Dear friends ,

I got my Honda Amaze iDtec VX-MT on 4/4/2014 :)
have taken 2 test drives before. I should say both had some cabin noise & engine noise. But both models were 2013 i guess.
So here is good news. I'm no sure if this is true only with my car. But i personally believe Honda have done something listening to customers.May be they re-tuned the engine.
I usually travel in a new as well as bit old Innova. So i can say with confidence that my amaze doesn't have much sound inside.I checked it with my friends & our Innova car's driver.Engine feels more refined than the test driven cars.To check the cabin noise i switched On & OFF stereo. What ever noise is there is very negligible. We had a 150Km ride one side.Todal 300Km. I should say other than the bad MRF tyre noise , there was no NVH to much complain about. Only issue i had is with gear shifting. It wasn't as buttery as test driven cars. I believe after some 5k KM or so it will get smooth.

Just yesterday only took the test drive of the both Diesel and the Petrol version of Amaze, I must say it's an really Amazing car, very impressed with the ride quality and the handling of the car. Diesel version felt more powerful as it's 1.5L i-Dtec engine but Petrol version is also not far behind. What bothers me is that the petrol version of the Amaze was having rattling noise from the driver side A-pillar and right side of the dashboard, near the speedometer. [frustration] Apart from the rattling noise I really liked the car. [clap]

Three months and My Amaze SMT I-Dtech is due for its second service. Problems faced so far:
1. Rattling noise form the right A-Pillar
2. The music player does not support all pen drives, where as the same pen drive works fine on my Toyota Innova
3. The engine NVH levels in the cabin have increased. Sitting in the front driver seat (when my brother is driving) sometimes it feels like I am travelling in an old state transport bus
4. When the engine is hot, the car vibrates like hell with a sudden jerk when you turn on/off the engine
5. When i turn off the engine, I get a crackling sound somewhere under the battery; something like a broken/loose mounting

I am not sure if many people are facing these issues or I am the only one, but it definitely makes me doubt about the Honda quality

1. Check this out.
A-pillar fixing.
2.Haven't had any kind of similar issues yet. Tried many kind's of pen drive's. Everything worked perfectly. What did the service centre guys said ?
3.The NVH will settle for sure once after the first engine oil change.I felt so and if interested you can go for the Damping, to keep the noise less.I've done on my hood and four doors .
4.Never experienced anything strange till now.
5.Open your hood and try that again. if you spot any sparks or something rush to your service centre.

That's a great relief[clap] The engine for sure will get much more smoother once it start fetching km's. Believe me[;)]

I would say better don't break up your head after test driving a demo car. I can assure you all ; my car as no such problems. Every car will have some problems.
I was a huge fan of i20 since Honda Jazz Diesel is still not available. But i hate the steering of i20. Trust me you will love Amaze if you stop worrying & complaining about small issues. The problem is we have higher expectations from Honda.I personally believe this is the best car you can buy in this segment if we just forget about Bluetooth & such things.I can assure min ha almost negligible noise. Only thing one should keep in mind is even if you can drive this car at 140km/h or above ( which i haven't tried yet) , this car is not for abuse.
If you put peddle hard as if like a racing car, you are likely to hear some engine noise.Put it slow & steady , you will get mileage + power + very smooth drive.
I will write a detail review later. [:)]

Congratulations for your New Ride [:D]. Good to know that Honda has listened
and provided a better NVH in newer car. Please keep posting about the experience and reviews it will surely help the prospecting buyers.
Thank you so much. I honestly believe Honda has done something. I will try my best for a detailed review. But this car feels fully under your command while driven in city or NH. In NH there was bit of a traffic @ Alappuzha ...Those who now that route knows how its like ; especially at night.
I could drive @4th gear , just playing with the clutch & brakes only , no accelerator required & car stay is in "ECO".
Im getting an average of 18Kmpl with full AC, 3-4 people in city + NH mostly in heavy to moderate traffic.Even with full AC , car easily climbs up steeps & doe overtake well. Many other car i usually travel have to switch off AC in same conditions.

Vishnu, Kindly suggest which 3M tape model you have used for dashboard and price as well. Wooden panel is very costly. Honda is charging Rs. 9000/- for the same.....

That's what impressed me too. Torque[evil]

Throw a pair of alloys too. That'll make it complete.

I have driven my idtec vxmt at 150 and felt it could go a bit more but was scared I would run out of road .
Sadly, for the diesel engines, Revv limiter hits at 150 and cuts the speed . Hence even we feel the car could go further, when it hit's revv limiter, the fuel cuts off

Hi I am planning to buy Honda Amaze SMT IDTEC. NVH level has really reduced in new 2014 model as compare to 2013 model?
That's what all the people who Test drive the 2014 vehicle saying. May be they've done some additional damping.

I hardly remember it's model name. But i think it was 3M 1080 wrap. 3M wrap won't do any good, Mine came off and hence painted the dash[evil]

Hi all

Feel so happy to join the forum. I got my Honda amaze idtec delivered on 5th apri 2014. Waiting period was less than two weeks n i got my desired colour too(urban titanium). The machine still amazes me with its power and looks. Have done 800 kms so far and only once in highways but the average fuel consumption shows 23.8 km/l which is great figures . Am also totally impressed of how great its torque is esp in the 2nd gear . just have to release clutch and no need to use accelerator in heavy traffic.

Overall am pretty pleased buying amaze after a months reseach. Will write a detailed review with pics pretty soon..

p.s : when i test drove one of the amaze diesel variant i was so disappointed with nvh levels.. But the manager explained since the test drive vehicle is a 2013 model its more noisier. He promised the 2014 models comes with much lesser noise and better interiors(beige with black) . True that .. My amaze is almost silent in idling and only slightly noisier in motion( just like any other diesel engines) . I believe this part is rectified by Honda .[;)][glasses][clap]

Super I had a similar experience too with the TD vehicle . it was a 2013 model they said I have driven my amaze almost 900 kms . so far absolute difference in noise levels from TD vehicle that I drove . your post also confirms that Honda has done something to rectify . maybe better insulation

My only concern as of now is gear box . its so tight Hoping it would get smooth sooner am also getting used to 2 and gear auto acceleration sometimes in traffic it kinda zips off really fast as soon as I release clutch
