Re: DIY Hood Damping

Wow Vishnu!
You're a DIY Nut just like me. I regret for being late into the thread, but your Review and Mods on the amaze are nothing sort of Amaze-Ing!
Do Let me know if you need a helping hand (or err...mind) Somewhere. Always happy to help.

And yes, do check out my Thunderbolt XUV and Blueboy i10 Threads and do comment on Mods and stuff!
Thank you. Sure, i'll check it out :)
Hi All

An almost 3 months of car survey finally came to an end on 30th December when I picked up my Honda Amaze Diesel SMT variant.
From Zest to Xcent to Ecosport to i20 everything was considered as new car buyer would do. But considering I have a Honda city I know all about the quality of Honda Brand...

Anyways lot has been written about the engine noise. I have a November manufactured Amaze and trust me the sound levels have remarkably gone down. Even the vibration is very less. I was preparing my parents ( who are against diesel cars) to the diesel noise in amaze and that they sholuldn't be critical of it as I have kept that in mind while doing this purchase. To my shock and to their pleasure the noise was just not like the old amaze.

For those who are planning to buy in Jan the easiest way to identify the new car ( besides VIN ) is to just check the speedometer. It will be White illumination. Older one is with amber red illumination.

I am not sure if the sales dent made by Zest will be recovered but at least this reduced engine noise has led to become a customers delight for me.
Happy to hear positive news on the NVH.

Can you please post some pictures showing the changes ?

Hi Vishnu and all !

Happy New Year to all !

10 days back i have bought Honda Amaze SMT Disel and your review and ownership experience helped a lot in my buying decision.

I have also November manufactured car and indeed i can't feel the noise in the cabin as much and no vibrations .Driven 500 KM till now and over all mileage of 22 KM/Liter with mix of highway and bumper to bumper traffic .Over all very happy with it.
Congratulations. Drive safe !

any pics r videos would b gr8..i have bought sony XS GTF10382 speaker for rear
How is the speaker performing ?

Finally after reading all the threads i fitted my rear speakers in 20 mins...thanks you...loving DIY
Happy that my DIY helped you. ! Congrats for exploring unexplored [;)]

That product was removed . There are some other products like it. I don't think you need those since there is a noticeable change in the NVH,though if you wish i could help you in finding some damp mats.

Re: DIY Door Sills

Unscrew the Door Sensor as we are connecting the door sills to the sensors

Hi Vishnu,

Thinking of doing the Door LED Suff plates Mod.

However confused as to what you did near the sensors. [frustration]
I dont see anything mentioned that you connected some wires there. [roll]

They have done some changes inside the engine itself to bring down the NVH. It is practically possible to bring down the noise by changing to new engine, but it will cost you a bomb[evil]

Did a quick drive to Chennai and see what i got

Yes , it is [:D]

I have tried 3M too with my friend's vehicle and i was not satisfied with the output.
Moreover these pics where taken back on my way from Chennai , and if it looks stunning to you still, imagine how beautiful it looks once washed and clean[;)]

Yes 22" and 15" are the stock size.
Bosch is better.
I'm using frame less.

This is know as Smartwax. One of my closest friend is the Dealer for these products in Trivandrum. Products used are from chemical guys. You can Google about them, US based[:)]
how much did it cost ?
almost around 7k for normal basic one, I've gone for 3 extra add-ons, so around 10k range .

you did it on your own ? how much time it took ?
No , professionals do the work.
3 Days needed to do the work.
Whole vehicle is being washed down, Uses a Clay to clean up the dust in the clear coat, that itself is a huge time consuming work.
Then they start's their way of works and steps which i don't know exactly to educate you, hence skipping off:tongue:
The whole interior is being cleaned up, conditioner's are being appiled.
Engine bay, door joint, alloys, tyres, and the nomenclature badges too are being cleaned up.Pretty impressive right ?[:D]
and hence you get the final output.
The output is so visible that my blue looks much more vibrant when next to a brand new amaze.
I'm very much happy !!

Something unusual I have been noticing since the 10k service when the oil was changed. When engine is hot (run for about 3 to 5 kms), the engine note becomes loud only when at idle. I can prominently hear it say when i stop at red light. Not sure if I can explain it in words but the noise is similar as if there was a small hole in silencer. It's the engine note that changes so definitely it's coming from engine.
I am planning to show it to the ASS tomorrow. Wanted to know from fellow Amaze IDTECH owners on forum if anyone else has experienced this?
