There is absolutely no leakage of petrol and iam getting normal mileage of 13 kmpl, what most others are getting from spark.i wished and tried to get more mileage, but,it seems very difficult to get more.
Oh! Sorry in that case.I didn't knew that it had been already checked for minor fuel leakage.
Also , There was misunderstanding about the normal FE of spark in my mind as when my father was about to purchase wagon R in 2010 , chevy SE told him to go for spark as ARAI certified FE of spark(18 kmpl) is better than the wagonr (17 kmpl) Thank god, he didn't trust bluff.
My father use to get 17.5 kmpl on highways and 15kmpl on city traffic road on the wagonr.
Dear thenali, I also get 15-16 KMPL in city in my Spark. however it seldom goes below 14 depending on traffic condition and AC usage. I get around 20KMPL regularly on highway without AC. With AC it always remains 18+.
My normal driving style in city:
I upshift at around 1700-2000RPM.
I skip gears depending on the speed of the car. for example I generally shift to 4th from 2nd and to 5th from 3rd (when speedo shows >40kmph). but I never let the engine to knock or struggle. I mean to say, I just feel the engine and drive at highest possible gear.
If you try too hard to drive at lower RPM and lug the engine, fuel consumption will increase on the other hand.
Thanks dear lucas, iam also upshifting gears at around 2000 rpm,but not skipping gears. iam very light footed, still iam not getting good mileage.i have to satisfy with 13kmpl mileage in city.most of the spark owners have reported mileage around 12 to 13 only,so,i have to live with that.
Guys am jelous of you both. Both are having sparky and getting good FE. It is nice to know that your sparky is doing well. Hope mine also improves a lot in future.
Guys what do you mean by upshift at around 1700-2000RPM.
City is famous for that, it delivers fantastic FE at 80-100(at 60 the FE fells) and then delivers 6-7 at 160-170. I have experienced this behavior a lot of times in i-vtec.
Look at this pic and you can easily make out the expected FE being delivered at the moment:
BTW guys, I managed to cross 22 kpl with my Corolla, it was 22.1 kpl this time.
mate so before also you were telling us about the figures shown by the MID ? it's not accurate.
you put the car in neutral and go downhill , it will show 35 kmpl.
even my verna showed constant 15 kmpl but the actual was around 11 kmpl.
My bike ZMR shows a mileage raging from 0.6 to 199. Once I had to accompany my colleague while she was on her scooty that day on whole stretch ZMR has shown FE of 100-135 KM.
In most cases I get 50+ reading if riding at constant speed say around 60-70KMPH.
Ertiga ZDI is giving a mileage of 15KMPL while I am learning driving.
@AHC, EZMR,The figures are confirmed by tankful to tank ful method, now one can not post pics of this method and even if they are posted how will you validate the authenticity.
Basic principle of this thread is ' Take it or Leave it'.IMHO.
One has to believe, in the same way we believe about the quantity of fuel displayed on dispensers at fuel stations!
When I was filling fuel couple of days back, I was worried that I might be eating up their time by slowly filling the fuel till neck of my tank. At that time the manager in fuel station told me not to worry since this could be the correct method than auto cut off.
what he told me was apart from nozzle length [generally we worry about that while calculating FE] the amount of fuel available in the tank also matters. Thus, sometimes the fuel splashes while filling new fuel and the nozzle cut-off automatically without even filling the fuel up-to the desired level.

no i don't believe that it'll will splash. it'd only splash if the nozel dispenses uneven amount of petrol ( like you empty a water bottle )
also , slowly filling the tank has another benefit when you fill petrol at the highest speed , petrol evaporates at higher level. petrol evaporates faster than water.
also , always fill the tank when it reaches half level. half level means less air and less petrol splashing which in return will have a slower rate of evaporation.
