@ajay - yes, on page 129 of the manual, it says "The clutch pedal must be fully depressed to start the engine".

But the car starts even without pressing the clutch. Furthermore I have even managed to crank the engine accidentally while gear was in reverse.
Yes i know that , but if it is advised by Honda then is better we follow the procedure , i am following this procedure , just to make it a habit and avoid any problems , since i am not planning to change this car for next 5 years [clap]

What you people generally do to protect RATS entering the hood.
Please head on to this link for useful information: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...322-how-prevent-rats-entering-inside-car.html.

Is there any reason why Honda says to press the clutch when starting the engine even when in neutral gear? The car starts even without pressing it, so just wondering...thanks.
There’s an interesting discussion going on this topic too: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/technical-zone/6174-how-start-petrol-engine.html.

I don't think there is any need to press clutch or brake pedal or engage handbrake when starting the car. If the car is in N gear and on a flat surface merely turning the key in ignition is enough to start the car.

I think the reason why pressing the clutch is advised is because many times we tend to leave the car in 1st gear while starting it so pressing the clutch will ensure that the car starts even in 1st gear (not pressing the clutch when starting in gear gives the car a jerk and the car doesnt start).

Not sure about why brake pedal needs to be pressed, but i guess it is advised since the car may be on a slight slope n not pressing the brake may cause the car to start rolling.

Though both these things are not mandatory, however the user manual of a car manufacturer will always advice you to follow the best practices for your car [:)]

OK guys. So here comes the first scratch on my Brio. Have no idea who did it. Was in a good condition till yesterday morning, I return back home after work on my 2 wheeler and find this huge deep scratch under the fog lamps. It has taken the paint with it. I am waiting to get my hands on that @@#!%^& who has done this.

I am also facing the same issue. Once i literally had to push the gear shaft so hard that i was worried i would damage it, but had no option since i was in the middle of the road and had to take a turn.

I thought this may be because my car is new and hasn't done much kms (only 1000 kms, 2nd service is due in October) and over the next few months the gears would become smooth automatically, but still the 2 to 1 shift seems a bit hard. During the first service, I informed the ASS about it and they replied that the car gearbox is built in such a manner that if you do not have the right speed to shift from 2 to 1, the gear will not fall in place. I personally haven't found this explanation satisfactory and will raise it again in the 2nd service which is due due.

My Service enginer asked me which car i was driving before i brought Brio ., i said my friends Beat and then he said ohh sir Beat Gears are different you can change gears in Beat even in half clutch but in Brio you have to engage full clutch and he told he has checked gear lubricants and all and every thing is fine .

But even in full clutch mode Gears are stiff , i am gonna ask my expert friend to check it out now

Spray paint and touch ups will not work well , you can go for Half Bumper Painting , Honda quoted me 2500 for Half Bumper painting for my Front section .

Yes I feel gear is little still stiff, particularly for 1st and 2nd shifts, even after 11 months of ownership, but stiffness has reduced a lot. I guess it depends on usage; more you use lesser will be the stiffness, this is my observation.

Thanks for the info brother but I have planned to go with corner bumper protectors instead. Have been quoted 1600/- for a set of 4 from the honda dealer here. This will cover the strain and protect its occurance in future too. So felt it was a better option. [:)]
