Got My Pearl White Tata Nano

Hi. I couldn't get a picture but the connection is as I had stated before. Cigarette lighter socket wires go into the white plug only. Nothing in the black plug.

I am Nano'ed.! :D

Got the delivery of Nano today. I paid 1,67,000 INR for LX model including Insurance, excluding the RTO. It was a DEC 2011 manufactured model so I got a huge discount of 50,000 INR. As usual I was ready to face issues and have got them painted right on my face from the word go.
1) The clutch feels like it engages only after 3/4th travel, I guess the clutch cable is loose.

2) Some metal resonating noise at fixed rpm in every gear.

3) The car took 4-5 hicc-ups when after I got the delivery like there was no Petrol, it was the case indeed, filled-up 6 ltrs of fuel and still got the hicc-ups 3-4 times. After that they have'nt reappeared.

4) The car had 77 Kms on the odo, the dealer has godown 16 kms away and the car travelled there quiet a few no. of times as the new 2012 model was launched in the early Dec.

5) I have yet to take the AMC, will visit the TASS tomorrow to get it. Any suggestions?

6) Any suggestions on how to drive during run-in, especially for Nano?

7) The RHS RV mirror is damn tight to operate.

8) The passenger side front seat does'nt fully recline, Is it a issue or a feature?

Many congratulations! Issues you have seem minor which the Service Centre will sort out.

About running in, just follow the recommended speeds until the first service. That's all.

Thanks! I also wanted to clear a few points that the PDI was not done as it should be at all. The windshield washer tank was empty, the washer nozzle is out of alignment, the battery terminals were loose. The tyres had 15 psi all round. I think that when the dealer called me today afternoon that the car will be ready by 6:00 PM evening, I forced him for a 3:00 PM delivery and to make that possible he skipped the PDI. The battery, tyre pressure and washer tank issue is solved now. The music system question still waits for the answer.

Questions for you:

1) The passenger side seat does'nt recline fully?
2) Which music system, I think now someone will kill me if I ask this again in any thread, already I have asked this question umpteen times.

The seat reclines fully, I suppose.

About the music system, please see my original post. I fit the JVC X50BT.

Both seats reclines in LX.

I have fitted pio HU and all JBL speakers.
Tou can see pics on prev. Pages.

You can ask anything here, dont be shy ;-)
Drive your baby within speed limit of every gear all the time and you'll get best millage and smooth ride.

Do check all things right as it seems you have many problem in your ride.
mirrors are pretty smooth, odo 77km is fine.

but make sure it must have instrument cluster replacement. as tata has replaced it in all 2012 nano

But why? Is there any problem with the 2011 Nano Instrument Cluster?
your make is dec 2011 means it should be a 2012 nano.
if its 2012 nano, then tata has replaced all 2012 nano's instrument cluster because of some faulty display. i think you should ask your dealer wether its replaced or not. if its not replaced yet then ask him for replacement for free of cost.

and if its already replaced, then you should worry, because due to that replacement, ODO of all car comes to 0000 KM again. so your 70KM should be in new inst. cluster, and you don't know the rolling of old ODO ![roll]

done 210 KM trip from vadodara to sardar sarovar dam yesterday.

The dam was overflowing on its record level with about 7 meter overflow. and there are usually about 15K to 40K people in weekends, so we suddenly planned the trip @ 12:30 afternoon, and leave @ 1:30 PM [;)]

we were 5 adults and 1 kid on board.
the DAM is huge in the sense of size and electricity generation.

here are some pics from very near place of dam. the place was actually prohibited area, but since there are 40~50 cars that day, there was not so much security or chaos as normal day. So we are allowed to go to that place.

pics are not uploading now for some unknown reason[confused] so will upload it in next post.

There is performance change: Recently i filled up my nano with shell normal petrol (2 times tank fill up.), after that the engine sound become very loud and rough, hence i changed pump to Indian oil normal petrol but still the engine sound is very rough.

as i have not taken the nano for past 2 weeks,Today i started the engine and kept for 12 mins in ideal, initially the rpm become high ( as usual) and came back to normal, but the sound and performance of engine is totally changed and it is very smooth now.

ECU is learning? Any one having experience with nano ECU for the above.

I hope Tata nano ECU is Motronic ML4.1, but missing with octane sensor (from Wikipedia- (The 4.1 system did not include provision for a knock sensor for timing adjustment. The ignition timing and fuel map could be altered to take account of fuels with different octane ratings by connecting a calibrated resistor (taking the form of an "octane coding plug" in the vehicle's wiring loom) to one of the ECU pins, the resistance depending on the octane adjustment required[7]. With no resistor attached the system would default to 98 octane.))

Another update using shell normal petrol i got 17.5 with AC in city, on Indian oil i got 20.3 with AC.

i always fill from HP.
some time ago i used to feed it from shell, but dont know why, its petrol smels something different :-)
i can compare petrol by its flavour as i had worked in petrolium indusry for 3 years.

so now she gets from HP bunks only.
