for your reference. Oil bill was separate.

As per service manager, these rattling issues were there in City 2014. Once corrected will not immediately, but it will repeat after some time. Need to change the driving style on potholed road and unidentified speed breakers.

These issue will be corrected for free if it repeats as long as warranty period. Thanks to my instinct that I tool extended warranty. After the warranty period, this correction will demand charges. As per service manager comment, Honda is improving on the rattling as the recent manufactured lot is not reporting the rattling issues.

Honda City i-DTEC Engine Clogging.

Honda City diesel Engine clogging issue were reported by some of the City owners based of the below thread. But, I drove my City during heavy rains and pool water will be present during monsoon days in front of our apartment which I need to cross on daily basis. I didn't face this issue.

During my second service, I checked with Honda Service Manager during my visit to Honda Service Manager. I asked the manager to check my City (Mfg:July 2014) and show the air intake place and also show the part in Honda Amaze.

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/technical-zone/18744-caution-honda-amaze-city-idtec-engine-clogging.html

Then Honda Service Manager explained, this engine clogging problems were found mostly in Honda Amaze Diesel Engines. And not in Honda City. They doing some modification in Honda Amaze diesel in air intake pipe.

Still some of the people get confused about this issue, so I came up with this post.

1.jpg
Service Manger shown me the Air intake pipe line route to me. In the above pic, I shown the air pipe in reverse direction. From engine to Air Filter unit to Air inlet portion.

In above pic, the finger points the air intake position. The Air intake pipe was positioned below this plate (may be gap of 15mm, you car insert your finger to check the opening of the pipe). The plate is provided to avoid any water ingress from top of the top.

So the air intake pipe was not positioned to suck the air from the floor level. It assures that water can't enter the air intake from the floor level.

Position on Honda Amaze Diesel:

Door Sill Plates

When I searched for sill plates I found illuminated and normal simple SS Sill plates. I have selected the normal SS sill plates to avoid electrical wiring connection and my daughter literally steps on the sill plate to get inside the car.

Cost of the Sill Plate: Rs 1100/-

From above first image, looks like you have done floor lamination.
Can you share more information on it ?

How's the reverse camera during night time ? Is visibility good with sufficient backlight ? I am thinking of fitting Touch Screen AVN that Honda has offered for 40k with all functions in case I get SV. If its V then nothing extra will be fitted.

What is the make nishant? 40k seems to be high. I have read in other review that Blaupunkt san diego 530 is one to one replacement and cost is about 30k in market.

Its Motevo. Comes with all functions & it comes in 2 versions one with GPS & without GPS. Its around 32-38k. It looks good, but should see if it serves the purpose well. Just because I have to pay around 50k less if I get SV version i was thinking about this one.

Jigar, Yes I have done floor lamination. I will share the details in my future posts.

The camera visibility during night is really good. The illumination by the reversing (Rear Fog) lights was good at stock condition.

AFAIK, Honda dealers installing various different AVN installation. But if we go after market, we get it cheaper price. But installing at dealership will keep us safe from warranty issues.

If you get SV, spend your additional 50K on alloy wheels, fog lamps, headlamp upgrade and reverse camera/ sensor.

Nishant, When you said in-dash AVN, I sensed some issue but I could not remember. The Stock HU visibility is not at all good when I was driving (between 11am to 1pm). So check the AVN visibility during these time.

Re: Vasantha Ashtra – Honda City i-Dtec 2014 – Golden Brown

Dear Gandhi,

I am also getting a Golden Brown SV MT diesel model from Pondy in Jan 2015. Should I opt for a bumper-to-bumper insurance plan ? Is it worth the extra cost of around 7k ?
They are asking a TEMP registration charge of 6k, as they are getting the vehicle from Chennai. Kindly advise, what can be done.

Thanks
Karthikeyan

Congrats Karthikeyan on your booking Honda City. Better to opt for Zero depreciation Bumper to Bumper insurance (may be from Honda Assure). I hav opted for B2B insurance only. I had an accident on my vehicle which is not given major damage to my pocket. For more details check this link from my ownership review.

Normal Insurance some of the plastic parts will not be covered. But in B2B, everything is covered, it's give us the peace of mind.

I'm getting confused here. Can you clarify my some of the doubts?
1. Your current location (From your profile I understand, you are from chennai. Then why you want to take a delivery from Pondy?)
2. If you want to take delivery from Pondicherry to reduce some taxes, then why you are looking for temp registration?
3. If Capital Honda Pondy is getting a vehicle from their Chennai branch means it's a internal transfer between their company. We need not to pay for Temp. Registration?
